I'm doing some refining to my Peri Workout Nutrition and wanted to hear some opinions on adding some PES Supplements to the mix.

First some background on me. I'm a 37 years old natural that has been lifting for 25 years now. 190cm, 84kg, 8% bodyfat. I've been slowly cutting since May and dropped 6kgs in that time.

I tried adding some current pics but it seems I don't have enough posts yet. But you can find them on my Instagram which also is TheMrMuscle.

My plan now is to keep my shape but improve athletic performance. Therefore I've decided to focus on my Peri Workout Nutrition. I often work out first thing in the morning which means I'm up at 4am and at the gym at 5am. My workouts are usually 2-2,5 hours long. As I'm following the BIG program (a Steve Cook program.)

My current macros are:

243g Protein
280g Carbs
86g Fat

3000Kcal

I might want to reduce proteins a bit and up fat and carbs. But we will see.

This is what I've come up with so far:

4am (Pre-Workout):
15g Peptopro
30g Cyclic Dextrin
1 Scoop Alphamine
2 Scoops High Volume

Intra-Workout:
15g Peptopro
30g Cyclic Dextrin
1g Electrolytes

Post-Workout:
1 Scoop SELECT
1 Scoop Real Food
5g Creapure Creatine

1-2 hours later:
Erase Pro+
Meal 1

If I can get hold of it I would like to add Ergonine and Amino IV to the mix but I'm unsure if it's needed and where it would fit in. Also getting hold of it in Sweden isn't easy but I want to try.

So any thoughts are welcome!

Hey, welcome. First, I would skip the preworkout dose of pep pro and dextrin, save that for intra workout only. Second, ergonine is a great choice in a product because it includes 9 daily staples in one at a very affordable price (no need for the creapure if you get ergonine). Amino IV is also a great product because it has 5 g of leucine per serving and tastes fantastic, but if money is tight, I would opt for ergonine. You can take that any time of the day (most people take it preworkout though). Third, if you don't mind me asking, why are you in the gym for so long? What's your routine like?

Hey, thanks!

When working out later in the day I don't drink the PWO Peptopro and dextrin seeing as I've had a couple of meals. But I figured I'd want to get it in the morning for better performance. But you suggest dropping it? That would make it easier to ad the Ergonine. I could just mix it with my High Volume and Alphamine.

Haha yeah the workouts are kinda long. I'm following a program called BIG by Jacob Hutton, Michael Cazayoux and Steve Cook. You can read an overview on it at SteveCookHealth. But it's basically a combination of training for strength, size and performance. What makes the workouts so long is my focus on a good warm up (Foam rolling and mobility work) and the fact that there always is some kind of cardio at the end. It can be HIIT, LISS, circuit training, tabata etc.

Ah okay. Well its up to you; if you feel it improves your performance, go ahead, but those are expensive and it might be easier to just eat or get some oats or something. The ergonine is definitely a great option to have preworkout but if you feel like its too much in the AM, you can take it later in the day.

Okay, that makes more sense. I was worried you were doing strength training for that long and I was going to say that's way too excessive. A good warm up is an excellent way to avoid injury :)

Yeah I just started with the Peptopro/dextrin mix. Previously I would chug a SELECT shake with REAL FOOD but my thinking was that even though that tastes 100 times better it might not pass thru the stomach fast enough to give any benefits. Also it might prevent or reduce the effectiveness of my PWO.

Ergonine definitely looks like something that would be beneficial to me. So I'm going to give that a try.

When I was younger I could get away with less warm ups. But now that I'm getting closer to 40 I definitely feel a difference if I rush my warm ups. I've also added a ROMWOD session to my daily routine and that helps tremendously.

That's fair, it can indeed reduce effectiveness of your preworkout, but not to a crazy degree. Maybe try taking just select in the morning and see how that goes. If it doesn't work out, you can go back to pep pro and dextrin. Perfect, I think you'll enjoy the ergonine. I would go with tropical twist, its a very refreshing flavour. Yeah I noticed the same as I get older; I also put a big emphasis on cool downs. I like the program magnificient mobility a fair bit.

You are going to be all kinds of shredded on Erase Pro + at 8% dude, I hope you log this or review it once you're done!

Definitely give some consideration to Ergonine, for $1/day it can't be beat for value either.

Yesterday I got up at 4am and immediately downed my Alphamine and High Volume. Then I mixed 30g Peptopro and 60g Dextrin in 2 liters of water and started sipping it 15 minutes before the gym and that felt great! The energy and pump was awesome.

I'll definitely give Magnificent Mobility a look, thanks.

Yeah I'm on my second bottle of Erase Pro+ now and 8% was measured with a DEXA. Guy who measured me was kinda shocked hehe. Don't think they usually have fitness people getting measured. You can have a look at TheMrMuscle on Instagram for reference.

Definitely liking Erase Pro+, that's really the Supplement that peaked my interest for the rest of the PES lineup and I'm loving Alphamine and High Volume! Ergonine is next on my list now.
