i feel for you bro, especially if your breaker box is messed up.

ante up on your life insurance and make sure to add me lol

Lmao

Just make sure you're always higher than the box and you're good to go, electricity only flows straight down to the ground so if you're above the box when you mess with it, there's no way it could possibly hurt you.

But honestly, don't forget to have either the panel off or have the electricity to the house shut off, or both. If there's one thing I won't mess with its electricity, it's some scary ****.

I usually just turn the whole breaker off.

Lmao

I usually just turn the whole breaker off.

I forgot to do that once (more like didn't know) and I got a very nasty surprise when I went to pull a breaker. Needless to say I will never make that mistake again. Nothing like hearing a nice crackly zap as electricity arks between points.

Lol. I haven't done that yet.

My wife and I redid our electrical. More like I helped. My wife is a fcking genious. We put in all new wiring, lighting, outlets, everything. It is why I didn't go to the gym for about 6 or so months last year and a half ago.

Lol. I just don't want to tear into the walls/ceiling unless I have to. Which I may have to.

Is it true plumbing and wiring are really really similar? That's what my father said and only thing I can think that are similar between the two is that they are both ****ty to deal with.

Dude we ripped out EVERYTHING. Walls, floors, ceiling. We did the electrical, plumbing, everything. We are actually bin the process of getting material ready to build our own house

Nice. I don't have any help though. I don't know anyone here and my family here is not capable lol.

Lol. No I haven't tried it. But the only thing non-otc that compares to it would be some strong benzo's. It knocks Benadryl, Z-quil and everything like that out of the water. Woke up feeling good today. Not groggy at all.
Nice... That's the important part. Most sleep aids make me feel like a zombie when I wake up.

Well if it turns on and doesn't catch fire, I think your good lol. I had to take out some track lighting and install some temporary fluorescent lights. I don't know what the builders/electricians were thinking when they built it but, the downstairs living room has 0 lights. None. 4 rooms only have fans, with no lights. So dumb. So now I have to wire all this sh!t.
That is stupid. By 10 lamps?

Sooo, I made a dumb mistake lol. I didn't fully realize how strong this was and took 2 caps when I got back to my old house last night at about 8pm. I was out by 8:30. Woke up at 4:30 fully refreshed and couldn't go back to sleep lol.

Yea I got a free sample and took both one time. I felt like my eyelids weighed 100 lbs each. It was like getting hit in the head with a mallet.

I rehabbed a house once and face a similar not lighting issue while most of the wiring had to be pulled because it looked like a child did it and we just wanted the asbestos out of there.

I tried using old lamps but it was not really bright enough for what I was doing - plastering then painting. The solution for me was to get one of those Halogen high watt work lights on a stand. This thing rivaled the sun and literally lit up an entire room to the point where I was able to see imperfections that I would not have noticed with my multi lamp setup.

Only thing to worry about - be sure to wear gloves when changing the bulbs, any finger oil residue on the bulb will draw the majority of the heat produced and possibly break the glass. That and don't put things too close to the bulbs unless you want to melt it. They run hot, but it was the one thing that enabled me to work in the house when it was dark.

I totally forgot to get a pic of the breaker. I did figure out one thing though, about half of the wiring isn't labeled on the breaker. The downstairs small living room has a fan with no light so I wired one. Wouldn't work. Ridiculous.

if your forgetting to get the picture, odds are your going to forget to turn the breaker off.

just a reminder, add me to your will lmao

Be sure to use a voltage tester on any wire you are planning on touching even if you think you tripped the right breaker. Unless you are going to play Jurassic Park and turn the main breaker off. Then touch whatever.

Also just remember that even tho you might be a grounded individual, don't hold on to the ground wire. You don't need to be anymore grounded or else you run the risk of becoming very negative very fast.

A few hundred thousand free flowing electrons could do the trick ;) let's not test it out tho

Haha!! Youre all better than me as I see it. I was on top of a 10' ladder years ago, wiring up a 2x4 lay in light on 220. Boom, lead pops out hits my palm, holds me for a bit, then violently throws me, wire mounts from the ceiling punctured my chest, the light split my wrist open, the current went through my body and blew the knuckle on the opposite hand out and when I hit the ground I broke my tail bone. I dont even like car batteries anymore

^ reason why you should use the Jurassic Park method.

Holly crap! I wouldn't either...

I dont think ANYTHING can make my boy Brandinooooo negative!

Thanks brotha.

Holy sh!t lol. I wouldn't mess with it anymore either.

Lol that's still funny.

When you turn breakers off now all you'll be humming is the Jurassic park theme song...

Lmao. Oh and I remembered to get a few pics of the breaker. I did figure out one thing though, someone wired some light switches to outlets. Like a switch next to the front door turns on a outlet in the living room....

These people had to be on drugs. Or really drunk the whole time.

Actually that's normal for a lot of houses. My house had a few switches wired to an outlet in the room, but only the bottom part of the outlet not the top lol. It's confusing but it's for like plug in lamps and stuff

If you can read it, instead of wiring whole rooms together per circuit, they wired multiple rooms/hallways together depending on outlets and light and fans. Oh and some things like the whole garage aren't even listed...

It would be fine but the switches aren't even in the same room as the outlets lol.

I was going to say....THAT is a clusterfck

Depending upon time and ability, I would almost be inclined to start over with a new box and wiring.....ef that!

I am. I'm either gonna start tomorrow or say fcck it and hire a couple electricians so it gets done faster. So many other things I could be doing instead like building the deck and privacy fence.

That is what my last house was like, half of a bedroom and the exhaust fan in the kitchen. It made zero sense. I went up and down the stairs so many times flipping breakers on and off and testing outlets I almost went crazy.

What does the board actually look like? What kind if breaker panel is it?
You can usually tell how many cooks have been in the kitchen by how many different types and colors of wire there are running into the box. If you see asbestos wrapped wire it is probably done in the 70s or earlier.

Also remember to say "hold onto your butts..." when you flip the main breaker back on.

Lol. I'll take a pic of the actual breaker tomorrow. It's older than me by quite a bit.

Should be feeling nice and fresh to deal with that electrical awesomeness....LOL

Mine showed up today. Plan on taking one in another hour or so and we'll see what happens.

Not to continue turning this into an electrical thread...but....a few things. The FiRST thing I thought of when I read your issue was, they are wired to an outlet...it's extremely common and I figured it was too stupid to mention. If there is no light in a ceiling, you will have a lamp and want a switch to power it as you enter the room.

Second, some of the best logic I ever heared about electrical wiring:

If you change an outlet, do you need to turn the power off?

If the answer is yes --- then you have no business being in the panel.

Even with the breaker off you will still have possible exposed live wire, running 110v out of phase in 2 circuits, giving you 220 I'm actual potential. The voltage won't kill you, the amps will. But the electric company has no limit to the amps that can flow through those wires. Simple mistake and death awaits. No joke. Changing a breaker and getting a zap from that will only give you half of the potential that you could possible get out of the box.

Next, if you recently bought the house, did you get an inspection done? There was an issue with a certain brand from years ago where the boxes would fail and cause fires. If you have one of these breaker panels, your home insurance may actually require you to replace it...or void your insurance. What brand do you have?

Finally, I've seen some crazy stuff done by previous home owners that were lucky they didn't die. When I bought my house I was going to install a light in the ceiling of a second story bedroom. The switch had an extra Romex wire in the box (encased black/white/ground) and I checked all the outlets and everything and couldn't find the other end. Finally I went in the attic, pulled back insulation and discovered the other end of this live wire between the ceiling and insulation, still stripped and exposed except for REGULAR tape around the conductors. Just scotch tape!!! With the conductors about 1/2 inch away from each other, under insulation. Arching would have sent the house up. Someone must have pulled a ceiling light out of the room and didn't even know enough to cap the wires, nevermind kill it.

So the people who went before you could have been insanely stupid and if you are positive you will recognize all of the issues, it may be smart to hire someone who will. You also don't have to open walls for electrical 90% of the time, so it will save you money there.

One tip. Buy a multimeter, set it to resistance and turn the speaker on. When you touch the tips of the two probes, you will get a beeping sound.

Then turn off the electricity. If you touch a probe to a wire, the other probe will cause the meter to beep when you touch the other probe to the other end of the wire. So if you have a box with Romex and don't know where the other end is, you can set this up and pull outlets, etc. To find the other end. U don't even have to pull the outlets, just push the probe into the slot in the outlets to make a connection. Use an extension chord to to reach when you need to (the probes are usually only a foot long or so). You can plug an extension into the outlet, bring the other end to the box of wires and push the probe into the extensions outlet.

Appreciate the concern. I am having someone else do it. My mulltimeter doesn't have the circuit tracer.

Mine showed up today. Plan on taking one in another hour or so and we'll see what happens.

Quick update to my experience. Took one pill about 45 minutes before going to bed. Could definitely tell something was going on, felt tired and calm. Fell asleep fairly quickly and for the first time in over 4 weeks, I didn't wake up during the night. Ended up with almost 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Woke up slightly groggy, nothing horrible but certainly there. After about 30 minutes, everything was back to normal. Not sure if it had anything to do with the Dream n Grow or not. Could just be a coincidence. Either way, getting 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep is worth it!
