We have different needs now than 1787, thats 100% for sure.

We need the people desperately need way more guns/weapons now than not only 1787, but more than anytime in our history to keep up with balance of powers and block the final overthrow of our liberties and democracy.

Power is controlled through the barrel of the gun.

I dont think you have a good understanding of the 2nd Amendment, what it was put there for and how the power of the militia can bring a natural balance to this nation that is so desperately needs.

There is much so much more they could than just nuke us. They could so much more ha I think you know that.

But you keep 'em stockpiled just in case, just make sure you keep your friends and neighbors aware that your hoarding weapons incase the time comes that you personally decide that the government has just taken to far.

In all seriousness not to confuse my message, yes I heavily believe in balance of powers, and the power of the individual. Our best shot out of this however is not violence, but a real grassroots change from local elections to the state level and then on-wards. Eliminating both Democrat and Republican parties (including Trump btw) and putting in Constitution minded individuals in power. Thats my take. I dont have a whole lot of hope, but Id rather go out a loser than give in to tyranny. F' no I dont want a civil war.

You may be comfortable with your government today, but you dont know what the future of your government holds...on top of other nations invading your island your government isnt the only thing to be concerned about.

Being armed and strong is best preparation for whatever the future may bring. All you have to do is look at history, many places I bet they were all comfortable with their government until they got squashed by the same people they supported or foreign invasions. Its not a matter of if, but when.

That is absolutely not true btw....many countries have people that fear their own government, and in particular the least armed public such as China.

Just because someone supports the 2nd Amendment doesnt mean you live in fear, they are just being smart.
 
When people talk about protecting the second ammendment and government intrusion into it, everyone says the government isn't coming for your guns. And they aren't outright and overtly doing that. But they are using the BATFE to change regulations to drastically hamper the supporting aspects of the firearm industry. The changes to the ITAR regulations that say gunsmith need to meet new regulations. Here, the BATFE just issued a change to the classification of the most prominent chemical in smokeless gun powder. They completely did this with no comment period as required. Just like they tried banning the 556 steel core ammo a couple years ago by saying it was armor piercing handgun ammo. After a contentious comment period they back tracked on that. It is all part of their process of overregulating the firearm industry to make it cost prohibitive for the average person to afford owning and shooting firearms . As an example of this, look at the laws in DC to own a firearm and get a carry permit, that was mandated by the Supreme Court ruling declaring the DC ban on possessing handguns unconstitutional. So DC only approved 1 firearm dealer in all of DC, and they charge over $100 in fees to purchase a firearm there. In most free states such as VA, most dealers charge only charge a couple dollars to process the federal background check and gun sale. They also only charge typically around $30 to transfer a firearm from another dealer, if you purchased from an online dealer and had it shipped to your local shop to process the background. So anyway, a DC resident can't go to VA to buy a firearm, because it's crossing state lines. So they've created a monopoly, that makes it so expensive that many people can't or won't pay those prices to purchase a gun.

We don't expect our military brothers and sisters to turn on us. That's why the government wants to have a federalized police force.

Haven't checked out the conference. It's possible he wore the shirt to make a point.

I do think standing against oppression is good, especially for athletes and public figures because they can bring attention to a problem. However, there are better ways to go about it than not standing for the national anthem, but it was effective nonetheless.

You missed my point. He is having a press conference defending his protest of police brutality and oppression, while wearing a shirt with Castro on it. It's not even about sitting during the national anthem. Holding up Castro and Che as examples of revolutionaries that stood up against their government is small minded, immature, and ignorant of what those 2 men single handedly did to destroy Cuba with their revolution.

What it is really about is he has been hurt and is now third string quarterback and about to go down like RG3 did so he needs to put himself in the news. That's why he said even if he stops playing football, ie gets cut, he will still continue his stand.

Lest we forget his racial slur incident a couple years ago.
 
I disagree with this helping him. If anything this has added a negative connotation to his name. I was on the fence about him before, honestly I barely know much about his career, but now I definitely do not support him.

He didn't wear that to the same press conference during which he discussed his national anthem protest, FWIW.

He discussed the national anthem issue on August 28. The photo of him with the Castro shirt is during a press conference that occurred on August 30.

Not saying that he didn't wear the shirt, just get your facts straight.

My apologies, but that further solidifies my point. He had 2 days to think about his first press conference and the "discussion" he's having concerning oppression, then goes out with a Castro shirt on.

In all seriousness, I think you guys should have no level of trust in yourselves, the people to step up empower society and take personal responsibility to step up to contribute (along with government as an acting partner) to defend the self and the nation from wrongdoing and any threats to our liberty and prosperity. Rather, you should beg government to always be there for you and protect you.

Thats just how I feel, not a personal shot at you.

I.E. It's possible he wore the shirt in protest to compare America to Castro. I haven't watched the press conference. I'm sure he was asked about it. If he said "Castro is my idol" then that's one thing. If he says "Modern day police brutality reminds me of Castro". That's another.

Doesn't the fact that he's going to continue his stance after football sort of imply... Oh idk... That he believes in his stance and it's bigger than football?

With so many veterans being alarmed that they by default are labeled potential terrorists by DHS, and the military itself waking up as a whole realizing the past 8 years Obama has purged our military leaders that they certainly are mostly on we the people's side.

Not at all. But I have never experienced such a great level of mistrust in someones own govt before that they feel the need to carry weapons to protect themselves from them. To me that is living in fear, not living with freedom. When was the last time civvys needed guns to stand up to the govt?

You think freedom is being able to do what you like, but freedom means living without fear of oppression which clearly you guys don't have ITT. I don't carry a gun, but I feel free from oppression. I prefer that.

But at least now I understand a bit more. Maybe your govt has failed you one time to many which is sad.

Just two years ago over abusing government land grabs out west, and the armed militia/ranchers won that battle agaisnt the federal government.

Nobody is scared of nothing here, you are taking it way out of proportion. Its about being a grown up, being smart and taking responsibility for self governance and protecting the future of this nation. You may feel free from oppression at the moment but you have no idea what tomorrow holds for you and your people are completely unprepared for when that moment comes.

Oh, and who do you think is doing a better job protecting our borders? Sure in hell isnt "stand down order" government, its our own people, our own self armed people and militias of America protecting us from terrorists, not the government who you think should protect us that has instead been arming and financing terrorists for years.

Freedom needs to constantly be well guarded and well protected by the people, or its a matter of time freedoms incrementally are wiped away just as we see it here today. This is the foundation of the country and the basic principles of our democracy.

When people become naive its a matter of time they become minions and slaves of the state, or some other state.

 
We have the illusion of freedom.

Standing up to (first amendment right) and resisting or directly contradicting and or correcting or influencing by physical means and or force are not the same thing.

For example - peaceful demonstration and protest of Hillary Clinton's freedom and physically taking her into custody for her crimes are not one in the same. She should be in custody by someone for her crimes!

You'd be surprised how easily this could happen by well armed and trained American citizens. BTW there are many past and preset member of our armed forces that would be happy to participate in taking her into custody.
