All Puffed up.. Unfortunately that is only local to the NY People.. Maple or AH would not ship it out even if you requested/demanded it
Man that Marshmallow base, cookie dough would be F'in Epic.

did it before when i worked WNBF Worlds at Martin Luther King High school.
That was one long ass 9 hour drive. Boring as hell driving on 90 through NY and looking at nothing.
Not to mention once you got downtown it was a zoo. I will never drive downtown in NYC again. Will take a train once I hit the city.

Been to NYC a few times now. I could not fathom driving downtown, walk or train or even taxi.

So they took one of their worst flavors ( Raw Deal ) , replaced that hard and flavorless "cookie dough" for an even easier to make "pb cup" (melt pb, layer 1 on pan, melt chocolate, layer 2, cut), and then had the audacity to call it a response for the demand to bring back a great pint like PB4Pres...

Yup, these lazy bastards are going through all the downhill steps a brand goes through when growing and going commercial.

I think you nailed it lol

Last summer when I ordered, pints
were bursting with mix-ins. This year some have been hit and miss but in general seems like I'm getting less and they're losing their roots.

Have yet to be letdown recently... PB For Pres, Gowanus, Commodore were all loaded to the brim. Hells Kitchen Sink was not bad, Floating over the highline .. loaded

My munchies and Dark side in the past were lacking severe mix-ins.
2nd round of munchies they sent much better.

Even Brian comments their owner that they are hand packed in store, so some pints will be loaded more then others. They are working on improving the process and manufacturing due to the growing demand of Ample Hills so this is not a problem. Just like they had that shipping problem with the taste of NY and not enough dry ice right? Hah

Same with Graeters.... they hand pack everything after using the french pot process. Some pints have chocolate chunks the size of a quarter, some are small shards. I have noticed the smaller chocolate chunks in pints that have multiple compliments (S'mores, Coconut Almond Chocolate Chip for example)

Think about how ice cream is made.... There is no wway to garuntee loaded pint every time there will always be some with me with less, give the a break. I'm sure they aren't sitting there saayong, "well, we arpopulanow and parking alpt of money, let's reduce the quality of our product"
 
Some of you folks seem to have misunderstood my comment and I don't have the patience to write an essay on corporate strategy, but it suffices to say that the goals, liberties, management structure, and so on of a local business are very much different than those of a national brand.

Handel's website seems to not have been updated since the days of AOL. See the Indiana locations allow you to click and see the current menus, while some of the other states (Ohio in particular) just open up a map.

So it's not just me. Last summer Mkretz made the multi-hour trek to pick up some pints at the nearest location to him. Since he was gracious enough to grab some for me as well, I took the R to call ahead and place an order.

Spent 20 minutes on the phone going through what they had, ugh! If only the site was updated lol

Do you like candy? If you do then this limited edition pint has your name all over it. The popcorn base was far from being true to its name. The amount of butter was minimal in this offering. Which lead me to conclude it tasted close to a vanilla based ice cream. The inclusion of salt was a huge swing and miss from first to last bite. The amount of mix-ins helped this pint, but can't give it an A grade on its own. If you love candy and enjoy mix-ins this has a place in your heart. Good, but not great, Ample Hills could do a bit more work on this one.

Spot on with this review man. I was letdown by the lack of popcorn flavour as well This was one of the misses with AH I referred to above. To put that into context, even though I was letdown by the description it was still a high quality and tasty pint. Going for peppermint pattie today - if that aint loaded I am divorcing AH.

:) Munchines, Gowanus, Commodore, Nonna D's, PB4PREZ are all staple flavors that are solid.

Peppermint pattie just has peppermint ice cream with tons of chocolate flecks..... Not what you're expectin

it ships on dry ice. You will be fine. GNO and I had some slight problems in the past which are very rare for dry ice shipping.

Store brought brands the quality may not be as top tier as Graeters, Ample Hills, Salt & Straw, Chocolate Shoppe, Coolhaus, Gelato Fiasco depending on what you are looking to get and what flavors. Again this also varies on your loaction and what you have around you (sometimes mom and pop shops can have some high quality stuff).

Anyone can stick to a few Ben & Jerry's, or Friendly's // Turkey Hill flavors, but you may not get to experience some of the best out there. Just a personal preference.

You could not have been more wrong!

I took this pint out of the freezer to defrost for a few mins like I always do and then when I went to dig in, bam - spoon rejected. I initially thought it needed another couple of mins but nope it was just chunks ha. The mix-ins are not just flecks but huge chunks of dark chocolate covered peppermint patties, think York patties but bigger and better quality. Some pieces are broken into flecks but to say it is just flecks does it a disservice.

AH loaded my pint down to the point where it was difficult to spoon it out - almost no ice cream in there SRS.
Easy A on this one for me and I am back on the AH bandwagon fo sho!
