Broth

So I'm hearing a lot of talk about bone broth (aka friggen soup like grandma made from carcasses, LOL) lately. This is general health related, not performance. Anyone consuming it on the daily? Of course, there is a company selling dehydrated packets for about $3/Serv, LOL, but I found Swanson Unsalted Beef and Chicken Broth that lists as the first ingredient: Beef/Chicken Stock for about $2.50 a Quart.

What are the benefits?

Haven't looked into it too hard. Heard some stuff on SHR (where they advertise the packets), then heard it again on a podcast out of the UK that isn't commercial (Strength Matters) and they had an MD on there who also dietary consulted for the Lakers(?) and she mentioned it. Just a bunch of Vitamins, Minerals, Aminos, Collagen, etc... from the bone/marrow. It's 15kcals a cup and actually seems to fill me up a bit (more than 8oz of water - though I don't know why, LOL). I was in the store and passed it and said "hey, why not".

Unsalted has like 100mg. Plus, unless genetically pre-disposed, salt is our friend :)

Id be willing to try the unsalted. I have to watch my sodium intake in general though. Blood pressure seems to be extremely sensitive to it, and my body loves to hold onto water. Like I dont drink enough at 1.5 gallons a day!

This is one of those things that just seems to make sense lol I'd be more then willing to give it a try , what would the recommendation be 1-2 cups a day?

Yeah I guess, I'm doing 1. I just did some more looking, and this "Bone Broth" thing is also a HUUUUGE Fad with the foodie crowd - so who knows. Famous Chefs are touting it, restaurants are charging $4 a cup, etc... So it could be bogus, but that MD I heard didn't have skin in the game and sounded like she knew her sh^t, so I figured why not. If I liked to cook, I'd make my own! The "filling" aspect is good enough for me if it does nothing else - my last meal is the smallest and these 15kcals of "soup" hit the spot :) I got the Beef and Chicken and do 4oz of each. 8 Days for about $5 of "food".
