Challenge Time 3, Can You PULL It Off?

Yeah, no one is beating 66.

Lol dude i truly have huge doubts that anyone will beat 66.

I blame my almost "no involvement" of legs for it. If an experimented lifter would do it as wrong as me, he would fly past me.
I'm eager to try it the correct way but my knees just wont cope, damn.
I'm mentally preparing myself for the re-do already.

Hell on...Just got off my cruches hahaha! Are we to film it or just do it ?? Maybe next challenge...Im training now..But my strengt is fuarcked

I'm going to film so I don't have to count while doing them.

I will put the camera behind me, so you can enjoy my ass, for making me re-doing it.

:icon16:

I didn't make you redo. Besides, your 8MM still works?

I totally forgot about this! I did rack pulls tonight and hit a new PR of 685lbs. Got greedy & tried to make it an even 700 but couldn't get it locked out. Head was in the clouds for a bit after that. Lol!

And that makes me feel like my 505 PR is nothing...lol. Good job bro!

Hey, short legs are good for some things, and one is leverage! Lol!

Btw, congrats on your PR! Don't ever compare your lifts to others and get discouraged! It's just you against you! Well, unless you're competing. Lol!

The video is sped up too fast to tell but I did 3-5 with a loose belt and the final pull without a belt. Breathing > Bracing.

I laid on the floor for a few minutes...

Shoulder isn't ready yet for Challenge 2. Close, maybe tomorrow.

That sucked. 345x40 in 12 mins. + belt, no straps, full resets every rep.
Edit- Breakdown was as follows:

10 reps with 10.5m left
16 reps with 9m left
22 reps with 7m15s left
26 reps with 5m10s left
30 reps with 3.5m left
34 reps with 1.5m left
40 reps with time expiring. Looked over right before pulling the last rep and there were 4s left.

So similar. 10 with 11:17 left. Then 17/23/28/33/36/40/43 I think. Somewhere in there was a fail. In fairness I haven't tried a 1rm in months. Last time I pulled my max it was butter.

The sped up video is like the Benny Hill show, LMAO
Let us know how you feel the next few days.
Took me 5 minutes to put my socks on this morning. A vitamin-b pill fell on the floor, after failing to retrieve it, I shot it with the foot under the fridge, LOL.

I dont even feel bad surprisingly at all, maybe stiff hams but no soreness to speak of. 76 deadlifts (40 from sadiv) shouldve done something to me!

I'll feel fine recovery wise. I don't get DOMs from pulls like I do squats.

Well, I have no fancy gear on hand, just the 8mm camera, LOL.
Now looking for a hoster, besides youtube, to upload vids longer than 10 minutes.

What's your video length limit? 10?

I don't know what Vimeo allows. Pretty sure I've loaded 15 minute videos at least

Tonight was back night. I planned on doing my normal dreads and then doing this challenge after the workout. I've been pulling 405 so I loaded that up and couldn't get it off the floor. I tried about 4 times but it just wasn't there. So I just did the challenge ...which was good because it gave me an alternative to failure.

I know I couldn't even do 405 tonight, but I treated that as my 1RM. 60% would be 240. I put 265 on the bar. Set the timer for 12 minutes. Got 53 reps. Was hoping to get 60 but I was just huffing and puffing haha.

Anyway, no records from me, but it was challenging and fun and felt good to try.

Good work man. Sometimes the top end strength just aint there. 53 an impressive number

Thanks man, but even that old daughter Hairygrandpa has me beat.

Oh, I used gloves and a belt. I had straps on my wrist in case my grip failed but never used them on the bar. Surprised I didn't need them.

.

Not by much AND I used less weight!
You did great, for a kid that recently reached puberty.

Take that, little bugger, LOL

Lmao, that should have said old fugger ...stupid auto correct.

I wish I was still in puberty. I'd recover from these challenges much faster. My arms are still killing me from your challenge. I really don't like you anymore. Haha

Nice job man. 53 is a great number!

Didn't HG do bar only deads?

This is great!
It seems like sometimes people like to over complicate how to train the deadlift. But it's really simple.
Fast hips, good position, toughen the CNS.

Thanks for the instructions.
Now we want to see you do the challenge.

I don't see a lot of people jumping in here...lots of excuses. Bad knees (which didn't stop Hairy Old Fugger) or whatever. While I don't want anyone hurting themselves and understand, if I wanted stories I would go to the library.

So far I think less than a half dozen people have actually posted #s?

Is Hastur in the list? Where are ya buddy?

Thats cuz tricep extensions are easier than deadlifts

I'll try it tomorrow morning. While my hams are still tight enough to give me a boost off the floor. I'm certainly not getting 66, I'm certainly not doing a single rep without straps, but I will throw down. I'm going to put some trickery in the mix on you fools as well.

Call me a bih but,

L2-3 disc bulge mild stenosis

L4-5 disc bulge and abutted against nerve root with stenosis

No deadlifts until I see my physio and get clearance from another set of MRIs

Like I said, my comment wasn't at anyone in particular and I don't want anyone hurting themselves. Just a lot of people chiming in with why they can't do it and no one else chiming in with how they can or did do it.

Obviously, some people just can't do deadliest and have a reason.

Hope your back gets better quickly.

37 reps with 385. I'm pretty proud of that.

I calculated my current max at 400lbs, LOL. You are an animal doing 37 with 385!

Holy Balls man. #beast

Thanks guys. This was really challenging. I have a pretty good deadlift, but 37 reps at or above 60% is about how many I do in three weeks.

Edit: my trick was that I alternated sumo and conventional. Is that allowed, Thomas?

I don't see why not. It's still a deadlift. I'm not sure my sets would've been any easier if I alternated.

Nice job Justin!
