I can't get it down my throat....

Hello happy reader. I have been searching high and low for a supplement that might be able to help with my on and again off again depressive states and a racing mind that can never seem to calm down. I have been to a doctor and Rx medication is simply not the way to go; however, I do need something to assist me in taking the edge off- to turn the volume down a bit I guess you can say. The catch....I cannot take pills for the life of me. I have tried a chewable 5-htp in the past but after a good 2 months I did not notice any difference. Any suggestions will be exceedingly helpful and I will be forever in your debt!

I prefer meditation...

I simply cannot ever get into a calm enough place to do it. Even after shelling out God knows how much money I am still told that I have to quiet my mind. I know I do..that's why I'm here lol.

Lithium orotate (5 mg) helps with mild depression and calms racing thoughts. It's a pill (you mention having trouble taking them) but it's very small.

Tyrosine, Tryptophan(very sedative) both or natural amino acids that offer tons of mental benefit. Also they can be bought as powders and mixed with protein powder. Also, magnesium biglycinate is great for cognition and mental health. L-dopa is great for depression, Choline is great, Phospholipids are great for mental health aswell. Now here's one im careful about but it works INSANELY well, but that's why im iffy about it. Phenibut works, WONDERS. It's a god send and im sure tons will agree, however it works so well it can be addictive, so use is only recommended once or twice a week. Most can be found in powders, and if you can't i know some sources of caps that are generally small, if you need any help feel free to pm me.

Here's some things that may help, along with doses and potential benefits. I wouldn't recommend trying them all at once, but they all have merit and may be useful for you.

-ASHWAGANDHA (30mg withanolides per day; 600mg KSM-66 is a great option)
>>>Lots of research showing it can help reduce stress/anxiety/depression. It isn't sedating (although some people do say it makes them a little tired), is very affordable (~$5/month), and has many other benefits (improved performance and body compostion, cognitive benefits, etc)

-THEANINE (200mg)
>>>Calming without being sedating. Goes very well with caffeine to take the edge off.

-RHODIOLA
>>>Tends to be used to reduce fatigue and improve endurance, but higher doses have been shown to significantly reduce anxiety symptoms.

-KAVA (90-250mg kavalactones per day, not something you should use daily for more than a handful of weeks)
>>>Good for reducing anxiety and stress. Don't take too much, as it can cause intoxication, but 90-250mg doses have been shown to reduce anxiety, improve mood, and even improve reaction time.

-TONGKAT ALI (2mg eurycomanone)
>>>Commonly used to increase libido (for men and women), but has also been shown to improve hormone balance and mood (reduced tension, anger, and confusion). May also have body composition benefits.

-HOLY BASIL (300-1000mg extract per day)
>>>Has been shown in studies to reduce anxiety/stress/depression.

-AGMATINE (2-3g per day)
>>>Typically used pre-workout for a pump, but has a small but very promising study showing it can help reduce depression.

I'm on 15mg of Buspar and it goes down pretty easy. Kind of gross but the best size comparison of the pill I can give you is a large black ant lol

Thats a nice comparison for someone who has trouble taking pills lol. Make them think of trying to swallow an ant lol

Lol I'm sorry I was trying to give a comparison!

Lol better?

In the medical field we often crush pills or separate capsules and place in apple sauce, yogurt, ice cream. What ever the patient will tolerate. That might be an option for you.

Your gliding around in FILA shoes? Retro level/10

What can I say they match my track suit...they were cheap and wide enough to fit my Flintstone feet.

I used Fila and le coq sportif in my youth. lol, feels like I say it like I am 50+. :D

This makes me remember I need new shoes. supplement or shoes? supplement or shoes? lol

I've been wearing Brooks lately, really need a new pair of street shoes. Was think something Nike in a EEEE width.

I did get new kicks today though, ya'll wanna see?!

Comfy AF!

Also, Spoutace

Do you get up and down with your anxiety? Insomnia? Depression. What kind of symptoms do you have?

I get insomnia as well the bipolar (lucky me right), throw in a little body dysmorphia and you have the perfect insecure body builder stereotype lol

They do look comfy!

I do have my ups and downs with all three but my anxiety is pretty much a constant however it's worse at night when I try to sleep.

Top this sundae with my past eating disorder - recovering anorexic. College was the worst of it...was down to about 85 pounds but I've been stable at about 100 - 110 for the past four years (personal best). Blaaa. Don't want to say much else on here lol.

Oh man, sorry that's rough! Glad to hear you're doing better though. I'm pretty open about my mental disorders though lol so if you ever need to talk!

Eating disorder/anorexia nothing to be ashamed of though, I mean you're on a board full of people who are either A: starving themselves for shows. B: altering the hormones and chemical make ups of their body or C: all of thee of above lol
