Barbell Knurling and Deadlifts

Recently my gym opened a new location. They got new bars and the knurling is very aggressive. It is good for grip, but I have noticed the knurling in the center is getting caught on whatever bottoms I wear and pulling the bar up at the lockout is rough. It really becomes an issue the closer I get to my 1 rep max. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to eliminate that problem? I was thinking of taping papers towels over that small section of knurling. An other ideas?

I'd say baby powder if it were skin. Maybe clothing that's not so loose?

I'm jealous tbh. I miss the aggressive knurling when my gym got ONE new bar two years ago.

I've tried different types of clothing to see if it is not as prominent. With shorts, it seems to not be as bad , probably because it does not snag any materials until a higher point.

I don't pull in anything but shorts. Maybe that's why I don't notice it much. It grabs, but not anything that bothers me.

I thought I'd NEVER do it but on heavy dedz days i put on skinny pants under my shorts. Stops all snagging and my legs dont get ripped up.

I usually wear compression pants under my pants, I did not wear them yesterday under the shorts though. Big mistake!

Do they not have bars without center knurling? Typically that is a squat bar.

My gym doesn't. Fortunately the center knurling is only about 4-5"
wide.
