EC & IF

Waddup, fellas.

I'm about to run another 2 month EC stack.

But before I do, I have a quick question:

Can I run the EC stack while Intermittent Fasting?

I've been doing 24 hour fasts, twice a week.

I'm also training in the early a.m. in a fasted state.

Any thoughts?

what reasons lead you to think you cant?

Shouldn't be any issues with it at all. Any particular reason you're doing a 24 hour fast twice during the week though? Very unique approach, curious to see your reasoning with it

Theres a good bit of data on periodic fasting..

I've been reading about IF and some of the claims - during a fasted state, insulin goes way down and growth hormone goes way (and purportedly "pulls from your fat," for lack of a better scientific term).

And apparently there are studies showing GH goes up on average 2000% on a 24 hour fast.

I've been checking out the Hodge Twins, Lean Gains, Kinobody, Brad Pilon, etc. on the subject.

It's interesting. I'm trying it.

Let's see what happens.

Curious to see how you like it. I've read and experimented with the tradiitonal 16:8 IF protocol, but never tried 24 hour fasts. How do the fasting days fall in line with your training?

Sounds like the 5/2 diet. I did it for awhile, and it's just as effective as the 8:16 diet I've done for years. It's the caloric intake that determines everything, but it's nice to eat normal for 5 days of the week and only be tortured for 2 days.

I'll wake up around 5/6 a.m. I'll eat until 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., just depends. I won't work out on the day I'm STARTING my fast. I'll try to consume 2500 to 3000 calories in THAT window. Edit: I might walk or do ab work on this day.

I'll wake up next day around the same time. I'll have coffee and water ONLY. I'll train fasted (actually feels amazing). I'll start eating again whenever I STOPPED eating the day before.

It's becoming easier and easier each time.

I have become a bit leaner, nothing crazy. But I'm going to try to make this a lifestyle change.

The one thing I can say is that basically ALL my inflammation in my knees are gone. That is FRIGGIN crazy. I'm 36. I'm always complaining about my god damn knees. That feels great.

No problem running EC while fasting. I look up to you cause I have trouble fasting haha.

I make 9 espresso cups of Cafe Bustelo on my perculator every day.

Coffee tastes like the most delicious thing ever made by man when you're going long periods of fasting. That helps - a lot.

But thanks, man.

Reasoning I like periodic fasting, I can eat more on non fasted days
