the CDC Statistics say on average a person has drove impaired 50 times for every arrest, how many chances does a person need to kill someone?

I'm assuming a number that you know cant be verified is irrelevant here. Don't just guess that what I'm suggesting that these people get off with little warning, if you go and look a 2nd offense dui isn't just a slap on the wrist.


There may be some who work the system, but those people are few and far between and those are usually people with money, which is part of the problem.

try this on for size...if you know that if you get caught for 2nd dui you are going to do 2 years-MANDATORY, many casual drinkers and weekend bingers would be detered from drinking and driving...habitual offenders are going to do it anyways and they really do need to be locked up. there really isn't any excuse for endangering the lives of others by getting behind the wheel intoxicated.

Like I said not realistic at all for multiple reason. People are already penalized with in reason for a 2nd offense. amazing you will sit there and defend homeless people who sh!t in public parks and leave drug paraphanalia for young children to find , but you simply dont understand what kind of punishment fits the crime.

all of us are a product of our experiences....I guess because none of my children were ever involved with finding drug paraphanalia left by homeless people in parks, I don't feel as strongly abut it....on the other hand my children knew 2 classmates growing up who were killed by drunk drivers. now I have 2 grandkids, and if I didn't speak out against drunk driving and one of them were to be victims of drunk driving I would feel even worse, if that were possible!!!!

1st of all I am not a smoker, and as a recovering alcoholic I am also not a drinker...

here in Indiana they are trying to pass a bill that puts a dollar additional state tax on a pack of cigarettes. their argument is it will deter teen's from starting and or continuing to smoke, and the tax money will go to repairing roads and bridges . I think this is unfair to the majority of smokers who are poor, if they are addicted they will continue to smoke...paying for road repair on the backs of the poor is just plain wrong!!!

the reason I am putting my protest to the tax increase on cigareetes here is because the price of beer and booze has for the most part remained the same for the last 20 years while cigarette prices have gone up 200%.

trust me, I don't like to see teens smoking, but you had better believe I would rather see teens smoking cigarettes than drinking and driving.

if they want to raise taxes on something how about alcohol!!! taxing alcohol would be more fair since it hit's all bases of people-poor, middle class, rich.

absolutely agree with the drug testing...I think volunteer work would be a good thing for the majority, but I would be willing to makes exceptions based on disabilities and poor health[including mental health]....but we are on the same page!!!
