Are most supplements hype and provide little to no help?

I believe supps work I was 185 lbs at 6"4 16 years old started on protein years later moved on to ph's ,creatine, pwo and I packed it on I'm currently 32 and still 6"4 but I go between 280-295lbs .so YESSSS!!!! THEY WORK , the only supp I took that didn't work for me was tren for some reason my body didn't respond

1. Would you might tell us how you found out he has barely educational background?

his posts on bb.com. anyone with a intermediate level of formal education in exercise physiology can spot the internet expert from a mile away just by the words he chooses to use.

2. You generalization may be correct somewhat but if your talking about a specific person, you should get your facts straight. He honestly probably knows the same amount or more then the most educated on this website.

you're nuts.

3. He create no drama, he calls out fakes natties only because its unethical what they do to the fitness industry to the young crowd or generally.

right. he doesn't cause drama. the guy seriously needs help. he is delusional.

Invalid Link Removed

unethical? the guy admits to helping athletes cheat drug tests and you want to quote ethics? are you serious?

4. Yes he may make some money from ads but **** who wouldn't.

he makes money from ads that supplement companies buy. he knows where his money is coming from. he creates drama to get views so he can get more impressions and more money from ads. its not that complicated but people seem to think he actually gives a **** about them.

4. He sells no supplements, he may post up articles on Marc lobliners website but that's it.

he did a raving review of mts whey. wonder why. oh thats right, gets a percentage of sales through his affiliate link thats posted on every video. he gets 10% of every sale for all products going through his channel. so he hates supplement companies, yet will take a percentage of the money. if he was "real" he wouldn't have an affiliate link.

Not defending him, just don't spout **** like you know it all ;)

i ****ing know about this **** more than you.

LMAO @ tren being a supplement. I doubt much of your gains were due to supplements. What you have done would have easily been achieved with just food and hard work in the gym.

He states he only calls out people who claim natural but obviously sent because they are ruining the young generation that want to lift. Can imagine a young lifter looking up to a someone that isn't natural, he or she will be try to reach that level doing the same **** they do but get no where because science won't allow it.

he admits to helping athletes cheat drug tests. he doesn't give a **** about any generation. please, just stop.

Also just because someone has a PHD in an area he researches doesn't mean he is more knowledgeable then someone who doesn't have one. There are personal trainers that look like **** and don't even know proper form or personal trainers that look amazing and still don't know proper form. I'm going to try to find what Jason's education background is, I do recall him stating it.

Just because something causes drama doesn't mean it is intentional.

yes, a phd who's major research is amino acid metabolism as it pertains to bodybuilding. oh, and he's a competitor. yes, that phd means nothing. really?

and yes, there are personal trainers that look like ****. and guess what, jason blah looks like ****.

and yes, its intentional. they are roughly $3-4 CPM on their videos. Thats $3-4 per 1000 views from ad revenue. Add up his impressions. Do the math. Its intentional and anyone saying otherwise is ****in clueless.

I'm just talking about supps as a whole ie ph, protein, creatine ,etc. They all do say (dietary supplement) lol

i ****ing know about this **** more than you.

1. That is merely an assumption, the words he chooses shouldn't reflect his amount of knowledge.

2. Explain how my statement is incorrect.

3. I don't understand how he would be delusional and the site you posted have in common.

4. Also that's your opinion.

5. Still who wouldn't and you just said he doesn't create drama.

6. He wrote a good review for a good protein, ok. He gets 10% off sales from a site that he is affiliated, so he makes money for stuff that he may not actual believe in; ok. He still doesnt sell anything. Also doesnt make him not real just someone that doesn't mind how he makes money.

7. Never claimed I did, you make accusations without any fact.

1. no, its fact. and people such as yourself who don't know, follow guys like this with the belief they do know what they are talking about.

2. coop, Synapsin, De__eb, would eat this guy alive. he's an youtube phd, which makes internet phd's look smart.

3. obviously you didn't watch or read his comments pertaining to Layne Norton or read the lawsuit. Denial at its best.

4. no, its fact. He's talked about it and freely admitted it. Its as if you don't know who you are talking about.

5. i said he doesn't create drama? its called sarcasm. learn it. he creates drama for more video views. the same way vegan gains does. its not that difficult of a concept to grasp. Its about money.

6. no, he was bought so he could push his affiliate link. if you rail against the supplement industry, yet still take their money, you aren't real. you are a hypocrite.

7. no, you just stated I didn't which we can now see, is incorrect on your part. just stop. you are defending a fraud and I'm sorry if you don't like it.

I'm not defending him you are stating opinions. Its isn't a fact just because you say it is, show info stating you are right. I was saying it's your opinion that it is unetnical, I see as makes a living on what he know even though people would look down a pon it. Also you can't read sarcasm, just incase you didn't know. There you are making an assumption, there is no way you would know his motives. He doesn't rail the industry either, from what he knows he makes a statement on supplements. I'm not defending him, you are just making negative conclusions based of what you know. I will openly admitt I have know clue what his motives are and if he states he does something for a good reason I won't assume he is lying.

In conclusion, there is no way you can know his motives. Facts need evidence and opinions are opinions. That all I'm saying.

The jibes at the younger generation crack me up.

Lmao, if you think he has more knowledge than a person who has dedicated half his life to study, then either you have never studied or you werent very good at it.

A lot of nutrition and training is perspective and a lot of what these gurus say is spewed back from 'stickies' or other forum people who have spouted it in the past.
Moreover, especially WRT training, a lot of these guys who claim to be a guru wouldnt be able to train someine whose sole purpose is to be a better athlete; they simply stick with the BB or strength predominant categories but couldn't program to dave their life someone of different needs.

People with an actual qualification learn this for themselves - for instance questions like:

What effect does sugar have on HDL and LDL when a person of normal weight, normal functioning and in an isocaloric diet consumes more than double the recommened amount.

What effect does obesity have on interleukins etc.

Or person A walks into the office complaining of a sore knee, how do you determine the root of the pathology?

I could spit a million and one questions that demonstrate a thorough knowledge of nutrition, training, rehabilitation, biomechanics, periodisation etc that these guys couldnt work through in their heads because they dont understand underlying concepts. Do not mistake rehashing for knowledge.

If I want to work with a client, I need to know the origins and insertions of all the muscles and where forces are exerted if there is a chink in the chain somewhere. I need to know which muscles will become compensatory if another fails to do its job etc.

you mean the 'judgement free' generation, lol!!!

Lol I always hear older people say the younger people are so rude and disrespectful yet I've had more experiences of being disrespected and rudeness from people older than me compared to people around my age. There's a lot of hypocrisy that goes on.

the problem is my generation is failing to set a higher standard and tell young people they are behaving badly. instead my generation wants to be cool and fit in with todays society. my generation has become followers instead of leaders.

we need to judge people and call them out when they are behaving inappropriately...society needs to set boundaries on what we will tolerate, without boundaries a society is doomed to fail!!!

But that's not PC bigT!. We can't call people out, that would hurt feelings!.

I've seen and met a lot good respectable guys in their 20s though. Some of them actually show respect their elders and are very polite. So don't misunderstand me.

My point was that some people in say your generation, are disrespectful and rude to younger generations, but the younger generation can't call those individuals out because then we're being disrespectful to our elders.
Not saying my generation is any better, because we have some truly awful people as well. But it's irritating when people of one generation act like they aren't equally as rude and disrespectful as another.

These are qualities I strive to exemplify towards people despite their age, and despite how they treat me. Unless they deserve to lose my respect.

I haven't watched the OP's video, but for the most part - marketing hype is just that - hype. It could be a great product, but writers tend to over-hype product descriptions.

FWIW - check for info on websites like Pubmed. If supplements don't have concrete evidence to support them, then I don't take them.

that is the problem you encounter when you label a group.....you for one seem to be a fine example of your generation, I applaud you!!!:clap2:

Lol thank you sir, I appreciate that, and I agree. When you describe people as a group, you are ignoring the many individual qualities and personalities they all possess that make them different people. This is why the whole "race" issue is so dumb too - there are sh1tty white people, there are sh1tty black people. It doesn't matter what color your skin is, if you were raised or wired to be a bad person, that's the way it's gonna be.

my favorite saying is...the only color that matters is GREEN!!!

So true. Inappropriate behavior is not limited to the young today. There are adults males (and females) my age that make me ashamed to be part of the race. They are terrible husbands, fathers and role models in general.

the weight is very heavy. I find myself sometimes turning a blind eye to bad behavior. we as a whole MUST make a stand and not tolerate bad behavior, the government can't do this for us!!!!

I'm not saying he does, I'm just saying there is a possibility; if anyone wanted to they learn anything its all over the internet. I'm sure there are highly knowledgable people on here that somt have a degree and may even be smarter then most with a degree. Also time is merely a factor when it comes down to how much knowledge one had.

The interwebz is the biggest source of mis-information in the world. There are exceptions and the majority of things you read on the internet you shouldn't take at face value. Especially from the self proclaimed you tube experts and internet gurus that no one has ever heard of.

Not really, that is assuming a mojority people of the internet are wrong; most of the internet may be bias but not wrong. There is no legitimate reason to believe the majority of info is mis information, only assumptions.

I like the Internet guys that have **** builds so they claim everybody bigger then them are on gear. Lol

Sounds like you grew up or are growing up with the internet. I stand by my reasoning.

Yea I did but also I understand the internet is made up of individuals and no way is the internet a collective therefore to generalized the internet in any way would be wrong 100%

A more accurate generalization would be that the internet is for watching porn and the little percentage left is just slowing the bandwidth for more streaming porn. :)

"I help my girlfriend with her business..I need at least $5k or I'm not coming." Like it's some kind of a hostage negotiation. He f*cking pisses me off. I retract all previous statements, in this thread or otherwise, that remotely pretended to agree with anything he said.

Says the guy that grew up with the internet. There is absolutely a reason to believe most of it is mis-information. Just by reading it. I can see by your posts you are easily fooled into believing almost anything posted online though. Especially if it's posted by some youtube guy that you think is cool, because he shares some of the same ideas and attitude that you do.

Glad i read this my teens are limited to the Internet. We live like its 1850 n shyt . Candle light and fire cooked food booyah!

You claim I'm bias due to the fact that I've grown up with the internet but what if I'm just more informed and you just too old to understand how the internet works? You just seems bias due to the fact that you don't understand it, so you slander it as a collective even though its made up of individuals. Therefore your generalization is bias AND incorrect. Also I don't think he is cool, he is just a source of info.

I agree with this. A lot of the internet is filled with misinformation when it comes to the sciences like biology etc. Foodbabe for one had a go at airlines for ripping of customers by not using 100% oxygen and instead cutting it with nitrogen. Problem is is that many people get sucked in bevause they have no clue that the atmosphere is majority nitrogen.

Or how about detoxes?
Anabolic window?
6 meals a day?
Not combining fats and carbs?
Fats and heart disease?
Carbs and diabetes?
Sugar and fat gain?
Blood type diets?
Protein causes cancer?
Sweeteners cause cancer?
Vaccinations are bad?
Herbs are the best?
Talapia at every meal?
Casein before bed?
Avoiding meat?

I could go on and on. If you google any of these, you will find hundreds of articles supporting them all - and most, if not all the hits will be piorly argued and not factual. There is no much misinformation that I've had to step away from most mainstream nutrition and training sources because they are just that bad. Foodbabe is one of the worst. David wolfe is a shocker for fear mongering.

It really is more misinformation that solid, evidence based information
