also---the mentally ill are also vulnerable to being manipulated by radical islam which makes promises of vengeance against their 'oppressors' and glory which the mentally ill would find appealing imo.

Crazy will always crazy, but crazy with access to something that can do a whole lot of damage in a short period of time is a lot of suffering for others. It's just a sad cycle but alas, if people don't wish to give up guns then forcing them won't make the situation any better.

Another proposal to expand background checks to cover weapons purchased at gun shows and over the internet also failed in a 48-50 procedural vote.

I'll add, government already labels libertarians, constitutionalists and returning vets as potential terrorists.

As far as I'm concerned they can stick their background checks up their bunghole.

Look at the IRS scandals and they got away with it too!

That number was 330 that they preached today, I'm in the road and am gettIng dirty looks from the wife I'll explain more later but that number should go down to like 20 or so.

News agencies were reporting 355 mass shooting incidences last year alone, I think even Obama mentioned this during his press conference.

According the FBI stats from 2000-20013 160 total active shooter incidents happened (including those where no-one was shot) with an average of 11.4 active shooter incidents per year. Total of 486 deaths in the 14 year span. Just will quickly add 60% ended before police ever arrived (reason to bear arms, police cannot be there to protect you.)

Gang violence is not included in statistics. Personally I could care less about gang scum.

The FBI defines mass murders as 4 or more being killed, not shot and all during the same incident. This is one way how the media manipulates official data for their own agenda. In total should be 21 mass shootings last year alone, not 355.

But this shouldn't be an issue of gun restrictions, as if this was radically related it would have happened regardless of the laws. If the people of the US like having guns, then I say let them.

Its not a matter of people in the usa "like" to have guns. I dont like to have guns and dont even own any. I do want a carry on for self defense but Im not allowed in NY. Im considering getting some guns for the house in case of a break in, I dont go hunting or anything. Ill see just dont have that "desperate" feeling due to my nice living situation. I dont like government limiting my ability to stock up and make personal choices especially in times of need. I just quickly add I want proper training too, so if I get a gun Ill take some classes or find someone to train me.

The bigger picture is balancing powers between government and the people. When you have government smuggling guns across the globe from Mexican drug cartels to ISIS you dont want these people disarming you. The number one cause of death is democide, not mass shootings. The other big picture is of a possible foreign invasion, you just dont know when it can happen and by reading history such as the Rape of Nanking you know police and military may not be there to save you. Along with real times of crisis such as riots or government turning against its people, a armed population is best as there are more good people than bad here.

We can always compare countries such as France vs. USA or Japan vs. USA, but then we have a country like Switzerland that is armed to the teeth and have one the highest gun ownership's in the world. They have weapon depots in villages to prepare for war, they study history too! Swiss have about the same homicide rate as France too even with very opposing gun laws.

Another thing is the culture here, there are alot of places full of filthy scum. I dont ever feel comfortable walking at night in NYC and various other cities north of there, and Ive run into alot of problems and majority guns werent involved. I can walk around Beijing and Shanghai very late at night however and feel very safe. The culture may vary significantly between NZ and the USA, I dunno.

Anyways, you have a good heart and your intent for gun control is because thats what you believe the solution is, so I can at least respect that. I used to be the same way the previous decade.

the fbi had the shooter on watch list, took a good look at him then took him of list, claiming he posed no threat.

trump even said on the o'reily factor that many have told him that obama has bad intentions, then went on to say that Obama is incompetent and over his head...but since he mentioned it, I wonder if trump AND others behind closed doors think Obama really does have bad intentions for this country????

Of course Obama has bad intentions, especially when it comes to individual freedom and liberty. He is the most this countries most oppressive dictator in my life's history.

Lets not forget, his real father is fbi watch-list communist Frank Marshall Davis who Obama claimed in his book as being his "mentor." The reason he moved to Chicago was to be closer with his father.

So now the US is directly targeting the Syrian Military, the very army that hates ISIS because Obama armed them and seeks to destroy them.

This is an illegal unconstitutional invasion of a foreign country, there is no consent from congress, Obama is a ruthless bloody dictator and needs to be impeached now, better yet arrested for war crimes, treason and violating his Constitutional oaths.

No i dont believe it for a second. The s s was already present at the scene before shooting erupted. The whole incident is highly questionable. You and i know that if we want people to think we are , let's say, addicted to tv dinners . Well it wouldn't be that hard to break in and string tv dinner boxes around the house . Pack the tv dinners into the freezer snap pics and upload it to mainstream media. I think that how ever this went down , the accused shooters are dead so we will never know . Look at lee harvey Oswald. He was eating a sandwich when he was arrested.

I heard an interview a female witness who saw a 3 white men, tall, athletic build a "huge gun and clips" and more.

It was a CBS interview, but here is some quotes and a link for full article.

"I heard shots fired and it was from you know an automatic weapon. [...] very unusual. Why would we hear shots? As we looked out the window a second set of shots goes off [...] and we saw a man fall to the floor. Then we just looked and we saw three men dressed in all black, military attire, with vests on they were holding assault rifles. As soon as they opened up the doors to building three [...] one of them [...] started to shoot into the room."

"I couldn’t see a face, he had a black hat on […] black cargo pants, the kind with the big puffy pockets on the side [...] long sleeve shirt [...] gloves [...] huge assault rifle [...] six magazines […] I just saw three dressed exactly the same”.

“It looked like their skin color was white. They look like they were athletic build and they appeared to be tall.”

Im a 80's movies guy too....the problem is I grew up with HBO, and Top Gun was always shown on Showtime which I didnt have.

Cant complain, HBO showed Rocky over and over again which is probably the way I am today when it comes to training. Who knows, if I had Showtime instead I would have been in the Air Force!!!

I think it would have to be a younger actor so this is a tougher choice.

going by how things are today it will probably be kim Kardashian with ellen DeGeneres playing her girlfriend. oprah winfrey will be the base commander and johnny weir will be the master at arms.

Rock was one of the first that came to mind, but then I realized it needed to be a younger actor.

Jordan won my heart over when I saw Creed on Thanksgiving.
