STINGING NETTLES ROOT EXTRACT Tested

I promised PEABODY that I would post the lab results of my STINGING NETTLES ROOT EXTRACT (SNRE) test.
These are LABCORP tests and I am on 3.25mg AROMASIN EOD.

For 5 weeks, every day, took the following;
1 NOW brand SNRE capsule 250mg (breakfast)
1 NATURE’S HERBS brand SNRE capsule 300mg (lunch)
1 ELECTRIC INSTITUTE brand SNRE capsule 250mg (dinner)

BEFORE SNRE......AFTER SNRE.......RANGES
TT 894................TT 874..............348-1197
FT 15.6...............FT 15.9..............7.2-24
E2 30.6...............E2 31................7.6-42.6
LH 7.0................LH 8.6................1.7-8.6
SHBG 71.4..........SHBG 76............19.3-76.4

My conclusion is that STINGING NETTLES ROOT EXTRACT did
little to raise my FT, by binding to, and deactivating, SHBG.

So here is my question,

Will a US Dr. prescribe ANAVAR/OXANDROLONE or
WINSTROL/STANOZOLOL to lower HIGH levels of SHBG?

Why is it that every drug that lowers angioedema (ie. DANAZOL, ANAVAR, WINSTROL) also lowers SHBG?
Yet, I can find no documented medical correlation between the two.

Been.telling people.for.years nettles did.not.work. Better for enlarged prostate..

Do you have the reference levels for each reading?

I've used a couple of stinging nettle products in the past (Orig Activate Xtreme and Division 1) and in both cases my libido seems to have gone down a notch or two. I have good results in vascularity and leaning out but the libido reduction is a bit of a pain.

I had labs done awhile ago and they definitely work for increasing free test. That is a low dose you were taking, so that may have something to do with it.

Whoa man, take it down a notch.

4 x 480mg caps @ 20% daily. It helps wonders for allergies too, and during ragweed season, I up to 6 a day. Clears everything up. Also ran Endosurge for a long time and that contains 533mg per serving at 95% extract, taken 3 times a day.

KISAJ, thanx for sharing your experience with SNRE, that is why I post here.
My labs proved that 800mg a day did little for me.
2000mg to 3000mg ED would probably get a measurable blood test result.

Do you have any blood tests that show your before and after hormone (FT, SHBG, E2, TT, etc. ) levels?
I do not discount your faith in SNRE.... I just love empirical data.

I'm sure I could get it from my doc, but I don't keep any of that stuff. With the number of labs I've had in the last few years getting straightened out, I just look at it in the office and am done with it.

Very cool pre/post test.

Unfortunate though that it didn't do much.... I was looking into nettle.

Thanks for posting the results, Mr. TT.

I was taking 1000 mg/day of the Beyond a Century nettle root extract for several weeks, and frankly couldn't detect any effect. But I didn't do lab tests.

Well, one thing that impresses me more and more is how much variation there is from one man to the next in how stuff like this effects us. I'm sure you've seen the glowing reports on nettle, as I have, but it did nothing for me, or for you apparently.

So far, I've struck out on DAA, nettle, avena sativa, and muira puama. Next to try - tongkat ali. Actually, that's not quite fair about DAA. I got erection benefits, but nothing else - mood, energy, etc. - and by lab tests my free and total T both went down.

One more thing about nettle. While its effect on SHBG may be suspect, it seems to be pretty clear that it inhibits 5a-reductase, and thereby reduces DHT, which accounts for its prostate benefits. But lowering DHT isn't necessarily a good thing, except for the prostate, since it's the strongest acting androgen. So even if it does lower SHBG, the effect may be offset by lower DHT.

That has always been the case with supplements. You do your research and then it comes down to trial and error. For me, none of the OTC products outside of noots did much. DAA was simply the worst as it did nothing but give me raging headaches no matter the brand I tried.

I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd bump it because I decided to try SNRE again (Now Brand, going to start with 1.5g/day split into 2-3 dosages).

Several years ago I had low test levels, with a free test level of 60 (range is around 45-220). I took SNRE (I think Now brand) and when my levels were next tested my free test had gone up to 90, which is still low but a 50% improvement from the last reading. I don't think I was taking much else at the time and I remember attributing the increase to SNR.

Also, interesting discussion on SNRE not actually being standardized for 95% 3,4-Divanil extract (i.e., the amount that's supposed to be in products like Activate) industry-wide, and that what's been used in these products is instead just crude SNRE found everywhere:
