Vitamin C bad for muscle Growth adn Strength Gains?

There seems to be some supporting evidence that would lead one to believe vitamin c supplementation may lead to decreased performance in the gym. I dont take Vitamin C by itself but it is in my pre-workout (mesomorph). Should I be concerned. Im not very OCD about my supplementation but if something could be impacting my performance in the gym than im going to stop taking it. Thoughts on this topic.

Its not letting me post links but go to pub med.gov and type in vitamin c alters protein signaling after strength training.

No, it does not hurt your performance in the gym or anywhere. The body needs vitamins including vitamin c for proper function.

Limit anti oxidants peri workout but otherwise they are fine :)

I see the article. It says it alters protein signaling but not muscle growth. Anyways I feel like vitamin c would be good since it is an anti oxidant and would help out recovery a little and keep your immune in check and thereby you can continue da gainz

If your pre workout contained a substantial amount of vitamin C ( 500-1500mgs) would this evidence be enough of a reason to stop taking it? Opinions?

Ive heard some things in the past about this, but in my experience what hurts your gains most is being sick, and whenever i take vit c consistently my immune system is much much stronger.

Doesn't vitamin C reduce cortisol so taking it post workout is bad?

Yes, vit C does reduce cortisol. However, I noticed it reduced it too much for me when taking 500 mg pre-workout (1 hour before). I felt it made me lethargic in the gym, so I stopped taking it too close to my workouts.

You WANT a cortisol spike from training. That's partially what makes a training session productive.

This. Has there been a study that shows how much will negatively effect a training session. I like to have a serving or two of fruit post workout.

Lol people are worried about vitamin C really? In the end it's not going to make a ****ing difference. Take it...don't take it...I promise it will have no effect on your results. Really seems trivial

I would not bat an eye to this. Mesomorph is a solid pre-workout. Although yes, their is discussion about antioxidants not being warranted around workout time, the amount of vitamin c in addition to it being the solo issue, it will not overpower all the positives mesomorph has to offer.

Exactly. It will make zero difference.
