Ok guys lol I know this really shouldn't bother me but it does. I mean yes just focus on yourself correct? Well I understand but I just wanted to know why a person would go to the gym and play on their phone? Not to sound sexist but its mostly younger girls who are doing this, like early 20's. I mean how can they expect results for the long haul if they do this? Are these types of girls happy with how they look currently and haven't really looked to the future as to what will happen to them if they continue to sit on their phones? Its not productive and I can't believe they even go to the gym to do this. The gym I belong to costs 70 bucks a month to belong to btw.

Im sure there are some guys out there that do this also.

For example other night, at the gym. Ive got the ****in stair climber set at level 15 and down below there is a girl who is on a bike, only going 4.0 (Very slowly) Then on top of it there were times where she would stop peddling completely cause she was was so concerned with facebook. She did this for 30 minutes! LOL and then after I showered I walk out in the café and there she is on her ****in phone again staring at facebook. Then she disappears and she is outside on her phone when I left the building.

Can someone explain wtf is going on here? Why people go to the gym to sit on their phone the entire time? They are not even paying attention to their workout. This girl is not the first person I have seen do this either.

These people absolutely cannot have goals set for themselves taking working out so very unseriously. They just can't.

So why would a person, spend so much money on a membership and then go to the gym to sit on their a s s?

I always have to check-in with Facebook because it keeps me accountable. Plus, I feel like people get motivated when they see me check in.

I hate when I'm trying to take a gym selfie and a**holes are in my way.... ?
(That Instagram life!) ??

Yea I'm about that life too! Not to mention my addition to my YouTube channel. Throw in trying to get the write angle for my videos and I'd piss you off beyond belief lol!

I always use my phone to get percentages for 5/3/1 and for Facebook. What am I supposed to do for 3-4 minutes? Stare the bar into submission?

I've tried the whole focusing on your next set, but if it takes more than a few seconds to go through my lifting cues or technique then there probably isn't any hope in remembering them during the actual lift.

Everyone's got a vice, man. For some it's scrolling through Facebook, and yours seems like coming on here and complaining about other people.

On the serious though, no problem with people hopping on quick to check. I usually only bust it out of my pocket if I get an urgent work email or to change a song, but if someone wants to check Facebook or whatever in between sets, so be it

Checking is one thing. Sitting for five to ten minutes and then casually conversing on the side with people is another. I've been known to walk right in front of people who take selfies in the mirror at the gym. "Whoops my bad" No but really in my opinion you're a homo if you're taking selfies at the gym. Get some self esteem and ditch the stringer top while you're at it. No one wants to see your nasty nipples. Seriously some of you guys who walk around in stringers have these nasty puffy nipples it makes me want to vomit during my workout

This person was not just checking in on facebook. She was scrolling through status updates on Facebook the entire time in her news feed. I couldn't help but notice cause she was directly below me. I just don't get why a person would do that when they are spending 70 dollars per month on a gym membership. Wow is all I can say, at a loss for words. I believe in not wasting money and time and this person does both along with countless others who can't leave their cell phone in their locker. Its insulting cause I work hard for my money and when I invest money into something I get the most out of it. The behavior of these people goes against my nature, so that's that. No way in hell does a person invest 70 dollars per month in a gym membership with their own money and play on facebook the entire time they are there. I bet ya this person's daddy or mommy put them on their family plan.

You should thank them. They are funding your gym without putting any wear and tear on the equipment.

The behavior of these people goes against your nature. What's that have to do with their nature? There's over 7 billion people in the world bro, good luck making them all think alike. I suggest giving less of a shiit.

I know man but you more than likely work hard in life and also I see you put good effort in at the gym from your photo. Taking selfies here and there, I have no problem with! That is good to keep track of progress. But when I know how much a gym membership costs and I see someone spending time on their cell phone playing on facebook as a grown adult for 30 minutes, I think that's a joke to be honest with you. When I joined, they preached how they don't want people who are not serious to be members. But then they allow people to play on facebook during their time there? Maybe I need to join a more hardcore gym where cell phone use is banned unless you are in a certain area.

When you are sweating your ass off and you feel like your heart is going a million miles an hour, and you see someone sitting there doing nothing, its insulting. Cause you as an individual do not believe in that behavior while you are at the gym. Gym to me = hard work and dedication. These people have no heart and they do not know what dedication is. I Guarantee you that when they go to class they are the ones sitting in the back on facebook while the teacher asks them to put their phone away and pay attention.

30 minutes is excessive. I'm guilty of playing on my phone between sets, especially later in the workout when I'm dragging. Checking FB, reading a news article, changing stations on Spotify, etc. All perfectly normal if you ask me. I don't really get "in the zone" so I have to keep myself occupied somehow or I'll get bored. Doesn't mean I'm not serious about the gym, it's just my personality. Sometimes later in my workout my rest is self admittedly a bit too long though. :scared1:

I guess doing something that's fitness related is better than doing nothing at all. Heck, the old guys at at my gym come to the gym for social hour, shower, and head off to work pretty much everyday. Rarely do I see them on the conditioning floor but to each his own

I can give a **** less what you come to the gym and do. As long as you don't bother me.
Facebook, phone calls, texting... Stay away from the machines.
Loud laughter and convo, go to the ****ing bar. We are working here.
Pictures, I could care less.
As long as it doesn't impede me, by all means. You do you, I'll do me.
When it starts impeding on me, I WILL say something.

Ok that makes a lot of sense. Lets spend a good amount of money on a GYM membership to have social hour. WTF?

I don't care what people think lol
nor think about what people care...

I remember when you used to have to overcome the challenges of sharing the planet with others and not have the outlet to write a 1200 word post about it on an Internet forum.

This is true in so many different ways in life.

I have a bunch of stay at home moms that go to my gym and spend half or more of their workout talking to each other. I don't understand it, but they're not taking up machines while they're talking so I don't let it bother me. It wouldn't be the first time in my life that women confuse me.

Sounds like the YMCA to me lol
Nothing wrong with the Y. Although I guess I'm spoiled as my Y is an old golds gym. 60 bucks a month for myself, wife, kid. Free childwatch and two locations, one more like a typical y. Pools bball courts and such bit also the old golds, love it
