TGR's Modified PowerBuilding v2.0

i just checked out your front squat clips and it looks pretty sweet! keep working on the mobility/flexibility so you can master that rack position. 275 looks so good i bet if you felt confident with the rack at 305 you would crush it!

Thanks man, and welcome!

It would be very cool if you could train w Carroll's crew once a wk or something. Guy would be a gold mine of knowledge to be around.

I wouldn't know how to act training with people.

I forgot to mention this morning that I can't find my average band. Looked in the lost and found but it wasn't there. I hope I accidentally dropped it in the truck. That's one if my favs.

Squat singles tomorrow. If I feel good, 465. If not, maybe a few at 430.

Based on what I've seen online from the powerlifting crews on Instagram...you have to an act like an idiot.

Yeah, I wouldn't deal with that. I'm doing fine enough on my own with assistance from you guys to go have to put up with a Bostin Lloyd or the like.

I would deal with some craziness if it meant learning something useful

Lol. The truth is. Carrol is kinda a douche. He knows his **** tho.

Most powerlifting crews have their faults. Most honestly suck and have a lower work ethic then half of the people at a commercial gym with twice the ego.

What I've seen with my time around the sport and groups is.

1) very hard workers, honest guys, and they will cue you on the lifts. Rare. I've only met a handful of people in the sport like this.
2) strong but lazy. They do the comp lifts or a main lift heavy. Next to no volume. And next to no assistance work. Heavy drug users or gifted to make progress. (Most, about 95%).

I would not expect Carroll and crew to fall under number 2. Obb is almost all number 2. Drives me nuts.

I heard Carrols are like that...

I kid.

Obb almost seems like a commercial gym with bettwr equipment. I'd take it though.

It looks tasty.

Lol!

It pretty much is. But I do think you would benefit from their crew at some point.

I'll look them up again. I'd also probably be the oldest in their crew.

A toddler. I have a son older than you...

Id probably reach out to Jonathon Byrd. He has his email on his IG page. He was never douchey to talk to. That'd be cool if you could train there once or twice.

I like this. If someone who squats a grand is willing to be cool and helpful for a reasonable fee, and can be consulted in person occasionally, that's a pretty decent investment. And he's Carrolls right hand boy right now.

For online programming/coaching, he was definitely both helpful and reasonable. Id imagine you'd learn a lot lifting there.

Wow. They are in a tiny garage. I'll shoot him an email. Thanks guys.

AWESOME!! Looked easy and the depth looked great!! Congratulations!

7 minutes each time?? You giving the man a lot of credit there...lol

Frigging awesome PR Thomas. Simply amazing! I think you've hit the 1000lb mark with just 2 of the lifts(squats and deads)!

Thanks Brian. Too bad my bench can't play on the same court as the others.

Good work Reg. 460 sleeves only is good stuff. Ive got no doubts that if you threw some wraps on you'd be well over 5. I know you were thinking about it before my last meet, still deciding or just stickin with sleeves for a while?

Nice PR Thomas!

I'd like to see 500 before going in wraps, but if I plateau that may change.

Thanks man.

Nice PR Thomas!

Thanks Collin.

That was my original plan as well. Didn't quite happen lol.

Sorry guys, what are the sleeves you are talking about?

Knee sleeves. They warm your knees up. I'm not sure if they do much else.

From my first meet I squat 463 in sleeves, and I hit 500 wrapless 15 months later. It's not that bad. Honestly I'm probably going to keep rocking sleeves for now as I keep improving.

That squat was legit, T - bet you crack 500 before you know it. Awesome work.

Nice squatting today Thomas. Your numbers are still climbing. Great PR as well

465 looked great! keep hittin those front squats and i bet you'll improve the back squat without even gaining any more leg strength.

Thanks guys!

Rest day. I felt so tired yesterday so I went to bed early.

I'm uncertain what I'll do the rest off the week. I leave Sunday for a week long class and although I'll have access to a crappy hotel gym and a pay-per-day gym within walking distance, the reality is that it'll be best fit for a deload or volume week. That leaves the next 3 days open. It makes no sense to me to jump into the 3's cycle just to take a week off. Maybe I'll do some MountainDog stuff and keep a high volume thing going.

Rest week looks good. I've never been set back by a rest week.

Remember volume is more of a contributor of fatigue than relative intensity. If you truly are looking for a rest week to let some built up fatigue dissipate after this singles week/training wave i dont think MD training would be the best idea. Just my .02 tho, i have the same problem of wanting to do too much on a deload. Its tough not to.

I usually take a rest whenever I go out of town for work or vacay. You aren't gonna lose anything in a week man.

I wouldn't say I'm looking for a rest. I'll probably make it one anyhow.
