Liftandswim's Log

Sucks about the rack man, I'm debating turning the extra bedroom in my condo into a little home gym at some point. It'll be dam expensive though.

I want to so bad also, if things ever stop breaking around the house.

Yeah, I just don't want to buy shotty equipment. When it's time I'll invest my money in some fine stuff

I know that feeling, although for me its car parts not home parts.

Found some awesome Dumbbells for sale in Chicago and another set in Cleveland. Anybody want to load one of them in a truck and drive them to Houston? I'll cover gas lol.....

where at in chicago?? I could maybe pick them up for you but i dont have a way or time to get them to houston.

Couldn't tell you man, I just like to cruise Craigslist looking for stuff I need/want lol.

That's my biggest problem, thought about driving up to buy them (14 hours lol) but I don't have a truck that could haul that amount of weight anyway.

Stay strong AM.

X3 lol

That's a lotta damn weight on squats.

I'd think not. I skipped front squats today for that same reason and I wouldn't have had 1/3 the volume.

Stay strong AM.

I'd be happy with that pressing, too. Nice job.

This log is full of crazy numbers all the time. Strong stuff, kind of scary.

I really hope to see you on the platform soon

If I'm happy about where I'm at after this training cycle (two 10 week hypertrophy blocks, one 10 week strength block, and a 5 week peaking block) then I'll compete. I know what you guys are going to say and I don't want to hear it! Lol.

Appreciate it bolt! Means a lot. Hope your training/life is going well too!

Finally hit a front squat PR. The PRs are a little slower for me lately but I can't complain. ?

Sounds like you designed the training block for a meet! If you wait, you'll just keep on waiting forever. Your first meet won't be optimal, there are a million different variables and strange occurrences you only learn to hurdle from experience. Things like attempt selection, warm up timing, stupid rules, etc. The sooner you accumulate that knowledge and experience, the better.

I hear ya. When I do compete for the first time ill do it right. Go 9/9 and make all my third attempts a smoke show. Just have fun.

Lol. If I have the extra funds by then I'll fly up and handle his ass for his first meet. Just to say I was there when the next Jesse norris did his first meet when he is taking first in the ipf lol.

As his handler, it was pretty much all you. They should give you the world champ medal hahahaha

You have to bring your own spotter to a meet?

We gotta fix that.

One of the trainers at my new gym has competed. I witnessed him fail a 340lbs squat the other day...

He'll love the weather.

I actually like the weather lol I sleep with window open until it's below 20

Lol! Dude is a freak though. Fuk those red lights he got on his 3rd at usapl nationals.

I might be up in Cleveland this weekend to pick up some equipment, if all the logistics work out.

Or New Jersey, it depends.

Deviated from the plan today. Guy at the gym wanted me to rep out 315. Said what the hell, okay. Stopped at 24 reps because I was tired. Deloading next week anyway.

What do you guys do for tight calves?

Stay strong AM.

Lol 315 by age. "Stopped at 24 because i was tired". Screw you man haha. Good work.

Tight calves i do the wall stretch and have a stick roller i use on them. You could also trigger point the gastroc proximal attachment with a ball by tucking it behind your knee and squeezing your calf against the hamstring.

Lol thanks! I was out of breath for like 5 minutes. Legs were surprisingly fine. Nasty lower back pump though.

And thanks for the suggestions!

Foam roll front and back, use distraction for stretching (a lot of times compression as well). I can't find a good article I used so I'll keep looking...

But that's the general idea and what's greatly helped my crap calves.

Calves are very tender to mashing, but nasty tough tissue as well. You're going to have to go deep into the pain cave to put slack in your calves.

Calves are second worst area to loosen up (armpit area around the lats, triceps tendon, and RC is the worst, IMO) and take a lot of effort to get them loose again.
