Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Sounds like the kinda bar you need to bench with. Explains how it sets the shoulders and gets the proper motor patterns working. Plus he says a lot of guys with bad shoulders bench pain free even with the extended range of motion.

No kiddin? I'll watch it tonight. Thanks.

Yeah man. I may even try it instead of the cg I had planned on Thursday to see how it feels with all the funky stuff I have going on with my pecs/scaps.

I'll hit my last warmup to my wussy token bench tomorrow and then try the buffalo bar out just to get blood moving into the pecs. Ours doesn't have as huge of a camber as the Duffalo Bar but it'll do the same shît.

Know what bar doesn't make sense to me? The 14" Cambered Bar. Is there any benefit outside of different hand positions and challenging your stability? I've only box squatted and done a lot of GM's with it (It felt good for GMs)

Yeah mine doesn't have as much of a camber as duffins either but a lot of guys use the reg one for bench duffin says. Could be worth a shot at least. I may warm up with it and if I'm nor feeling it do cg instead.

Take pressure off the shoulders, challenge stability, and low the center of gravity of the weight. I also like doing GMs with it. I really haven't squatted with it.

We have a deep cambered bar that is impossible to squat in, really. It doesn't have the upper handles. Never tried it on a GM, but because you have to hold it at the bottom it's not great on the shoulders.

I shall try the Duffalo bar to bench next time it at CSA and report back for us poverty benchers.

I guess I just don't understand how having a lower center of gravity is more beneficial if it's still on the same vertical line as a squat bar. Less stress on the back maybe? Maybe I'll mess with it more in the future.

Like this one?

It breaks at the delts, so you don't have the same play he has with the arms. Otherwise, yes.

Its really just how the lower center of gravity affects your stability really.

Ah gotcha. Why not hold low like that? I admit it does feel awkward, but good-ish.

Because our bar has a narrower cambered area. Take that picture and push his elbows inside another 6 or so inches.

We have what you're describing at my new gym. Except I'm not even certain it's wide enough to fit on my shoulders/back. I have no idea what it's used for

Bench
205x1 yeah...

Pull-ups/Bis/Tri's

Sent in my openers last night. I'll judge how my bench feels durin warmups. 215-225 will still allow me a PR total.

Total over all man. I can imagine how frustrating that'd be but the total is what matters.

Eh. It just allows me a little dignity lol

Lol, ya. After this meet i have no doubt youll figure out what's going on and address it. If your hitting a pr total with that imagine the first meet you do with a healthy bench. Could be a 100+lb pr day

Edit: i guess i say that without knowing your bench meet pr

Meet PR? 300lbs, 3.5 years ago lol Did 310-15 at a gym push/pull without a pause last year.

So this meet I'm doing will be my third one.

600/300/485

Last year
660/255/505

Obviously there's an issue lol

Close. I think mine is deeper than that. I'll snap a picture tomorrow if I remember.

I think ours is deeper as well. I'll get a pick this morning.

Huh. Gonna try those after fronts.

Still hangin out at 228.

2.5g of water today. I'll pop a Evomise Dry-uretix tonight and tomorrow. Today I cut out carbs and sodium. Ate 16oz of rinsed canned chicken with olive oil, 3 baked pork chops, and some almond butter.

Tomorrow I'll have some fluids in the morning and then fast. I have a 7am weighin Saturday. Easy peasy.

Did a light workout tonight. Pretty much just my squat/deadlift warm up but with a tad more weight.

Yeah that bar would be good for hack squats but that's about it I would think. I can't hack squat with a oly bar, it gets caught on my hams. Almost time to kill it man, good luck tomorrow dude!

Thanks, dude.

Woke up at 223 this morning at 7 after being 229 last night at 11pm. I've been drinking water this morning and ate some almonds and more rinsed off chicken. I'll shut off water intake here in an hour and go do another light workout. The last 3 meets has been an 8lb cut each time, and so far this has been the easiest. I think the biggest change was properly manipulating sodium intake.

That pinched nerve I had in my right neck/scap area has finally felt some relief so I'm desperately hoping that helps my shoulder out some.

Oh ya, Carhart pants rock. They fit my ghetto booty without looking like a hood rat or fat emo kid and I can carry concealed comfortably.

You can take that dryuretix twice a day I believe.

Quick 35lb KB circuit:

Goblet Sq
Split Sq
One-legged SLDL
Rows
Bottoms-up Press

Then banded pullaparts, lateral band walk, and (banded) belt walks.

BW 221. Easy.

Thinking about picking up a pair of oly shoes to replace the old ones I got from a guy at the gym.

Any recommendations? I know you don't use them anymore, but I think they could help my torso position.

I'm pretty sure the heel on mine now is 1/2" and I don't think it's quite high enough, any ideas on what I should be looking for based on what you guys know about my squat? Romaleos?

I like the Adidias Powerlifting but I don't think .60" will be enough heel height.

I like my VS Athletics. I'm actually going to narrow my stance and go back to them for a month or so after the meet. Website says a size 10 is 3.3cm so 1.3inch.

I personally didn't like Romaleo's but because I have fat flat feet. I know bolt10 likes them. Pendlays might be a good choice herderdude
