TUDCA and general liver health

Can you take TUDCA as a supplement for general liver function health?

If so, what dosage?

I have not done any cycles so not looking for info on the PCT front. That said, I do drink on occasion.

I sometimes take Milk Thistle for general health.

Thanks.

While TUDCA has been shown to reduce liver cell death induced by ethanol and preserve mitrochondrial function...The protective benefits were seen when administered at the same time OR after inclusion of ethanol.

IF TAKEN PRIOR TO ALCOHOL INGESTION (PRE-LOADED), DAMAGE TO LIVER CELLS CAN BE INCREASSED

Henzel K, et al Toxicity of ethanol and acetaldehyde in hepatocytes treated with ursodeoxycholic or tauroursodeoxycholic acid . Biochim Biophys Acta. (2004)

So, if you are going to drink...lay off the TUDCA for a day or so prior.

Oh, wow, thanks.

I was hoping for the opposite effect...might hold off on buying and stick with Milk Thistle.

...not that I drink very often, maybe once ever two weeks but I do drink a bit on those occasions.

It works VERY well for repair AFTER alcohol ingestion, MUCH MUCH better than milk thistle ever could. So you could grab a bottle and use it the morning after drinking or the night of right before you go to bed.

Okay, cool. Thanks!

So basically I could take every day for general health but stop taking it a few days before a planned night out?

The last solid data i've seen is 500mg for health and use with "other things" and then 1g for repair. I use CEL Cycle Assist for general health but if i was doing things that could really damage my liver i'd be using 500mg TUDCA daily.

I usually always have a bottle of tudca around. Not something I take everyday but when needed u can take it or if you do end up wanted to do a cycle it will be a good supp to have to add on to cycle support

I'd lay off it for a week tbh.

I can't find the half-life of TUDCA specifically, but orally administered UDCA (metabolite of TUDCA) is 3.5-5.8 days. So again, it may be best to just take it the morning after drinking and the following few days...unless you really plan things out.

Go with NAC and its much cheaper.

NAC or Liv52 are good for general health and the liver from what i have heard. Some say liv52 is garbage but others treat it a step below tudca

Hijacking your thread Shin Sprints ;)
Can anyone rec a good priced liver/on cycle supp available in like "normal health stores"? Or is Cycle Assist or similar "bb supps" the way to go?

NAC > Liv52. For anything serious (c17 alk) Liv52 is garbage yes.

Thanks, I have used NAC in the past, just fell out of the habit the last year.

NAC is great for general health. I prefer something like CEL Cycle Assist for general health, use 1-2 dose a day. With 1 dose per day the bottle lasts 60 days which is phenomenal.

Check out tauroursodeoxycholic acid on examine.com.

TUDCA is the real deal.

I used milk thistle and and liv 52 for a Halo extreme+Diabolix cycle and liver values are WNL I rarely drink and eat well tho (no sodas, minimal sugars)

What is "WNL"?. Why do people use so many acronyms these days?.

Because its been proven in rats that low rep volume of the flexor digitorum muscles results in the greatest growth bro. Too many letters typed and you'll lose gainz.

Fat fingers ftw

Tudca & NAC work on different pathways for liver repair and liver health.

Tudca primarily takes care of Bilirubin levels, keeping bile from backing up.

NAC primarily takes care of elevated Enzyme Levels like AST / ALT.

Both are a good idea when taking PH/DS/AAS, SARMS or SERMS.

I like to have NAC on a daily basis (with my Omega 3s, far away from my training). When I do drink, I jump on 1g of TUDCA (in the form of Antaeus Aegis, which also has NAC) for a week or so. Also use it sporadically here and there. I've seen it (Aegis, so TUDCA + NAC) do amazing things for liver health (measured by enzyme levels)
