I had this big fantasy of using the incline barbell as a primary lift on the weekends. Then I remembered my shoulders hate it. So..

Max Effort Pull-ups
BWx3x5

Decline Dumbell
60x7x12

Grip Force Cable Tri Ext/Hammer Curl (Occluded)
x5x15

Triple Threats
3x15

Rear Delt Flys
20x3x20

I may or may not deadlift tomorrow.

I just plain hate incline.

I think the angle is too steep with most incline barbell benches. You really only need a 20-30 degree incline not 45+.

If that. What you desire, you can put plates under the top end of a regular bench.

Incline was starting to hate me until I started Super D stuff.

I may make post workout piña coladas chased with IPA's a staple. Wonder what Israetel would say about that.

I prefer stouts/scotch ales/russian imperials. But, regardless, i support the idea.

Luv me a cold Shandy in the heat out here.

Night and day difference from where I'm from...Florida.

Considering you don't compete rawr and weren't peaked or anything Id say you should be pretty happy. Without that wiggle it probably goes up much smoother too. Great work Sean!

Oh and Sean, white Rapids is a damn freaking good pre. The lemon was better than I force max out lemon

True true. Couple things going through my mind that went wrong, other than it just bring heavy lol

Alright so meet plan... following 10/20/L-ish still. 14 Weeks out. Meet is October 18th.

Next 4 weeks will be more off-season work. 5's/4's/3's/Deload. I'll bump up assistance work. SSB and conventional, sumo from blocks, bench always full ROM, 2-3bd supplemental to add more volume.

10 weeks out I'll follow the pre-contest template. I'll either use the 14" Cambered or Buffalo bar for the first 2 working weeks and 1st Deload week. I'll start training in wraps on week 2's top set. For percentages in the first month of base work I just plan on using a projected max/possible goal #. Starting at week 4, I'll shift to the squat bar where I'll hit 80%ish and then last warmups/opener in week 5. From there it's all hitting the attempts and deloads.

Deadlift

Conventional
135x2x10
225x8
315x5
405x2x5
455x2x5 + Belt

4" Sumo Block Pull
455x3x5

Goblet Held Bulgarian Split Squat
75x4x10

Barbell Shrugs
225x4x15

What are you shooting for at the meet?

I'm really not sure. Definitely a 315-325 bench and 600-615 deadlift, as I feel those are good competition milestones. As for my squat, anything over 710 lol I have a couple squat numbers in my head that I would like but I'll see how things are in a month. Would like to total 1600+

Solid man. Making me look weak as hell and I'm a few weight classes up.

Lance Armstrong, likely the most tested athlete of all time, won all those Tour de France's without failing a drug test. Nearly every Olympic medalist is on PEDs. It's safe to say drug tests don't work.

That said, who cares. It's not life or death here (especially in the sport of powerlifting). And I think Layne is natty.

Pretty much my thoughts; except my doubts on his usage history. It's not life or death, just a shame when guys like Sean have to compete with users (and they inevitably do).

I watched this like 2 hour interview w Eng subtitles between Klokov and Koklyaev where he was laughing about how the coaches would cycle them on and off when they were maybe 16 and how they just did as told and he pissed hot and was expelled. It's just part of sport. Barely related, but that's a great interview.

Nice work on the 605 in sleeves, Sean! Pumped for this next training cycle to go down.

Norton is a PhD in this field...I think he might know his way around a piss test. In my opinion, it just makes our man here that much better!!

He is a smart mofo and its definetly possible. Though, if he were 'on', I'd sure as hell hope he could have squatted more than that! I think that 667 is achievable naturally.

I was creeping through reddit last night. God damn that meet last weekend stirred some shît.

I finally saw the videos. Eric's 1,003 squat was close. The first angle from straight on didnt look like he hit, but he put up another angle at about 45 degrees where it was close. Ernie sr...yeah no way. I cant find any of the bench videos.

Edit: what else did you see on reddit?

I think 667 is achievable naturally but only by a small percentage of the lifting population. He might be natural and a genetic freak. Who knows?

The way I see this, my sloppy ass achieved a wrapped WR with no PEDs, so why couldn't a guy with a PHD that does it for a living reach the wrapless record without the use of those PEDs? Will we assume anyone that ever breaks that record to be using? Or is it because it's Layne Norton? Or because it's wrapless? Just curious.

Its because it is layne norton and the fact that he has a body building history. IMO.

I only bring it up after seeing Amit Sapir saying "drug tested" IPF lifters and a few others not believing it either, made me wonder if it's because it's Norton or in general

I think its in general. And a lot of people are haters and don't want to believe someone can achieve more without PEDs then they can with them.

Personally I'm pretty indifferent. He could be on or he could be natural. No way anyone will ever know unless he pissed dirty at a meet. Either way it doesn't affect me at all so I'm not too concerned about it.

Honestly my opinions weren't really based around his powerlifting achievements. I was referring to his conditioning in the photo I posted. Just because they test for androgens doesn't mean thyroid function and gh/peps haven't been manipulated. Many, MANY 'natural' bodybuilding competitors have dabbled in unnatural means at some point, but blatantly refute it. This is to such an overwhelming degree that the rules against usage in some organizations simply state no usage in 5 years or the like, which is little more than a goodwill clause often. Layne is smart, and has produced excellent results on stage - conditioning that appears unnatural to many. Any time you exceed limits people will question you, and that's just how it will be. That's all. He obviously has above average genes and has done real work regardless.

TDS squat?

And they moved well. I know you hate volume lol

It drains me lol No sleep last night and powerbars for breakfast. Need more fooooooooood.

The sissy squat stand. It's freaking awesome. You can sit way back and load the hips hard, and then it hammers your quads locking out. I'll throw a band around my waist and connect it to something behind me.

I want one too. I wonder if it would help to email my gym...
