Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Is the current record for a specific association?

^ Yup. w/wraps. Next Apr will hopefully be the wrapless wr, depending on what happens between now and then. Doubtful but itd be cool lol

What's the wrapless WR?

Drug tested is 667 by Layne Norton. Im no where near that lol I'm sure that'll be crushed by someone by the time April rolls around, especially since there's more international competitors that compete wrapless

Yeah I wasn't thinking so I didn't give either of them too detailed of instructions. My fault so I'm not too upset.

Lmao that's the keyword here concerning Norton, isn't it..... "tested", not "free"..... #nattylikearnold #ifitslegalitsnatty #gimmeabreak

^i'm not saying he is natty...but i dont think anything he has done is unachievable natty. I'm unsure how so many people are so sure he isn't.

His progress has been very slow. 10 years ago he pulled 700 and just now did it again. His squat progression has been good in the last 10 years but his bench hasn't improved much since his pec injury. He also hasn't gained much if any weight. Not saying he is natty but I can how people believe it.

Do you think there's a reason he pulled 700 10 years ago, when M1T was on the market and such and most of the designers couldn't be directly checked for (nevermind gh/peps and such that aren't really checked for thoroughly, or thyroid function), and it took him a decade to get back to that?

People are retarded. The people that believe him are individuals who haven't achieved what Layne has and have no idea what it takes to get striated glutes. Also notice the large changes in trap size from various competitions? It's not like he really slacked off on them for a while; think how little your programming changes trap size (significantly) vs the changes from blasting hard.

He may have the record, but it's a sham - coming from an enhanced lifter, that's a disrespect to guys like Sean who are trying to play by a particular set of rules. I don't enter a tested contest even when I'm off.

Designers could still be flagged outside of the real designer ones that were only available if you had athlete salaries. I do believe he is natty as everything he's done can be done with assistance. He's never been freaky big and his lifestyle is perfect for PL. It's not like his total has gone 100# in a year.

The natty circuit (bodybuilding) is filled with striated glutes? Certain bf% gets you there, not drugs.

Layne looks natty, and his numbers are achieve able natty. I mean, Sean's squats right around the corner from the record and he's natural?

I'm friends with a usapl judge that claims Norton gets randomly tested a few times every year and has always come up clean. His thought is that he's either clean or is using something that they aren't testing for.

Well, he does hold drug tested All time world records. So that would by definition push you to what 1% of 1% of guys his size could achieve naturally under optimal conditions. So, attainable? Yes. But only if you're both gifted and diligent.

Yeah I've seen/heard elsewhere of IPF competitors being tested throughout the year. They'll also not allow you to compete if you're associated with any known user.

Yes, you have a point. I never said someone with his level of strength wasn't extremely rare. All i was saying is i dont see how people can say that they are so sure he isn't natty.

Lance Armstrong, likely the most tested athlete of all time, won all those Tour de France's without failing a drug test. Nearly every Olympic medalist is on PEDs. It's safe to say drug tests don't work.

That said, who cares. It's not life or death here (especially in the sport of powerlifting). And I think Layne is natty.

I'm sure an IPF meet would be a bit strict, especially since they'll pull guys off the platform second their lift is done to piss. But, it's always a possibility?

That's what my meet did. Soon as I set my dead lift down. And the guy WATCHED me piss..

Read some article on chewing gum that Ed Coan shared on his FB. It said how the jaw muscles that get tight from it can cause the hips to get tight. I'm guessing the fascia is all tied in? But then it also spikes cortisol levels and ****s with blood sugar. Considering I'm addicted to Nicorette and chew it day and night, I'm sure something in my body is out of whack. So....I'm going gumless.

Reminds me of that Charles Poliquin video where he drags a credit card across a guy's jaw and the dude gains a ton of internal and external rotation and hamstring ROM.

That sounds extreme lol Eric Cressey mentions MFR the quad and you'll gain shoulder ER. I can believe that

Nice benching and conventional pulling Sean I don't wanna down play your obvious strength but I bet you don't here that all the time haha

I go back and forth on layne. Honestly, with what he does, and how long he has been at it, I honestly think his numbers(especially bench and dead) would be higher if using. Plus he would likely have obnoxious traps.

I think the other thing about Layne: drugs or no, he's not on the doses that a guy like Lilliebridge or Big Wayne or Disbrow is on, so it's really a who fckin cares situation either way. Just my opinion.

Beating a drug test to win a local tested comp = douche
Following the rules set forward by the Fed re: drug testing and passing the test for an ATWR = part of the game.

Beating a drug test is just beating a test.. Guys do it at all levels and in all sports, just part of the game anymore.

I was checking my phone repeatedly today to hear about you squatting 635 in sleeves until I realized the big day was tomorrow.

605

Lost center of gravity so I struggled not too lose my chest coming out of the hole. Not too happy but still content I can do over 6 wrapless. Side view got my barely breaking parallel. Meh. Grind.

565 felt good. 605, lost some balance and hips lost some ER.

14 weeks out. Maybe 13, need to re-count.

Well, we saw some leg/hip deficiency in there, So we know where to work! Let's get after it!

Yup! They wanted to come in on 565 but was able to keep them pinned out. Hips hips hips hips

Hips aren't a problem for you in wraps though. There was no evidence of hips losing control on 710. Support in the hole lets them do their job easier. Hard to say where I'd want to work if I were you. Probably hips just to smooth out that wacky descent you had with 710.

Yeah, man. It'll be the SSB until I get I'm maybe 7 weeks out so that should help get the hips strong.

I just got Gangsta Wraps. They're actually really nice. I like the Titans I have but hate how they wrap. And my EFS's have just been worked.
