I would like to see some statistical data (if it exists) that show life choice influences. To say that a kid will likely be gay, because their parents are is silly. My father was a barber, neither my sister nor I chose that vocation. Also, this is assuming that homosexuality is a choice, and I firmly believe it is not. Why would anyone choose a life where you are discriminated on based on who you are attracted to? Its silly

the question I pose in detail was "what will the family unit look like" based on these new inputs.

The data may not exist yet but we cannot just close our eyes and ignore the "butterfly effect" when we change the whole dynamic.

Additionally - discrimination is being obliterated and LGBT is accepted and celebrated so that "why would I chose this hard life" holds not water IMHO

A large majority of children follow their parents thought process/lifestyle in many different ways (obviously we know there are exceptions/variations/deviations). When I meet with parents and students it's usually a spitting image mentality on whatever the subject may be.

Obviously it is far too early to tell and there may be no actual causation in some cases but to say they won't be influenced is a stretch. I don't agree with a lot being said itt on either side but homosexuality today isn't discriminated against. It's glorified. If you disagree with the lifestyle based on your religious beliefs you're a bigot. The same people that preach
acceptance of all-no hate speech- etc are the exact same ones hating Christians, spitting on catholic priests, and more if you don't agree with them. It's only "freedom and acceptance for all" unless you disagree with them.

Fwiw I appreciate your opinions on any subject, but I am truthfully lost on this one. Gay and lesbian people have always existed and to me allowing marriage is a sign of social progression and allowing it doesnt benefit me or hinder me at all. In fact, had America not made a huge deal over this I doubt I would have even remembered my lil ol country had done it some time ago.

Religion pushes us back to the dark ages with their thinking and ideologies. It expects society to behave and function in a similar manner to how to did thousands of years ago which simply cannot happen. Society is dynamic amd therefore so to should be religion. I know what the bible says about homosexual relations but does it ever occur to anybody in religions that not everyone is bound to the same beliefs they are? Why must they conform to an idea they dont believe in.

Relgions have done it wrong, IMO by being so against it that now this whole thing is seen as a Relgion vs Homosexual type deal and now relgions are losing face because of it. We are here to show people love, not do Gods condemning for him.

I see parents fail at being parents daily - using drugs around children, abusive to their partners, stealing and so on - so shouldnt we focus on destructive behaviour types and not ones modelled around love?
 
I do know a 5 year old whom I'm pretty sure will be gay when he grows up and I felt this way way before now. This changed my perspective of whether it is a choice or just born into it. Ask me in 15 years if I was right.

These religious nuts like Dunn warp the evidence to fit their already-held asinine religious doctrines. Most people do the opposite: look at the evidence first, then form their doctrines. No logical point has been made regarding why marriage for homosexuals is dangerous. It's simply fearmongering at its worst; what religion does best.
 
But where do you draw the line now since the lines been blurred? How about a son marrying his father or a daughter marrying her mother? It's all love, right? So, since I love 2 or 3 women, let me marry them all? C'mon.

There will always be something to push to the limit. The question is how far can the limit be pushed until we as a society are broken. Make no mistake, I have friends that are gay.

Maybe so, but does this apply to all children raised in households with gay/ lesbian parents or contrary, have all homosexual people had homosexual parents?

No. Its not that simple.

Also the slippery slope argument is just that. Think about this argument: the US already allows weapons, how long now until they pass a law until we can carry rocket launchers?

In some countries you can already marry multiple partners

i made no statement regarding religion whatsoever. I referred to nature vs nurture yet you continue to harp on religion. Clearly you didn't read what I wrote. Therefore you have not responded to anything I have said but what you presumed think or feel.

I did not bring religion into this argument AE asked a question regarding OT/NT which I did not use as the basis of anything I posted. I linked the first Google link that came up so he could read the verses he had asked for. Irrelevant of the validity of the source, the scripture is the same. Yet you Christian haters continue to berate my faith which I was not even basing my point on. You're s dense ****ing bunch!

I am a Christian, but I misread your argument. Definitely no hate here.

I also hear that in Vegas, drunk people get married all the time. I guess that at least because they are of opposite sexes its ok, but forbid two people who actually love each other. Strawman argument for sure lol
 
There will be no end to this talk, each person has their believes and will stick by them. One will say the word is changing and we have to change with it, others will follow what the bible says about. The people who are for it will say the bible is out dated and wrong by men and shouldnt hold the weight that it does. Those who go by the bible will say those who are for it have weak faith and are accepting change that they shouldn't. There really isn't a way for either side to change the others mind or drive a point home. My self personally I'll go with the bible and that its wrong, but I wont preach to those who dont care to listen. One day all this will end and we'll all get the answer on weather our beliefs are correct or not. Until then I'll mind my own and follow my own path.
 
Who tf cares if there is an increase in openly gay people in future generations? Thats not a problem and never was. Judgemental a**holes that want to force people to hide their true selves are the problem.

If you didnt choose to be straight at some point in your life, then dont assume that people that are gay chose it either. It makes no sense to label one natural and the other a "choice".

I am not judging I am making the point that it effects everyone and all our future beyond what the narrow minded view would have us believe.

I'm not making and faith or Christian stance whatsoever.

How many more ways can I present my case without people just missing it over and over and over again. It is infuriating...

edit- to your point about drunken Vegas wedding. She gets pregnant, has the baby, they divorce because she realized it was a mistake to drunk marry, she adopts out the baby, the kid is abused, he picks up a gun....

Come on. Every action has an effect exponentially.

I think any posts where I called somebody an idiot were deleted. That was somehow more offensive than the rhetoric of Dunn throughout this thread.

Haha, my comment was just a throwaway at how the santity of marriage is long since gone. I certainly do not agree that marriage should be a "past time" or something that can be done on a whim. It was strawman at its finest.

The moderator title does not preclude me from doing the same. As a moderator I enforce board posting rules. As a moderator I am not required to be neutral or abandon my convictions in a discussion simply because they are not popular. I will stand my ground "badge" or "no badge", in the face of you or anyone else, as long as I please and have done so long before you arrived here.

You make it a point to denigrate ANY point I make that is contrary to your point of view. You are not my judge.
