Herder's 2014 Log: All About the XPC Semi's

Saw the Squat on insta last night....was impressed. Nice work on all the lifts! Congrats.

Great job man! I'm coming for that total. Be ready.

I'm glad that tip helped ya. It has saved my pecs and helped me take advantage of my strong triceps more for sure.

Wow that brutal on the shirt. He could have gotten that bad material that was floating around. The last round of black shirts were faulty. They don't stretch back.

Awesome job; I know you beat the command but congrats on hitting a 400+ raw bench in comp after a big squat. I know it wasn't counted but it's great that you know you've actually done it, for next time.

I think the tricep squeeze made the difference on my last bench last weekend too, fwiw. On my maximal attempts sometimes I get sloppy and touch an inch high or low from my sweet spot, but the tricep flex kept it consistently hitting the same groove.

Here's the squats and benches. The deadlifts never happened...

Second squat was a tough call ma man. You had an awesome meet la dude
Yeah, but I think they made the right call and I'm glad it happened on my second rather than my third. I think it's a nice thing to know the squats I did make were totally legit, too.
That's an impressive arch big man
Thanks, man. Wrestler's bridges for 12 years helps with that.
Man u can really see the stopping power of them wraps stops u then sink it a bit more then explode up
I know right? Great wrap. Perhaps this will be Sean's formula for success in Overkills. Patience to open and sink it. Could be 750 or somewhere in the neighborhood.
You crushed that, man
Thanks man, I really wish I would've waited that out. I wanted 402 so bad.

Pec update: swelling, limited range of motion in lateral raise to overhead. can't get my hand much above my head. Same with raising to the front. It doesn't hit a wall, it just stops from tightness and then I can push through it. It looks like I'm missing some mass in the armpit. But range of motion and ability to abduct the arm without pain is much better. I could barely load the deadlift bar or put my lever in its holes yesterday. Today I tried a push up, there was a lot of Pain and weakness. But the super d routine helped. Did very light mace swings. Still want to wrap, ice, Epsom salt and other stuff. I won't be able to do overhead press in a conventional sense, but I'll be rack pressing and hammering the shyt out of my triceps for the next few months. As soon as my pec is 100% healthy, I'm doing another meet, likely RPS so I can lift at the Arnold.

There's an RPS meet in Lancaster in August. I'll be jumping in that one. I dont know if your pec will feel better by then or not but we should have a good crew of guys heading out to that one. 2 guys looking for 2k raw.

Won't be ready in time, I've tried the four weeks off of benching twice now with no luck. It was suggested to me this weekend that this next time I do more than a few weeks of 135-225 but instead a few months. I'm going to start looking into healing drugs because I'm ready to be done with this mess.

Another thing from this weekend: if you go on Josh Stottlemire's Facebook he has a picture of him dumping 683. The comments section is pretty funny.

Found a deadlift video, only my second attempt:

Looked like it took no effort on that pull.

Heal up man. I know hjh is also out do his pec too. Got an MRI and if surgery is an option he is taking it as he is over it too.

Just watched your Squat and Bench video. That's some good strong **** right there. Had to consult google to convert those crazy lb numbers into Kg's to make sure though :D

Definitely agreed with the refs on the second squat but it didn't matter coz you totally buried the third.

I might sound like a noob asking this but I've not seen the phrase in my time powerlifting........what's a "Beat Rack"???

Yeah I'm really curious with this freaking gap in my armpit what I have going on here. If it heals messed up I'm limiting myself. Don't want that.

I don't know if I feel sorry for you, or if I'm pissed off that you bench more than me with a gap in your armpit.

Heal up, mane!

Go get an mri done. See how bad it is then decide what to do from there. Or tear it more if it heal funky then get surgery .

Idk if you were using any orals coming into the meet, or more relevantly if you feel like running any now, but I've anecdotally read that anything that really raises RBC seems to really speed healing. Anadrol, in particular, I've heard several stories of it promoting remarkably swift recovery. I imagine EQ takes so long to build up, and Tren is hit or miss for a lot of people they're not used as much for that. Even dbol, via just the general increased protein synthesis allegedly helps.

Some of the peps and gh if you have the money and don't mind several subq injections/day. If you had broken bones gh and SARMs would def be where it's at. There's a new oral compound, MK-677 that's just really hitting supp stores that supposedly is a secretagogue for IGF-1 & GH. I haven't read any anecdotes with it but Blackstone Labs has a product, Xcel, Primeval Labs are all selling it if you just want an oral. I'm gonna be starting it in a few weeks probably so I'll tell you if I notice anything.

Dude that 584 pull looked like an opener.

Lol the gap appeared mid bench, I got the press command intact.

Yeah I dunno. Even saline injections would help. We'll see when I can get an MRI.

Thanks, man. I opened 540 to make sure I could squeeze the bar hard enough to break the ground. A crew member wanted me to take 633 on my third.

Did a thousand facepulls (probably closer to 150) and a new volume PR on mace swings, however many I did. Did some triceps, rolled, wrapped, and did my first weighted split squats in I don't know how long. Front rack didn't bother me, pretending to do low bar didn't bother me, and holding PVC overhead didn't bother me. Mashed the pec with a 10# KB. Still feeling my way through it.

How would saline injections help? *srs question; I'm just totally ignorant to their usage*

I've been told the injection causes minor trauma causing localized GH release. The guy who told me had a silver dollar sized bruise right in the belly of his bicep when he told me this. Three or four weeks later, I see a video of him pulling in the low 6s for a triple.

FWIW, there's as many guys that will tell you that localized injections work as there are guys who say there's no such thing and it's systemic. As in, the injection trauma will obviously be localized but the GH response is throughout the body.

Let's just say it's common practice at the top of the game. Know how Malan was supposed to lift at CAPO but didn't? Little known fact is that tore a hamstring so badly that he had blood showing up under the skin throughout his whole leg and up in his lower back. 3-4 months later there was a new all time total record. These guys know some things that the guys in lab coats haven't put their finger on yet.

I've heard that the Westside guys use saline injections to help injuries. I'm sure you could find out more on outlaws.

I'm not saying it doesn't work - the reality is that it doesn't matter how it works, if it's localized release of growth or systemic - like you said, what matters is what works. And the top dogs are doing some pretty advanced sh*t.

Local guy (who's pretty strong, 1800+ classic raw total @ 242) alleges 'his buddy' was paying Dan Green for some help. Idk if there was any training or nutrition advice, but I do know Green was giving him a "hypothetical" protocol. He said 12 weeks of orals leading into competition; his liver was working so hard he couldn't get his calories in and was actually losing weight on all kinds of gear, unintentionally. He said Green was suggesting thousands of dollars of GH and peps/month; he literally couldn't afford to run his "hypothetical" protocol with a full-time job.

Not surprised by greens comments. Saline worked for Schwab when he torn his bicep getting ready for relentless. He competed just fine and the torn bicep was still his underhand.

Soooo I guess my question is wouldn't the damage have to be something the body can rebuild, thus the saline causing a chain of events that leads to the quickening of this rebuilding process?

Thats pretty much what I gather. Saline is good for small injuries but large injuries it will do very little.

No, Green is a WR holder. I can see doing anything if you're at that level. Not saying I'd do it, but I can sympathize. The other guy who was following the protocol

Well, that's the thing - that's the kind of mindset the guys at the very top have to have: do anything and everything you can handle that helps. You don't get to the top by having reservation. Guys like Green will make the bargain for the horsepower.

The other guy tried the oral part but quickly discovered genetics for drug tolerance (and response) are very much relevant and very individual. I don't think he could even afford to try the GH protocol.

Saw some faint yellow in the area last night. Don't know why the blood showed up at this stage of the game. I still want a picture of what I'm looking at and my options before proceeding. I don't remember how long it took the pain to subside last time either. I'll train lower body tonight and start working my way back into things. Not looking forward to reps at all

Yeah, If you have a guy purple with drugs (that's always a fun look) and can't total 2000, I don't know what to tell them. You see it a bunch, but I don't get it. Delusions of grandeur? Psych issues? Hard to say. It's not a good investment to hedge health against a title or a number that does nothing for you or your family. You wanna squat 900? spend $600 on Predators and a Leviathan and spend a couple years in it. You'll sleep better at night, literally.

Speaking of Leviathan suits, I want the new one. It looks awesome.

What's the difference other than color? Has Inzer released info yet?

What Sean said. Canvas that doesn't care if you're 3-5lbs heavier or lighter that takes less than five minutes to get into.

Back at it!

SSB box squat (briefs)
320+120Chn x6x3
Drop briefs, move to narrow stance and 12" box
230X3x6

Landmine Squats
90x2x12

Felt good to get back under the bar and to be in my briefs. I'm just tooling around for a little while before I decide on anything.

Ive tried those landmine squats once before as an accessory. I couldn't figure out how to rack the bar without my pecs fatiguing out way before my legs.
