The Day You MODERNIZE Your Protein! ModernPROTEIN Coming!!

Got mine tonight and broke right into the vanilla ice cream. Used two scoops to make... You guessed it, vanilla ice cream.

It does mix up slightly thinner than OE but still has the same creaminess. The ice cream came out with a nice thick texture, but still fluffy enough that it expanded a good bit in the mixing bowl.

Flavor is a sweet, creamy vanilla. Very similar, if not almost identical to the OE flavoring. Nothing flashy or original about the flavor but a good, simple vanilla. If you liked the original, this will suit you well.

Overall I enjoyed it, but it's definitely nothing original or different. An average to good showing of a classic flavor.

Nice, thanks for your feedback booneman!

My review will be up tomorrow
Let me get in the kitchen classic34 i have a cake with your name on it.

YES! My recreation will probably be a little sloppier than yours, but just as tasty!

Tried out the chocolate tonight (in ice cream, same as the vanilla). Mixes up slightly thicker than the vanilla. The flavor is, again, a basic chocolate. I do t know if I would call it rich, but it is certainly a slightly stronger/bolder flavor than the vanilla was. I enjoyed it as much if not very slightly more actually and I'm not a chocolate person.

Same as vanilla, it's a basic flavor, fairly average, but enjoyable for its common nature.

As long as it tastes good right :)?

Did you have the OEP Chocolate? Comparison?

Just had 2 scoops of Chocolate with my oatmeal this morning, Very Tasty !!

Did you have the OEP Chocolate? Comparison?

Yes, pretty similar. I'd say 90% the same, slightly different texture, a little sweeter, not as bold of a chocolate flavor.

someone please mix the vanilla with orange juice and tell me what you think.. haha.. thats what i really cant wait for..

I'll mix it with Orange Triad + greens. It'll be close to the same effect.

haha for a second I was thinking of oximega greens and was like "Ew, you'd mix it with that weird minty powder... bleh"

The orange triad still tastes like lightly sweetened minty flavor. I will be honest that doesn't sound too appealing as a vanilla protein mixer

Tried mine this morning to make a pumpkin pie smoothie. I used the OEP version with this frequently and wanted a comparison. It's a little less thick than the previous version, but the flavor is still as good. I prefer a thinner shake so it was perfect for me.

Taste

Vanilla – The vanilla is a very similar taste to the Oxy Elite. The creaminess, density, and bold vanilla flavor are all still present. This was pretty close to a smooth French vanilla coffee creamer. The initial vanilla taste is present, dense, and provides a great luscious flavor. The aftertaste is the icing on the cake. While the oxy Elite was good, I found this to be better in taste (creamier vanilla). I did not rank Vanilla as my highest flavor compared to the fruit flavors on the OE protein, but I am really happy with how this is a better tasting product than the Oxy Elite. USP labs upped their flavoring game in this vanilla protein powder.

Chocolate – Oxy Elite Chocolate tasted like a Devil’s Food Cake/Brownie, then came Modern Chocolate. This Chocolate has a darker, richer, and denser flavoring compared to the past product they offered. Think about taking a Hershey Special Dark Chocolate bar and melting it into the Oxy Elite Protein powder. USP labs made a very bold flavored chocolate that is going to leave people who enjoy dark chocolate very happy. Not only is this flavor rich right from the get go, the aftertaste is long lasting and leaves your mouth watering. Between the two the Vanilla was an upgrade, but I am still a chocolate fan by heart.

Mixability

Modern Protein is on the thin side. Upon mixing it to your desire it will start to dissolve on its own. Even with a spoon mixed into a shake (as some others have noted) it dissolves in a heartbeat. Myself I always test protein first mixed in yogurt (protein Pudding) and it mixed with ease and came out on the thin side. I also enjoy baking with protein powders. Isolate protein powders rise very well, mix very well, and create a good baked good.

Formula

Invalid Link Removed

Per Scoop:
~3.5g Fat
~2-3g Carb (2 Vanila, 3 Chocolate)
~23g Protein

USP Labs uses a triple isolate matrix containing MPI, WPI Hydrolized WPI. In the modern protein blend there are also forms of WPC and Casein. Compared to the Oxy Elite Protein there was a drop in the Rapid Burn Lipid Complex (MCT, Green Tea and Raspberry Ketones) while still keeping in the High Oleic Sunflower Oil. The Formula’s are a bit different overall but the Modern Protein contains a higher Isolate content. Due to the higher isolate content is also a reasoning behind the Mixability and thinness of the powder.

Cost

On the IC release you got 4lbs of your choice for 35$. Either 2 Chocolate, 2 Vanilla, or 1/1 of each. 35$ for 4lbs of protein is very hard to come by now and days, not to mention you got free shipping on top of the great deal. To pass that up is a very hard decision and another reason why I ordered two bundles due to the cost. Outstanding price, a good formula, and a good tasting product is a keeper in my book.

Made a shake with the Choc. it was just the right thickness and sweetness. This is one I will buy again !!

Got mine today. Tried vanilla in a glass of milk.

First impressions are good. I like that it's much thinner, mixes far easier, and is less foamy than OE. I had about a half inch of foam at the bottom of my shaker as opposed to 2 inches. Very happy about this

As far as flavor it's a very good vanilla. Very Similar to the OE version. Strong hint of vanilla with a slightly salty finish. Very good

Review:

Chocolate: I would have to agree with bob- like adding dark chocolate to the original OEP and thinning out the consistency a bit. A great flavor that is sure to grow on me more and more. Not a typical chocolate by any means. Right off the bat in 7-8oz of cold water it gets a 8.5/10.. Excited to try in almondmilk or reg milk

Vanilla: very similar to the OEP but thinned out a little bit. I mixed mine with unsweetened almond milk and I totally got a white cake batter flavoring which I loved! Not too strong on the vanilla but a great flavor all in all! 9/10 equal to the OG OEP in my book!

Recipe 1: "half baked" brownie gobs

Cookies:

1-1/2 scoops choc MP
1 cup Pamela's organic brownie mix
1 large egg
1 tbsp coconut oil
~1 cup unsweetened almond milk (to consistency)

Combine all and Bake (10 cookies) at 375 for 10 min (they will be partially gooey but delicious)

Icing/ filling: 1 tsp vanilla extract 2-1/2 scoops MP and unsweetened almond milk to texture

Spread between two cookies and enjoy

8oz will be way too much liquid for an isolate, i would try 4oz (but i do not do shakes) i think that may be more of a magical sweet spot for the flavor to shin due to thinness and formula make up.

if it were original OEP and being thicker in nature 8oz may be legit.

4oz? I would never buy any flavor that only was good with that little fluid. That's like a shot ha. I want at least a couple sips with some taste ha

Your buying an isolate, its going to be thin, not thick.
Using more liquid will dilute the true flavor of the product. Thats why if you use more liquid you may not get the full effect/flavor of the product.
Sure more liquid is more filling and great, but if you dilute something so much you take away from its true potential.

I'll only buy a flavour if it's good in at least 12-16oz.

I had VPX graham cracker and it was only good in ~4-5oz, was FN pissed!!!

Ugh that blows. That was always my problem with the cor pb marshmallow. Weak flavor unless you triple scooped it or used a shot of water.

Hate weak flavors. If I wanted no taste is buy unflavored ha

Which comes back to this point.
more does not = better. that applies to a lot of things in the supplement world :)

I accept your argument in general, some companies add in too much colours & sweeteners. But protein is not that hard to flavour imo, having flavoured my own with a stevia based flavouring. What I hate is when you get two different flavours of the same profile from the same company and one you can use a lot of liquid and the other you can't.

Everyone is different...ModernProtein has more isolates and is also high in micellar casein. I use 8 ounces and for me its a tab sweet but i like lemons more than i do sugar.

I'm not kidding when I say I have never enjoyed any vanilla, C&C, etc in water. Some were decent but I've never enjoyed them in anything but milk.

However, I just tried MP Vanilla in water and it was delicious. Almost as good as in milk.

Bob I definitely got a lot more of the French vanilla flavor in water

I'm at work, just opened chocolate and there's no scoop.

Edit: just guesstimated with this plastic spoon I had at my desk.

Use a scale and read the label tells you how many G's a scoop.
Contact Customer Support for USP Labs they will take care of you classic34

No worries. I was at work and didn't have a scale. I could have used one of our pharma scales but it might have caused contamination.

I have a scale at home, so I'm good....and 5 other tubs of Modern protein. What's the probability that there is no scooper in the other 5, pretty slim I'd say.

Smart man on getting 6 tubs for the price
