Smoking tobacco isn't the problem. Its the 10,000 chemicals they add to the tobacco.
I'm a former smoker (pack a day). I haven't had a cigarette in just over a week and the only body composition change I have noticed is increased body fat.
I quit before, for just over a year and I didn't notice any significant muscle gains (only increased body fat %) but that's just my personal experience.
I also just quit a month ago. Only thing i noticed is my lungs feel better. Back before they added the chemicals a lot of ppl smoked a pack a day and didn't get cancer and lived long lives. My grandmother told me this and shes 94. I also know 2 ppl that are in their 60's that both have lung cancer and never smoked a day in their lives. Im convinced that our whole generation is gonna get cancer one way or another. I quit smoking cus i used to box and i want to get back into it before im too old. I need the lungs lol. Another quick fact, Dennis wolf was a smoker until a few years ago and has been on the Olympia stage several times. Smoking is bad but i dont think its effects on muscle growth is much.

that may be true but approx. 80% of lung ca comes from smoking, and lung ca is only 1 form of cancer that smoking causes, not to mention the adverse effects it has on cardio, yeah most people are 1 day going to get cancer, we are living longer, it amazes me that in this day and age people smoke.
when you stopped smoking did your appetite increase? take the nicotine away and many do gain weight, even tho the benefits of quitting will far out weigh a few extra pounds of fat
