Article: The Best Way to Row, Period

Both Terry Crews and the guy in the video would appear to be pulling his elbows too far back, based on the picture guide above.

If you look at YouTube videos pro bodybuilders and General big guys like terry crews often use horrible form for most exercises

Does the overhand row offer any benefits that the underhand doesn't? I've been doing that that way forever.

overhand doesnt use biceps as much. So its safer for your arms. Also it automaticly makes your grip "wider" hitting rhomboids, trapezius etc diffirently.
Overall overhand is safer but you can use less weight with it. Also it hits back abit diffirently. Basicly could say that using overhand isolates it more on back while with underhand your arms do half of the work. Also underhand hits lats abit more. while like i said earlier. Overhand isolates mid/upper back more.

Just try both. You will feel them diffirently. I would recommend to do both. Also angle of your torso affects how rows hit your back.

Many people dont do underhand with big weights since there is high risk of bicep tendon injuries on bigger weights. Its same as doing dead lift with mixed grip/underhand vs overhand.

PS. for quite many underhand grip feels uncomfy on wrists.. if thats the case. Try doing rows with ez bar.
