You're competing multiply right? How does a multiply DL suit compare to single ply? Just curious.

It's easier to get to the bar, but releases less pop as well. If you can crank the straps just right, and hold the position, the carryover will be similar.

Gotcha, thanks.

First, and last, time I ever do this in the same day, but circumstance left me without a choice. Two geared lifts in the same day is just not something the human body is meant to do on a consistent basis. That being said, bench is going so well right now. I didn't get the set with 545 recorded and recollection is never indicative of true speed or ease, but the feedback was fantastic on it. The shirt really starts to bite hard once you get to a 1-board, but coils equally. If I can handle it in my hands, I'll be able to eventually get 300# out of this bad boy.

Squats felt good, but I really need to brace my lats harder. I had trouble getting in my full air and compressing my torso, but they felt solid overall. The day definitely went better than I expected and my unracks FINALLY felt really good. The only good part of having a cranky back is that it gives me instant biomechanical feedback on whether or not I'm in the appropriate position. Other than the knee cave on the second rep, they looked good to me, but, please, tear them apart even on the YouTube troll level.

Nothing I could see man, both lifts looked fantastic. And with speed!

I have nothing to add man, good lifts. A touch of knee cave you already pointed out. Id be so happy with a day like that.

My firstborn arrived today at 5:34AM. Good thing I planned a deload for most of this week (sans squat).

Congrats man.

3 days old and he's already made me proud: he needs a bigger size diaper to accommodate his thigh girth. He's already a squatter.

That last inch or so was very hard to groove and I almost lost it at the bottom. It wasn't ultra pretty, but it at least gives me an idea on where to go from here.

Critiques?

Looked smooth to me. You went went lower instead of down that last half in or so. Great lift. Very happy for you. I knew low 5s would be a smooth touch. 510 would prob be a perfect opener imo.

Think I should've done more drift and a little less tuck?

Huge bench man.

Ok, this may be a stupid question, but, why so slow on the descent?

I ask because I was told my descent on my maxes was too slow and may take some out of me.

You have to find the groove while in gear. Like any piece of equipment, proper technique for maximal carryover has to be learned. On raw, it is correct that you want a faster descent to take advantage of the stretch reflex. Gear is kinda like winding a catapult. It takes longer and is much more difficult, but the release of energy is much higher.

Got a stomach bug that might shut me down for a few days. I've dropped 11# since last night so far. FML

Nuked that five wheels! You were missing a pair of 2.5 plates though. Hope the bodyweight comes back quickly.

Felt pretty good today as evidenced by the heavy OHP. I don't feel mentally back to 100%, but it didn't show today. Weight is back up to almost pre-bug levels and started taking probiotics to undo some of the damage.

That'll likely wrap up my deadlift training for this cycle. Zero issues along the way sans that fingernail incident. Traps are quite sore this morning as I let my upper back round on the SLDL to hit them harder. Overall, I'm very happy with how my deadlift was progressed recently. The goal for April is 655-666 depending on it all goes. Today was also done without any ammonia before the big pull.

:( any day now for me God damnit

It's funny how this has really changed my view f training. I'm really just having fun right now with a somewhat scientific approach instead of getting OCD about my numbers, speed, technique, weight, etc. I hope it pays off and I go in more relaxed and not as compromised on recovery.

What kinda approach are you using now?

Remembering that this is a hobby and not stress myself over a bad training cycle. I'm still following an abridged block cycle for the main lifts, but I'm expecting additional fatigue. Assistance had been lowered as well. I'll be using the squat cycle you sent me for my next meet, though.

Jinxed myself today. I had a completely crap session. I didn't feel ready to go after pulling on Wednesday and shut it down pretty early. Got some blood into the rest areas and then called it a day.
