Just giving you crap. My advice, not that you asked for it, is to just do it. Go to powerlifting watch right now, find something 8-14wks from now reasonably close to you, and sign up & get training for it. Bring someone with you for support, or better yet get a buddy to sign up with you. And don't cut weight unless you're literally 4lbs off or less; or you can set an American record. And you won't for 198 lol

It can be very rewarding, and nothing makes you accountable for your training like a deadline to perform in front of a bunch of other like-minded individuals.

i know i want to so bad. I just recently got into powerlifting probably 6 months ago. The biggest issue is the closest meets to me are 4+ hours away. Working full time, military, and going to school full time also puts a damper on things

The only meets I've did were all 4 hours away. That's pretty typical, especially if you wanna find a bigger meet. But I only work fulltime, so I'm sure it's easier for me to get a couple days off in a row than it would be for you. But it can be very rewarding.

*going to gripe about the bench for a minute. Hyde may attest to this, but the Judge made me pause a stupid long time. I easily can double 280 in the gym all day.. But missed it at this comp. It is what it is tho

Watched these on IG, agree on the pause length.

Your next meet with a different judge you will definitely crush that
 
Yeah they don't have a lot of mercy on the pauses in the USPA either - feels like 100 years when it's maximal weight. 280 went up very high both times - it really couldn't have gone any higher without popping the elbows through to lock out.
 
For RST, do you ramp up to your work set? Also do when load dropping 4-6% do you do however many sets it takes to get that to an @9 tygatyga

Yes work up until you reach you're @8 set, then do one @9 set. Choose a 4-7% fatigue and do as many back off sets until that turns into an @9

Annnnnd in sore as funk already. Terrible idea lol also, started with my coach Tuesday. Time to lean out 8)

Next Monday I'm starting a new cycle of RTS. Which I'll probably start a new log as well. Idk yet.

What's everyone got going on for Valentine's Day? The wife an i are going to the "Heart ball" which is a little fancy shmancy ball (obviously) that is a charitable event.
 
I love the feeling of DOMS in the morning.

Will be spending valentines with the two loves of my life...ah what da heck, I'll spend some time with my wife too.
 
Nice.. I hate Valentines day. I'm not a good gift giver lol but The boss lady and I are prob just going to a fancy restaurant.
 
I think we both work on Valentine's Day. Thank god. Everyone and everywhere is a huge crowd and essentially it's a sh!tshow on days like that around here
 
Thankfully my gf is performing the theater show she's been prepping for the last 6wks all this weekend, including sat night. She's been rehearsing every night this week and again next week for the followup weekend. Since we can't go to dinner any night, gonna sleep in saturday and then go out for a big fatty breakfast/brunch :biggthumpup:
