TGR's Modified PowerBuilding v2.0

Sucks u missed the lift. You'll get it next time around. Work back up to that weight gradually the next few weeks and it'll be there man. I try to keep the singles with one more in the tank. I won't completely max unless I'm 100% I'll get it. But solid pressing man progress looks good!

Thanks man. I had 280 on there at first and at the last minute switched the 2.5's for 5's. Prob shouldn't have.

Maybe I need to do finger stretches before leg day. Lol

You don't do these already? Fingers and toes are just as important as the rest! ;) lol

Very strong pressing today even pushing when you needed rest! You'll have that 285 next time!

Some solid work even though you weren't on your A game.

Maybe pressed on a nerve in your hand someway to make your finger feel that way.

I guess it could just be a freak thing. I figured someone was going to have experienced it and suggest something. Amputation or something. Lol

Yesterday during a setup on squats my right pointer finger went numb. It's still slightly "asleep". Anyone ever had this happen? Know the cause? FWIW, my low bar grip is an elongated thumb away from smooth.

It's happened to me before and my finger was numb for days. I don't know what caused it, though.

Not the same thing, but at times when I run, my hands - fingers will go numb.

Dude... You live in Antarctica. Be happy your whole body doesn't go numb.

Could be in the neck. Probably amputate there and it will fix the problem for good. lol

It's probably a muscle that has restricted the nerve. And that can be anywhere from the neck to the finger.

Nice pressing man 280 is heaavvvvvy!

Maybe if I didn't pause the 285 would've been there. Still tho, can't PR every day.

Nice try, but it's good that you recognize you probably should have saved your load and kept on w/ the 260+ singles. Learning to be honest with yourself every day gauging your ability to train that day is an imperative part of longterm success on most power-oriented training systems. Westside, RTS, 10/20/Life, 5/3/1, Cube, Base Building, to name just the ones I have some knowledge on, all rely on autoregulation to some degree. RTS actually stands for Reactive Training System lol. But if you read 5/3/1 and all its variants, Wendler frequently discusses leaving one in the tank, not missing reps, and generally living to PR another day.

Good advice here Hyde. I get stuck going for PRs on the 1s week and sometimes take off a little more than I can chew. All in the game tho, gotta learn to autoregulate

That's how I'll approach it from here on. On squat day I'll stay with 370 until it becomes easier.

Today is a much needed rest day. Tomorrow may even be a cardio-only day, even tho I've said this lie many times. If I HAVE to be in the gym every day I need to at least do some other stuff besides compound movements all the time.

I'm carrying some major bloat this week from some unsavory foods this weekend. My weekend macros kill me.

I ate a tuna steak last night, and OMG.

Hyde is really a 40 year old master champion lifter! He's not fooling me! Great advice for this guy as well.

Yumm! Love tuna steaks...adding horseradish sounds like a great idea too!! I actually had salmon sashimi last night for dinner...Puccah you're so missing out!

Not the sashimi stuff. The texture grosses me out.

....weirdo! ;)

Yeah it's become our weekly thing to have sushi Monday! Lol

Well I know which day to come for dinner, if I visit lol

That's right! As the fish lady say (in Asian accent) "remember, the early bird get the worm" lol

I'm gonna have to do a real deload next week. My recovery is so delayed right now.

I haven't hit a PR in bench (except volume, that's still on the up) since I was doing CGBP, and I haven't been able to do those in a few weeks. Squats have also stalled since I hit 275x15.

I'm thinking a banded speed work, triples at like 50% on all lifts. Thoughts?

Tomorrow I may do all cardio, or I may do cardio and OHP only. We'll see how I feel in the AM.

Of course that's sets x reps :) I like it like I talk. I'd never say I did 8 reps of 9 sets, I'd say 9 sets of 8. I heard it is law to do it that way in some states.

Just making sure. There are others that use profane terms...

I don't even lift, bro :)

WILL YOU PLEASE MAKE YOUR DELOAD A DELOAD THIS TIME SINCE YOU JUST SAID YOU REALLY COULD USE A DELOAD??

I'd consider keeping the bands off for this deload week - 50% +20% in tension is still 70% at the top, and the true goal of this week is to unload/pay off your fatigue debt from training. The less you lift, the more you'll heal. The only reason Wendler has you coming in doing 50% work with straight weight is to keep on your form & keep everything limber and the blood flowing. Also, bands are extra tough on the joints, and with the bicep pain from squatting I'd favor recovery over the extra weight.

This could be a really good week to take the time to show your wife some exercises, and focus on teaching her instead of concerning yourself with getting metabolic stimulus. Or hang out on a cardio machine with her and talk about how much better she looks than all the other women ;)

So. Much. This.

It isn't an easy transition from the hypertrophy stuff I was doing to this. It's just, different.

70% + bands it is. :D

The raises? The feel great. I love super setting them. Thanks Mark!

and that is a deload? bestmode deload

Oh no. It's still singles week. I have deads, upper back, and squats left before a deload.

I was thinking the same thing. Shooting for 185 on OHP on a deload? Only Thomas could pull off a stunt like that...lol

Nice work man, you'll get that 185 soon bud. The OHP moves slow compared to everything else.. If I put 15-20 lbs on it this year id be pretty happy lol.

A deload deload could help you if you are in a rut. Hyde is pretty much on the ball with everything there.
