Jim's Training to Become a Human Tank!

Hit some good upper body work today.

1-26-15 Bench


Pre: 4 Acute FX, 1 High Volume, 1 Amentomax
Intra: 1 Karbolyn
Post: 1 select Protein

Bench: 95 x 8, 135 x 3, 175 x 1, 155 x 8 x 5

DB Bench: 52 x 20, 52 x 18, 52 x 12

a1. CG Bench: 165 x 6 x 3
a2. BB curls: 45 x 15 x 3

b1. Cable Pushdown: 40 x 30, 40 x 19--11
b2. Hammer Curl: 32 x 12 x 2

Notes: Bench was moving quick today, would've like some more speed with the sets of 8 but they felt good. DB bench was much easier today, will hold that weight for maybe 1-2 more weeks after bumping my main movement weight and reassess. Curls were much more strict this week, so I lowered the weight to do them. Pump was pretty awesome.

So how's the back feeling? Obviously a lot better but does it get aggravated easily?

Regardless, looks like you're taking a smart approach to your workouts. Good to see you consistently moving weights again.

Haven't had any real issues with it, every now and again I'll have some pain/soreness but I'll typically just stop doing whatever it was that aggravated it.
 
Back and Traps

BB rows: 165 x 8 x 4

Kroc: 62 x 24 (strapped)

Facepulls: 40 x 25 x 3

Meadows Shrugs: 53 x 12 x 3

Good pump, had some discomfort before the last set of BB rows but it worked itself out after the Kroc's.

Pumped the forearms up pretty good.
 
I'll have to try that. I like doing one arm extensions with a chain for the same reason.
 
Love that towel attachment haha. As long as it gets the job done. Benches look good, and easy for you. Nice work ma man.

I'm not sure it adds much more than a rope attachment if you have one, but it works if you don't.

Notes: Decent day, DL felt pretty good. No pain with them, so yeah. Had to rush through the GHRs because I had to leave for work.

Yeah, things are starting to move in the right direction.



Incline today:


Incline Bench: 95 x 5, 135 x 1, 150 x 1, 130 x 8 x 5

DB OHP: 45 x 8 x 3

WG Lat Pulldown: 90 x 12/10/8/6

V Bar Chins: BW x 9


Notes: bumped the weight on incline, still felt pretty fast. WG pulldowns were done in under 3 minutes for all sets, idea was to get a challenging twelve and then repeat that with little rest and then go straight to a single set of pull ups to failure.

SSB squats: 205 x 1, 245 x 1, 295 x 1, 335 x F (lol), 260 x 1, 205 x 5 x 5 (5:26)

Bulgarian SS: BW x 18 x 2

Ab Wheel: BW x 10, BW x 9

Notes: stuck right out of the hole on the 335, probably shouldn't have gone for it because the 295 set felt heavy but looked OK on video so I said what the hell. Hadn't eaten much yesterday because my stomach didn't feel great so everything felt heavy today. Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained.
 
SSB is a bitch like that. There is like a small make or break portion. For me the limiting factor is upper back/core.

I agree, other reps looked faster than they felt to you. Nice work jamerson

I'm not sure where I failed with the 335 honestly (core, back, legs).

I had video, but right after I started going back down my wife started filming the ground so I couldn't tell anything (happened so fast). I'd guess core, honestly. Ended up just resting in the bottom position for a few seconds and then flipping the bar off of my back and getting up.


Anyway, planning on moving to the BB II template for squats next week. Also will be using the straight bar for that workout (this was my second SSB session).

Got some good technique work in for my wife today too, really got her to where she is keeping the core braced throughout the movement now.

Notes: moved to the BB II model for bench as well, bumped the TM a little too. All of the presses felt good and quick, will post to IG eventually lol. Didn't have time to finish the arm work that I would've wanted because of work, but still got some good work in.

Workout was interrupted a few times so I didn't get to finish it all, got the DLs in and left for work.
 
Haven't trained since Jesus last walked the Earth.

Hoping to have the shed put up this coming week and have everything put back together by next weekend.


Rolled my ankle at work last Sunday, thought it was a sprain (it was swollen as fuark) but noticed today that the entire tight side of my foot all the way to my toes is discolored. So that can't be good, not painful to walk or anything so I'm not too worried about it ATM.
 
Planning on 12' x 20' x 11' (8' sidewall) for the shed. Jot as big as the garage was, but it should be more than enough square footage for what I need.

Also, sheds are expensive. In case any of you were wondering.
 
Plenty of size for the shed. They aren't cheap, no doubt.Getting one built or getting materials and building it?
 
If it isn't too painful you can voodoo floss it down. Sprained ankles suck ass. I've sprained mine a million times with pick up basketball and skateboarding as previous hobbies. Ice it too

Just getting it built man, it would cost just as much to buy the tools I'd need to get it done in any kind of decent time as it would to have it put up.

I'll just stick to doing automotive work, building might not be for me lol.

It didn't even really hurt the day after to walk on, it was really swollen and hurt like hell the night it happened but pain subsided the next day. Its the green color that my foot is currently that worries me a little bit lol.
 
Ah, yes. Buying tools. I shudder to think of what the contents of my boss's work trailer total up to.
 
I'm the opposite; I'd rather build a house than fix a car.

Looking forward to seeing final pics of the shed.

Yeah, I'm already wasting enough money on tools....

Still need (used loosely) an engine hoist, torque wrenches, air compressor, power washer, etc.

Its slow going, hell I don't even have a legit toolbox yet. Just various wrenches,a socket set, screwdrivers, hammers, and pliers.

Building it doesn't sound so bad, but without power tools it would take forever lol.

At least with the car I just need a jack, some stands, and sockets.
 
Hit a snag, have to get a building permit from the city. Said it should take like a week to get, so I'm going to try to get all the paperwork in on Wednesday.

We have to get building permits for everything here it seems like. Putting a new roof on or adding a deck both need permits pulled. So.stupid

Here, too. With permits like Jim is building you have pay for the permit but they never inspect the shed. It's just a tax.

What's the point of buying the property if I have to ask permission to do what I want on it?
 
Also, thinking about dropping to 12' x 16'.


Just did some measuring again (its been a while since I last measured) and 12' x 20' is friggin massive.

Dumb. Should get an electrical permit too, but I probably won't. Might not even get it wired, just run an extension cord for radio and fan and call it a day.

Too bad you aren'tbuilding it yourself. I'd say don't permit it. You can always run electric later.

Even if I was, I'd still need the permit because of the size. If it was smaller than 150 sq ft I'd be good.

I have a friend that said he'll come help me run the electric to it if I want to do that.
 
Finally got the shed built yesterday, got most of the painting done today.

Should finish painting tomorrow and have all the equipment together by this weekend at the latest.

Put the mats in before work today. It sucked.


Planning to hang a heavy bag in there too, haven't decided on weight. Thinking either 100# or 150#, any opinions?
herderdude, what are your thoughts on using a wall mount attachment for the bag? Initially, it sounded like a good idea but I'm not sure if trying to use the framing to support that bag is a good idea.... Could just hang it from the rack whenever I want to use it....

I dunno if I'd want to run lag bolts into a load bearing wall, but your guess is as good as mine. You might be best hanging it from the rack. I don't know if I'd hang it from the wall or the trusses.

Idk where the heck I've been, but just seeing this and your talks about it. My dream is to one day have a home and then a "shed" in the back for all my "toys". ;)

Super jealous...
