My testosterone results, any ideas??

Hi guys,

Just over a year back I took a T check at the Docs, just to quantify myself, at the time I wasn't taking any boosting supps I'm pretty sure..

My total test (which is all he would give me) was 21.2nmol/L which is 611ng/dl for my buddies over the pond which put me more or less smack in the middle.. Its pretty good.. I was 34 by the way.

Over the summer, I used Formeron 2 pumps, before going on hols, then I had another hol in September so did formeron again 3 pumps, with follidrone, I asked on the forums about the prohormone activity and shutdown and had some reassuring advice that even at 4 pumps no suppression would occur.

Recently I thought I'd check my T again, as I felt my testicle ( I only have one due to an injury as a 13 yr old ) and it may have been in my head but it felt smaller.. I feel that somedays it will be more larger then sometimes it is smaller, not by any big amount just enough to make me wanna check..

I ordered an online check from a reputable UK online chemist and used the finger prick method.. I got back my results today and they are 16.8nmol/L or 485ng/dl. which again is well in the normal range but a fair bit lower than last yr.

I've been thinking of the variables, the initial test was taken at the hospital, a proper blood sample taken.. I do not know the method of checking.. This time it was a finger prick bleed into a small pot and send it off type, again I don't know the method of testing.

Also, I'm not saying it has anything to do with formeron as I was reassured on this forum and trust the experts here.

What I need to know is, can your t levels vary this much due to fatigue, or lack of sleep or due to some environmental cause, such as stress etc.. or would you think that it could be the formeron that suppressed me and I haven't recovered, if so what would your advice be.

I've been feeling a lack of libido recently which is annoying so was looking for something to charge me up.. Ive been taking all the nattys I have in my cupboard such as DAA and trib (I know..) vit D3, horny goat weed, maca, ive ordered some more nattys... just to boost me a bit.

Any advice on whether this could be nature and maybe cos its dark and cold my levels will drop and return when the suns out type thing, or I damaged myself with suppression somewhere along the line and what can be done!!

Thanks fellassss!!

You are kind of all over the board and it is hard to make out when you started taking all the other supplements (DAA, trib, maca, etc..) in relation to the timing of your blood test. Also, the finger prick method isn't anything we use here so it is hard to say about accuracy.

All that being said and to answer your question- yes, your test levels can fluctuate 30-40% in a day and stress, sleep, diet, and timing of day all can play a factor. Total test labs are almost useless without any other labs and one test does not paint a picture.

If your eating under maintainence calories it can drastically lower test levels, also so can sleep. What time of the day did you prick your finger for the test?

Yea, my urologist (I'm being treated for low T) makes me get my tests before 9 a.m. Your levels can drop significantly throughout the day.

Id say the first time at the docs was around 10 am and my second time was about an hour or 2 after the gym at about 1pm... im pretty sure test drops slightly after a gym session? Looks like thisbmay be the case.. I need to have some baseline method in place, like same day, same time of day as I suppose like I would weigh myself..

It shocked me to see that much difference especially as my physique is a heck of a lot better than last year..anyway thanks..

Ive only just started the natty boosters so I was plain ol balls at the time.. is there a lab test that you would recommend that gives me my total, free and estrogen markers?

When you go for a hormone panel, there are boxes the doc can check for the tests they want done. I think you are just fine and probably don't have any need to worry about it to be honest.

Yea bro relax, it's not uncommon to see test levels 100-200 points lower in the late afternoon, especially after a workout sesh (stress). If you want to get retested for piece of mind prick before 9 am, otherwise stop worrying because your fine.

Thanks fellas...

Good to have your reassurance

And kudos to Black Lion for their products... Formeron and follidrone was a great recomp for my summer!!!!

This. I've had mine tested in the morning before and it's easily 100+ points higher than in the evening. That's normally why it's tested in the AM. Your all good man :)

Does the lab note what time the blood was taken and forward it to the doctor? And isnt the highest possible test level not a great marker for our test levels since they do drop off significantly?

When you go to an endo/urologist for suspected low T they want to test you at your highest level so they know whether you really need trt. If your morning levels are normal then there is no point in putting you on a life-long course of injections because you're not suffering from primary or secondary hypogonadism. I've been on trt for 1.5 years and I would always get tested before 9 a.m. (usually before 8). My doc had me take three tests before putting me on trt, and each one was between 190-250

Exactly this and it sounds like you have a good doc.Consider yourself fortunate.

Yea, I went to two endos before choosing my currently urologist at the Cleveland Clinic. The endos were ok but my wife and I have fertility concerns (I'm 31 now) so I chose to go the urologist route...and boy am I glad I did! First thing he asked me was whether any of the endos had put me on test. One prescribed me Androgel but I never filled the script because of concerns of shut down (even though the endo tried to tell me it wouldn't effect my sperm production). My urologist said it's sad that he sees so many young guys get thrown on test and then want to have kids later and face an uphill battle. He put me on Clomid at 50mg EOD and it has worked well. My test is now between 500-700 and I'm still fertile (have been tested). After we are done having kids, I will start the lifetime of test injections.

Similar. I started working with my PCP when I turned 30, getting regular blood work and staying preemptive about my healthcare so I was not trying to correct something, but rather stay ahead of it. At 35 we noticed my test levels dropping and kept tabs on it for the next year with strict attention paid to my lifestyle- stress, sleep, diet, etc. I had two young kids so that played in, but numbers kept dropping. I had classic symptoms of lethargy, libido problems, irritability, and gaining belly fat regardless of how hard I worked out. He referred me to an endo and ordered a DEXA and that started my journey. I ended up going to 3 endos before finding one I was comfortable with and was thorough in my testing. Been on TRT for about 4 years now and it is great, but it took a lot of protocol adjustment, patience, and time to get nailed. I still go to my PCP every 3 months for tests to make sure all is well.

This^^
I was 21 when I got my test checked for the first time just for fun and it came back at 300. Doctor immediately prescribed me androgel without telling me anything about shut down or infertility. Luckily I looked it up and found out myself before taking it.

That sucks about Formeron, was such a quality product, really helped so many people and very little side affects... wtf..

The top of the normal range of test is 906ng/dl according to the lab I used...

That's pretty mental testosterone.. What kind of values would you get on 500mg of test E a week?
I don't know anyone whos test is naturally as high as this 'normal' range... plus the range is huge... It goes ridic low.. I would love to see the outlook of life between someone right at the top and someone right at the bottom...

Yea, it's sad because a lot of younger guys get pumped about trt and WANT to be on it because they think it will be gainz city, so they find a doc willing to prescribe test and jump right in, sometimes without even needing it. TRT is meant to make you feel normal again - energy, mood, libido, muscle retention, etc. If you want some extra assistance, you can always add in other ph/aas, but trt isn't going to make you an animal.
kisaj Hrepp, glad to see other guys out there doing their homework...makes me feel like less of a nerd haha!

No dude, no nerd judging here. I can't even make a single purchase unless I Google information on what I'm buying first.

100% research nerd right here. I read every study, paper, anecdotal posts, etc.. and discuss with my doctors to their amusement. They love it and we have had a lot of lengthy discussions that have caused them to research things as well. Plus, it helps to have friends in the hormone and supplement industry.

Yes, some people have good results. It really depends on if your are primary or secondary and your endo should be able to discuss this with you after labs.

^^ this. I'm secondary and it brought me up from 200s to 500-700s. However, I've been on it consistently
