Sean's Powerlifting Journey

I actually don't mind grape Pedialyte lol The popcicles are all tasty, though.

Once your kids start getting sick, you tend to taste every single product in front of them in hopes to lure them into taking it themselves without force, so you learn what you like and don't like. Bubble Gum Motrin is pretty good, too.

I'm starving, but can't stomach anything. Probably only had 2k calories yesterday and then today.

I have 2" block pulls at 585/600 tomorrow, so this shît better pass. Literally.

Edit:
#YOLO, I'm benching now

Lmao @ #YOLO

Bubblegum Motrin was really tasty when I was a kid, still remember loving it. Pedialyte doesn't taste too bad; it just literally makes me nauseous. Stuff works though.

Good luck on the pulls - wish I had that in me right now. I had 3x5@430 from the floor tonight, then 455 from 4"blocks for a cluster of 4, then 2x6 @ 405 from a little deficit beltless. By the time I got to my accessories I thought I was gonna die. Every rep was a battle to lockout. I've been a bit under the weather as it is, and everything felt heavy as ****.

Nice! I can tell you'd hit 320 off the two without the sling based on how training is going. Maybe 325-330 on a good day. Looking on track for that PR!

Solid progress on the bench here. I'm happy for you being able to do it again. You are a patient presistant mofo! Good work

Sounds like my dead! It's been about a year and a half since I PR'ed.... We won't talk about how long since I hit a PR on bench, I'm pretty much starting over from scratch!
I say you bench 315 by the April meet!

Well...585 almost went up.

I even filed them down beforehand. Apparently I should have done the razor blade.

Ugh. Had one go on me at the back end of a session last week, but not as bad as yours - soak it in salt water to speed the healing! I remember the first time I had 585 in my hands, it was a blockpull from above the knee at this strongman gym with a texas deadlift bar (so ROM was like 5 inches lol). I shook like a leaf, nearly passed out, but I didn't hitch and locked it out. Aaaaaand I ripped my hand open so well I couldn't do pullups/downs for a month. Fail.

Fuuuuuckkkkkk. That made me sad for you.

Lemme preface this by saying I really don't know anything about sumo, and I've pulled I think MAYBE 515 with it lol, but I thought you wanted to get the knees lockout out as fast as possible? Provided you have the back strength to finish the lift of course, and the bar isn't hanging out in front of you.

That vid of Dan Green pulling 1003 off blocks, he locks those babies for all they're worth then grinds it through with his back.

I'm fine a smidge early. Just not TOO early. That 555 was too early.

Dan told me the same thing, I try it and find the bar left hanging out in front of me and unable to feel it in. Mine lockout together, maybe knees a touch early.

Green's style of pulling is very, shall we say, ugly and how he has managed to stay healthy is shocking to me. He uses a lot more lower back than most, but he's found a way to make it work for him. Personally, I have an almost simultaneous lockout at the knees and hips with the knees slightly before the hips.

It's the only thing I've found that has kept me healthy enough to bench.

Maybe add the slingshot back into your two board day this week if you think it will help. Probably can either drop pressing from your second bench day next week or switch it back to a light two board day. I probably would just drop the pressing. You've gotten the work in, now it's time to be healthy.

I'll drop and replace w/ healthy stuff then.

Nice bench session man. I'd go with rotating stuff like the good bros are saying. Do a full range one week, then OHP or slanger or something next, and just keep easing back in, like a gentlemen

I concur.

I'll make this weekend just blood flow work and RC stuff. I don't have too much longer until the push/pull.
