That is true in some states, but the vast majority of them allow anyone to make nutritional recommendations as long as it isn't to treat a medical condition such as diabetes and the titles dietician or nutritionist aren't being use without meeting the requirements for them.

Big box gyms tell their trainers that it is illegal without a nutrition certification because they operate in multiple states and it ensures they can't accidentally give out medical nutritional advice.

What is the purpose of this article being written by someone from T Nation? I doubt anyone at T Nation or any other bodybuilding/steroid forum goes to planet fitness. I sense an undertone of anger while reading. Just not sure what the rants about. Who cares about planet fitness here? No one so why write about it?

What is a recommendation is a very fuzzy area.
You can say, this is what I would eat .... And be okay.
Saying you should eat this to do this becomes more than a recommendation, now your prescribing something.
If a client unknowingly has a allergy to something now you are in trouble.
If the trainer had proper education, they would have recommended test done before dispensing nutrition advice.

This most likely won't happen, but it can.

I'm guessing you workout (if you can call it that) at Planet Fitness.

Maybe they wanted to warn anyone that reads this forum and was considering joining Planet Fitness.. Personally, if I was considering joining a gym I would appreciate being warned that Planet Fitness wasn't the kind of place that would meet my needs.

Love the fact that the author shed some light on what Planet Fatness is really about. If your looking for a gym that encourages you to work hard and lift heavy, stay clear.

To be fair no gym would admit giving nutritional advice without a professional in that on staff. especially during an over the phone interrogation. That and every gym depends on the members not showing up. they would all fail without that. Tnation has no room to be talking about judgement or hypocrisy anyway when their forum board is more heavily regulated then the Third Reich.

Try getting a mildly judgemental comment about one of Bioturds grossly overpriced supplements threw moderation and see if you don't get IP banned and have a team sent to your house to destroy your cpu.

I workout at LA Fitness I have never once in my life stepped near a planet fitness. I had a plethora of questions that I asked before even joining LA fitness like "can I deadlift? can I lift heavy weights? Is it ok if people are loud? Lol but thanks for assuming you know me dip****. I just don't give two ****s about planet fitness. Maybe you couldn't comprehend the point behind my previous post. Better luck next time lmao!
