Sean's Powerlifting Journey

That sucks man. Do you know the exact cause? It seems like you are doing all the right things.

Yeah the supraspinatus that the chiro was working on.

I slacked on chiro appointments and I've majorly slacked on thoracic mobility in the last two weeks.

I had a mobility drop off like a month and a half ago and paid for. Hopefully you get it feeling better with the chiro ma man

Much needed deload.

Painless! It's still pretty stiff at the joint and hurts just a bit to squeeze it full ROM, but a DL bar isn't full ROM so I'm good. I noticed zero grip loss.

I just wasn't prepared for a TP Deadlift bar with raw hands after a few weeks of straps lol

It's awesome dude. Def going every week now. It's in my arsenal with Chipotle and Qdoba.

I think it's owned by the same company that runs one of those two. Most of their stuff is pretty tasty. Mac n cheese ain't bad either, nor is the peanut saute.

We're using brand new Rogue Power bars and my hands have never looked this bad between the new bars and event training.

The new Ohio Power Bars?

If the knurling is anything like my Westside Power Bar then I know those feels. :(

Since starting hook grip my thumb is mangled beyond repair and the iphone thumb reader doesn't register my print anymore (srs...inb4 apple haters).

Are they as bad as Texas bars?

Yes, not sure about durability. The knurl feels sharper, almost like it'll dull quicker bc it's so sharp.

Power bars tend to wear down, but the DL bar has held up for about two years now. It likely has something to do with not having to grind up against hooks nearly as often, though.

I never thought I'd read about metal bars and enjoy it as a kid. As tony Bruno would say, "that's beautiful man."

When my finger heels up in gonna take a crack at the wolf bar. Disgusting knurling. RPS guys may have used it as they are using it in comps.

Probably going to take a token bench. I can't press without the slingshot. Too much is feelig out of whack. I'm able to thoracic-mobility away any pain, but the shoulders still aren't functional.

Just hitting 225/250/275 might be an option, and I don't feel Im on the verge of gettig an injury, but it prob won't even be worth it. We'll see what #'s look like, see if I can/can't get a PR total.

So, terrible bench tonight. Followed by a good amount of barbell rowing. Done.

Sounds like a safe lift is a good call man! You'll still have a massive total nonetheless

We shall see. I'm on duty that weekend but I should be able to blast out of here. For sure on Sunday, I'm going to try to get out of the Saturday also so I can hang out with ya.

So....

I think I had been touching too low recently, especially yesterday, letting my shoulders want to roll forward, and having zero back activation. We will see next week.

I did some internal rotation stretches for the hip. Holy moly was that needed. Who know that could of held up depth so much.

Internal rotation on the hip kills me, we're always so externally rotated.

What stretches did you hit? IR is so painful haha

I'll do it cross legged (I ain't no bitch) in the chair sometimes but tonight I did from the olympic wall sit position from BASL. So ****ing uncomfortable. From there, depth was comfortably achievable, and it wasn't 'too' loose feeling.

Hang on now. I finally get external rotation semi taken care of and now you jabronis tell me I need to worry about internal rotation? Dafuq!

I've been doing a lot of the one with the KB and some added distraction. BRB weirdest tightness/discomfort doing IR stretches, but it makes a difference.

It def doesn't feel natural

Agreed. Doesn't feel like any other stretch either. It has been pretty beneficial IMO though.

I just lay on the floor and internally rotate one hip at a time, painful enough I don't need to hook my nipples up to bands and smash a KB into my gut.
