Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Those grip4orces are the real deal. I bought those when there weren't any fat grips on hand, totally different tool from the fat grips.

What are the grip forces like?

Squats
80%x2x2

Squat
520x2x2
565x2 w/ Reverse minibands that dropped loose before lockout

4" Deficit Pulls
405x3x3 SLDL
405x3 Snatch grip

Bodyweight lunges
x20 each

Well, no more carb backloading for me. I love it but I've become too busy during the days to avoid carbs. I've only taken in 200 calories today and it's 130. It's becoming difficult to get my calories in.

Used some 2M Metal wraps. Let someone borrow both my pairs and of course they forgot to give them back. I wasn't used to the cast wrap from the Metal ones so it wasn't the prettiest of squats.

Very nice work Sean, that must of been hard as **** to snatch grip. Very solid training session

Benched 290x12 on my max effort set today! 4x the 3 reps I was supposed to get. LOL! I think my bench strength is coming back. How do you like to use the Grip Forces? Is it something you would always use complimentary or would you see a benefit to use them on your build up sets to a max effort as well? Perhaps provide a little CNS overload?

**** no on using them to build up to ME. Your grip will be absolutely shot lol! Just accessory work IMO

Nice work Sean, i wish i could do some heavy snatchgrip work, i got some straps coming. the bars at my gym are so wore out where I'd grip, that i cant go heavy at all.

The video in this link shows how I tied my wraps off my slipping the end through the last turn using a shoe lace.

I like the Silvers, but they lose their pop too quickly for my liking.

The squat still looking good.

Thanks, man. Took me since Monday until this morning to release my ****ing Piriformis. Stretch, mash, distractions, hot pads, Epsom baths, that link you gave me, ****ing everything. I even slapped ktape on my ass. Pain in the ass. Literally.

The price of trying to get stronger.

At least you didn't strain your left erector racking 155 for a client...

I read lace thinking dirty thoughts then I find out you're talking about shoelaces... For shame you coch tease

Hope it works!

No idea, won't be using wraps for a while yet, but cool to know! You know what does work? Duffin's tip on setting your grip at the same width you can do a strong pulldown with & taking your air like pressing a cylinder down. Second week practicing it, & when I get it right it's f*cking incredible how much tighter & lighter everything feels.

Did all my heavy squat Cube work tonight, then got into the suit & worked up to 455 w/ straps down for funsies. I needed the stability, & Chris's vid made the difference. Beltless pause squats went better too, everything.

How'd you like the hook grip at 225?

How'd you like the hook grip at 225?

Surprisingly easy. Last couple reps hurt though. Any bigger of a load will suck I'm sure lol Contemplating hook gripping something once a session to kill off the nerves. My deadlift setup feels better double over. That'll be a long process though!

Hook gripping anything over 225 hurts like a sonofabitch!! (For me at least) hooked 315 snatch grip and I thought my thumbs were gonna look like ping pong paddles

Nice pump sesh...interesting idea on the rows. I never do straight barbell rows bc as it gets heavy it gets kind of uncomfortable on the lumbar spine. That's why I always do DB rows or pendlay rows. Doing it like you did could make it do able for me. Good stuff Sean.

Oh, I like hook gripping a lot of row and pull down stuff too. Personally, I feel it's easier to focus on the back vs the arms.

Nice rowing man. i never really do a lot of hook grip stuff, I do use thumbless grip once in a while on DB rows or pull downs though, feels like it takes some strian of the biceps.

Thanks bud, and I agree with ya.

Busy weekend. I need to play catch-up with logs!

Ordered a new belt. 13mm treated leather two prong from Pioneer. It's about time I retire my EFS Economy belt with the plastic layer.

...and some SBD sleeves that I'm excited to try.

I just setup like a Pendlay and reset each rep. It just felt better all around.

This is what I meant. I'm just used to calling it hook grip bc that's how it was taught to me.

Okay, well once upon a time my uncle taught me to monkey paw in his basement haha

And yea, I can't hook grip for ****.

Guy I occasionally train with (700+# raw squatter) loves them.

I keep seeing an overwhelming amount of love for them so I figured why not. I'm treating myself to all the new toys before mini-me #2 comes around.

Cincy, I'm really hoping to have them for Thursdays squats.

So this week is "Last warmups 2x2"....so now I have to think of openers. ****.

Squat:
Last warmup 585, then 615/645/675
Bench:
Last warmup 255, then 275/300/We'll see
Deadlift:
Last warmup 485, then 515/545/575....exactly 100lbs less than my squat...

Thoughts?

How big of jumps do you usually take in training?
