BPS: COMBUSTIONing my way through post surgery weight loss

Thanks guys!

Steve Reeve's was nuts, dude could deadlift 405 like that, & he was tall as heck too. Monster grip - bet the weight you did was serious business! I've played with them only once, enough to know I need more grip or longer arms :)

How'd those GMs feel? Mine were easier because I got to rest them on the safety at parallel, then extend my back hips & legs out of it - no way could I have taken 345 all the way down to true parallel & come back up. Not that you need to; full ROM is a ways above parallel. Shelby Starnes has a really cool vid of doing a 10 rep cluster of 315, & I'd say this is the safest way to still hit a proper good morning:

Like I mentioned, mine were more of a squatmorning variant: Westside uses homemade variations of GMs, deadlifts & squats as well as always varying bars & stances since they max every week so they don't accomodate. Hence me playing with random crap. But I think Starnes does it the way a GM should look.

Today was an off day. Figured it was due, thank God, because today was draining. I chose to work tomorrow, but I will still wake early enough to get in an arm workout. First time on a work Saturday.

Glad you got in some well earned rest! Why did you choose to work tomorrow? More money?

Oh hell no! I've gotta work but this guy is taking a day off from the gym tomorrow haha!

The overtime certainly doesn't hurt any. It also looks good on me to be available some weekends. I'm trying to get then to open up a promotion spot for me that you typically rent eligible to test for until you've been there two years. I've only been there 15 months.

Typically I prefer not to on Saturdays IF I work, but I can't wait to do legs again and I can't do legs until I finish my weekly routine.

...........

I didn't know I was working until a couple days ago, and never thought to make something for lunch...

I have 5 cups of cottage cheese to with me. I will take two coffee-protein shakes, and hope that I don't crave anything else.
I will try and be very proactive on the combustion today.

Weight is 198 this morning. Although I've lost very few, with my couple of sicknesses, the 4th holiday and family visit, and everything else I've ALLOWED to interrupt my cutting, I'm still looking leaner.

Arms on tap today. Going to take the scooter to the gym this morning even though I can still hear the drunks riding all over the place.

Off topic, I got to condemn my first meth lab yesterday. I did not have to go inside, thankfully, but it was still a cool experience.

You could say that. I have a severe fondness for women. And we all know that women=problems :saroll:

Haha yes it does! ;)

Ahh that's very smart thinking!! They obviously have already noticed that you're a great asset. OT is always a nice little bonus too! ;) Congrats on the bust!!! Crazy awesome arm workout- it went on forever and you were alone! How great is that?!

Killer arm workout!! Them 3 sec negatives liked to killed me yestarday haha. Of course I count slow so I probably make it harder on myself. I have a tendency to let the weight down to quick if I don't ;)

Nice arm workout.. it seemed to go on for days! Nice looking gym too
Agree with this. I laughed with the calf raise "appearing"! Nice job brother!

Thanks Kat! It was awesome. People didn't start rolling in until I was finishing up.

I've thought the same thing. I bet it's >3. The negs, squeezes, and :0s rests have me dropping strength fast. Thanks JD!

Thanks Wasme!

I try and do calves every other workout if I have time. I should probably switch it up to leg press raises, but for whatever reason I have to use more plates there, so between that and having to stand to change weights the seated raises are so much more convenient for drop sets.

Thanks Mark!

Set 5 : 630x10
Set 6 : 650x6

--These felt so heavy today. My diet sucked this weekend, an I had two large slices of pizza about 2 hours before working out, and I REALLY felt them here. I was winded, and when my knees pressed into my belly it was very uncomfortable. Fortunately, after this next drop set I started feeling better.

Added leg press drop set, with the gray (30#) an blue (20/25#) bands attached.

Set 7 : 360x20
Set 8 : 360x5 (released the gray)
Set 9 : 360x3 (released the blue)

I have previously been double wrapping the bands on the inside, but, sometimes it'll catch on the safety release. This week I moved it to the far outside of the plate holders so I don't have to double wrap it and it doesn't get in the way. I just have to be careful releasing them, lol. The gray one swung around like a bullwhip.

Hack Squat 431.67
-2 warmup sets of 6 to the very bottom to warmup your knees, then go up until you cannot hit 8. Weight doesn't include sled.

Set 1 : 90x6
Set 2 : 90x6
Set 3 : 180x8
Set 4 : 230x8
Set 5 : 270x8 PR
Set 6 : 320x8 PR
Set 7 : 370x5 PR (I knew I wouldn't hit 8 on these, but got more than I expected. I think I hit 6, but some dude immediately started talking to me and I couldn't remember for certain, so I logged 5 reps)

Dumbbell Lunges 93.33
-L leg x10, 30s break, Rx10, 30s, repeat

Set 1 : 70x10
Set 2 : 70x10

--These winded me, but surprisingly I finished all of them. Almost grabbed 40's, but last time I collapsed.

Dumbbell Stiff Leg Deadlift 66.67
-60s rests, slow perfect ROM

Set 1 : 50x10
Set 2 : 50x10

Almost did calves today until I remembered I did them yesterday. I will hit them again tomorrow.

I will run out of combustion this week but still have lots of DCP 2.0 because I staggered the start date. I will post up a review of Combustion in the next couple days. I'm sad to see it going because of the immense workout focus and PR's, but I am WAY overdue for a stim break.

So when you say you added the blue 30lb bands & gray 25s, you mean you're adding approx 50-55lbs at the top of the press/side, correct?

Also, since you've been digging BPS's stuff so well lately, perhaps you should check this new bad boy out:

Can't say if it works, but you seem to be liking the stuff they've sent you a lot so figured I'd support the fine folks over at BPS.

Well, when I bought the bands that's what they said the resistance was. So, yes, if that's accurate. The gray was supposed to be 30# and the blue 25-20, I can't remember. The poundage may not be completely accurate, especially as the sled drops, but I can tell a huge difference.

BPS has great products. I'm following an Androsurge log now to see its impact. I'm going to enjoy a rare stim break including DCP 2.0 and PumpX3 before I do anymore stims

Long time since I've been in here. Still killing it!

I hit the beaches in Florida last week of vacation, with my family and a friend from France :)

Just near Pensacola. We mostly went to Navarre and Pensacola Beach, and stayed in Gulf Breeze.

The gulf has such pretty beaches. Here, because of the St. Johns River and it flowing out, our waters very dark.

You know how when you wake up it takes a while to get your mind going and get energy? Well, not with combustion. Within minutes after taking it I felt focused and ready to go. I was so groggy this morning. I really just wanted to sleep.

After seeing your latest morning workout, you sold me! Solid numbers and congrats on the PRs!!!

I know it's a thermo, and it's a great thermo, but the focus is extremely crazy-good. Just using it for that alone, 1 pill pre-workout, gives you 90 days of potential PR's.

Wow I was waaaay behind on your log!! Killer workouts as always! You were obviously super focused and pumped today too!! Combustion is definitely on my list to try!!

Hmm. No thanks button, so I decide to log in on the PC and give some rep today and it wn't let me. That bites.

Thanks Kat!

That's ok! I don't even know how to give them! ;)

Hmm. So, I think after my stim break (a month prob), I wanna do a none-hormonal cycle (what Mark is running) with Combustion. I can only imagine the strength gains I could make on that stuff with the muscle-mind connection of Combustion, and the added help not overeating.

That should be great!!

Notes:

I have only one combustion left, so I'm probably going to save it for legs or Chest. Tomorrow is arms, and I don't expect any PRs on those.

My diet really has not been consistently low like it should've been during a cut, but I really have enjoyed this run with combustion anyway.

Stronger every session! Congrats on the PR!

Nice PR again!!

I like the pulldowns were you stop at your forehead. You can really go heavy and get a nice short contraction but still keep your form pretty easy!

Wow!! Super great back day!! You're a PR machine!

Me too. I can really feel the lat isolation instead of transferring the pull to your arms.

Thanks JD!
