Lukehayd's road to reclamation!

Legend
So, after being out of it for pretty much 3 months, it's time to reclaim my numbers! I've tried lifting at home and keeping things from back sliding too far but it was all too easy for me to get discouraged when my grip would fail or my fingers would just start throbbing painfully. For those that don't know the story, here's the thread with pictures. (Not for the squeamish!)

Tonights workout: chest/ shoulders

Flat bench
135×10, 185×10, 225×5, 225×3

Cable flies (high pulley)
40×10, 50×10, 60×10, 80×10, 90×10

Cable flies (low pulley)
30×10, 40×10, 60×10, 80×10, 90×5

Hammer strength iso press
45×10×2, 80×5×2, 90×5

DB raises (front to lateral)
20×10×3, 25×10, 35×5

I was pleasantly surprised at how well my grip held up with the flies and raises. It's not as good as it used to be but I'm happy with the progress! I can definitely tell I've lost some strength in my lifts but I'm hoping I will rebound quickly to get back to where I was.

Nice work dude! I know how hard it is to come back from an injury (shoulder surgery here) You'll be amazed how quickly you get your numbers back up, it's quite fun!

Back workout today

Hammer strength seated rows
45 × 10× 2, 70×10×2, 80×5

DB shrugs
45×10, 55×10, 65×10, 75×10, 85×10, 100×5

Seated low pulley rows
40×10, 50×10, 60×10, 80×5, 120×5

Behind the head pulldowns
50×10×2, 70×10, 80×10, 90×10, 100×5

Chest pulldowns
(Same as above)

I was glad there was a spare set of lifting straps at the gym because I left mine at home. Grip strength really suffered! It was also a lot nicer on the fingers so iI didn't have to grasp as hard. There were a couple times that I had to stop mid-set to readjust my grip with my right hand.

You guys crack me up.

I could imagine pull days will be tough for awhile.

If you can't laugh, you'll go insane. Then the laughing will be scary! Lol!

Yeah, pulling and gripping heavy is not that pleasant but just grin and bare it.

Thank you. I sure hope it comes back quickly! I think it will as most of my lifts don't seem to have suffered a tremendous amount but they have suffered! Things are progressing though with my grip strength increasing in my right hand and some of the movement and feeling coming back. The strength isn't what bothers me the most, it's the feeling. Finger tips on 2 of the 3 are still somewhat numb and probably will be for a while. It tends to be rather annoying all throughout the day, not just at the gym.

In!

In for grip rehab and increasing numbers!

Holy $hit, Luke! Just saw the other thread and jumped over here! That SUCKS! Could've been worse, man.....glad you're doing better brother!

A BD post! Long time brother! Hope all is well with you!

Stop goofing off and post a workout!!! Lol

Sorry caz. :spank:

I was actually out in Western Ks. this weekend and the phone/internet service is sooooo freakin' horrible out there! Left right after I got off work so no workout that day or any on the weekend. Had some good time with in-laws though. :bigok:

Walked into gym today and there was only one other guy in there. It make it even better that he wasn't even in the free weights section!! Took my Quake ten minutes prior and 1/2 scoop mixed in with some fp modern BCAAs for an intra drink. I like this dosing schedule! Keeps me amped all throughout.

Leg day!!!!

Squats:
135×10, 185×10, 225×8, 315×5, 185×5, 135×10

Iso leg extensions:
25×10, 50×10×4

Leg raises:
1 set of 15, 4 sets 10

Plate loaded leg press/squat press:
200×15×2, 400×10, 490×5, 400×5

Calf press with same numbers about after each set above: 10 ea

Kept things from going too heavy as I'm trying to not rush back too quickly. I can definitely tell I've lost here too with my absence and not pushing things at home. On a good note though, my right knee wasn't making any noises or feeling unstable.

Sounds like some of y'all need to start running some FORMABOLIC to get your estrogen under control! Sheesh! Bunch of Nancys! :)

Arm day.

Ez bar curls:

Solid back bro!!!
Its like backception with you taking a picture of a reflection of you taking a picture of your back showing an image of you taking a picture of the reflection of your back!

So prior obligations and wheat harvest have had me rather busy. Finally got back to the gym today to hit the chest.

Flat bench:

Pump is painful right now but it feels soooooo good!!

Good work luke! Looks like a solid chest session. The rotating flyes, what exactly is that lolol

Luke Are you a farmer?

Nope, I build timber frame houses. Father-in-law is a farmer/rancher. I just try to help out when my job allows. My wife almost always helps with harvest.

This is a pic of a house we did (I'm in the blue shirt).

Super sick man! My mom Used to sell for Tennessee log homes they specialized in putting together kits for Timber frame and log homes. I would take one of those over any of these "McMansions" any day!

McCrew, I remember you asking about poocah but I can't remember which thread. Anyways, she was spotted today on Kat's log. So she's still lurking.

That house is not only bad ass, but i bet you could get a workout in everyday doing timber houses like that!

Speaking of mansions, did you hear about the one for sale in Tx.? It's 50k sq. ft with a 10k sq ft deck. It sits on 70 acres and has it's own private lake. The guy selling it is the owner of, get this, Dollar General!

That is gorgeous! I've got a soft spot for timber homes.

Well we have some big hard wood we can fill your soft spot with......... :popworm:

Come build me a house lol

Any time you come up with the money, we can make it happen. We actually have quite a bunch that we put up around KC, Mo. A couple weeks ago we put one up in Richmond, Mo. (Well close to there in the country)

That house is not only bad ass, but i bet you could get a workout in everyday doing timber houses like that!
