Article: Nutrition Terms That Should Disappear

If you can't say "eating clean", then what do YOU say? Do you truly explain to every single person that asks or wants to discuss it with you that it's "the least amount of processed foods and low ingredient numbers"? Cause it's a whole lot easier to say, "clean", which it is. When people ask (which is at least twice a week) I tend to simplify things and say, "eat as clean as possible". If they ask what that means I'll explain it. The article talks about guilt but then tries to make those of us who truly make the effort feel guilty for using terms that actually make sense.

I don't get why so many people beat up on the whole gluten free thing. Although I do agree for many people it probably won't do them any harm, there aren't actually any real BENEFITS to it either. If you're eating a load of bread and pasta for fibre, then that's like eating spinach for protein. Far better sources for it.

The worst aspect is that it has spawned a load of so called 'healthy' foods that are anything but, laden with sugar and unhealthy oils... but if you're remotely sensible and have a basic understanding of nutrition, you'll always be reading labels and avoid these products anyway. For those people who don't, well, they're f*cked either way as far as I can see.

IMO..breakfast is a heeyoooge deal. Yes, every meal is important but there's something about breakfast.

Breaking the fast is really important, but having it in AM hours isnt.

I'd steer people toward heavy carb, moderate fats during a fast-breaking meal, and taper those carbs as the evening or latter part of the day approaches. Every one has breakfast, essentially. It really depends on timing.

Never thought of it that way but you make a good point.
