breezy's training, supplementation, and food log

Thanks for uppping all these vids man. Intensity isn't the word for it!

No problem, wasme. Yeah, it's crazy.

Huge game tonight...and I won't be able to watch any until 9pm due to work.

3 giant sets, nice! Way to kill it man, your intra cocktail must of kicked in good!

Thanks bud. Just enough to get me through the session with some intensity.

This morning's session was a good one, considering that I'm feeling pretty awful for 90% of the day. I hit 4 rounds of a giant set for back and struggled to make it out of the gym when finished. I'd planned on 3 rounds and some ab work, but decided another time through would probably be more beneficial for my abs anyway :). I'm noticing that addition of giant sets has me leaning out pretty quick. I've also had 2 people tell me today that my face is noticeable leaner than it was a few days ago. I'll probably be able to replace the majority, if not all cardio with them for future preps. I'm looking forward to seeing how I respond to them with a massive intra drink and caloric surplus in the off season as well.

Rack Deads (pulling from just below knees)
Banded Smith Rows (bent-over ~90 degress / focus on upper back)
Lying KB Pullovers
One-Arm Supinating Band Pulldowns (flexing lower lats hard)
Standard 2 Arm Band Pulldowns (3 second flex / 5 second eccentric)
High Pulley Face Pulls
Band Good Mornings

-4 rounds: 10 seconds (or less) between exercises / 2 minutes between sets

I did a great job setting up shop for today's giant set. My entire session, besides face pulls (5 feet away), was performed with what is show in this picture. The banded Smith setup is on the right, pulldown variations were done with the green band hanging from the rack while sitting "A.C. Slater style" on the back supported bench, and band good mornings were done with the big orange band on the ground.

Hope you can at least pvr it. I have already got the pre-game jitters lol

I listened to part of the 2nd on the ride home and am ready for the 3rd...

I'd say that's that man. Was a good ride.. but not long enough at all....

That's a wrap. Yeah, good season, but not too happy with the way it ended.

Yep.... kinda like last year... Eastern Conference Champs, this year Pres trophy... doesn't mean a whole lot if you don't win the cup

I've been feeling like death the last few days. Carbs have been very low (20-30g) and my energy is as well. Thankfully, I've been able to tough out my training sessions, but I'm completely worthless for the rest of the day. Big "Skip load" tomorrow though, as I begin to fill up early (most likely twice sometime in the next 4 days) before drying out for the rest of the week and "reloading" prior to the competition.

I hadn't had a good look at my back in a long time. This was taken early in the morning, while extremely flat, and prior to training. My massive waist compared to most physique competitors could be an issue, but there's really nothing I can do about it. Either way, unless I walk away with a pro card at Team Universe, these next 2 shows will most likely be my last as a physique competitor before making the move to bodybuilding.

Your Conditioning is crazy buddy.

Your Conditioning is crazy buddy.

Thanks bud. I don't think I'll be as lean as my last show, but am curious to see if that could be a good thing. I'll have 5 weeks to make adjustments based on any feedback I can get from the judges as well.

That's a helluva V.... you definitely should make that move to BB

Thanks wasme. It'd look a lot better if my waist was smaller. When I stand in a lineup on stage the difference between mine and most competitors is very obvious.

I agree. You'll do well.

Thanks man.

Thanks man.

Ill be interested as well. Physique is so hard to tell I really don't think anyone knows exactly what they look for from show to show.

My hunch is that you were too lean last time but who knows. Have fun regardless

Don't understand that reasoning.....if being TOO conditioned can count against you I think that's just silly.

Totally different than bodybuilding. If we are talking numbers to shoot for as far as leanness bbing you're shooting for 3-4% and physique I honestly think it's 5-7%. I've heard of people being told they were too lean numerous times but totally depends on the show.

Regardless breezy you look rad as always just do what you do.

You might as well have that pro card in your hand now! Your going to look great!

Thanks Pete.

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be a lot of consistentcy with the judging and I think it can vary depending on what part of the country. I'll get feedback at the first show and take it from there.

I don't understand it either, but have seen it happen. Last month, one of Matt Porter's guys looked amazing with great conditioning (like they always do) and didn't make 1st callout.

Yeah, I think size may be more of an advantage around here (Boston/NYC) compared to some other regions. Thanks bean. That's the plan.

1 minute away from home and starting my refeed...

20 minute detour. :(

That's just cruel.

Yeah, not cool at all. I was going to attempt to move it, but there was a power line involved.

I was hurting for some carbs too. The lighting/angles are different and I never look that great when attempting pics in this bathroom (bottom 2 pics), but these still show a decent example of the difference carbs can make when depleted.

This morning: beyond flat, watery, and miserable

A couple hours ago: getting fuller, dryer, more vascular, and happier by the minute

I'm currently starting to see veins run all throughout my abs and still have a lot more eating to do. Plenty of carbs and minimal fat.

Damn man, you are looking great, really lean, dry, vascular and just plain jacked!

Thanks bud.

The more carbs I put down, the grainier I get. It looks like I'm going to tap out at 1300g for the day. I'm taking a lot of pics, as I'm closely monitoring how everything I consume is affecting my appearance. I should be in decent shape after adjusting water, filling up, and getting a pump before stepping on stage...a tan would help too.

Poses aren't great, but that wasn't really a concern:

1300g+ carbs later and my weight hasn't changed an ounce. Round 2 begins after hitting back today.

Wow. Hour by hour pics were amazing. Never really saw that happening in that diet a tine frame before.

I hate you.

Not really. Just my metabolism.

I should give you a side by side of before and afters with a 1300 carb refeed to make sure you know how lucky you are.

Breezy- gets lean and pumped
Driven- retains enough fluid to fill a bath tub

Lol

What did the 1300g of pure amazing consist of might I ask? Gonna live vicariously through you for a moment if I may lol.

That's the power of refeeding with a "Skipload like" approach. I wouldn't have nearly the same response eating potatoes and rice.

Lol. You could work on changing that. With time, you may become a carb machine.

Typical Skipload stuff...blueberry pancakes, Lucky Charms, Cap'n Crunch, Honey-Combs, Apple Jacks, Special K Fruit & Yogurt, low fat Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tarts, rice cakes, very low fat ice cream (1.5g per serving), a massive homemade chicken/tomato/onion/feta pizza. I tested out my response to a couple different fat free candies as well (use it right before pumping up and getting on stage). Basically anything no/very low fat works well. I usually move towards more starchy carbs late in the day as well.

Here's the pizza. This beast has multiple layers and a total of 6g fat.

IMpressive as always breezy. 1300g + of carbs is insane!!!! That rope in your arm is huge dude lol

Thanks wasme. Haha it was actually closer to 1400g and I held back towards the end of the day. With some water adjustments before the competition, hopefully everything will pop quite a bit more.

Today's back session was awesome, as I felt fantastic after yesterday's feast. The gym owner let me know that there's been a lot of professional athletes and physique competitors at his gym and he's never seen anyone work as hard as I do. That's something I shoot for and it felt great hearing that from him. I'm currently loading up on more carbs and will most likely have them on the low end for the majority of the upcoming week.

Breezy how high are your fats on these carb up days? Less than fifty?

Also, why all the junk food? Wouldn't your body respond better to fruits (for sugars) and rice/potato for the rest??

Yeah, I try not to go much higher than that, regardless of my overall intake.

Nope, I've used a lot of different options and went with what has worked best. Have you ever heard of the trainer/prep coach Ken "Skip" Hill? I'm not sure if you remember, but I used Skiploading throughout my previous prep with good success and know exactly how I respond to it (got to experiment weekly and eventually every 4 days towards the end of prep). This approach uses carb sources that are low in fat, processed, and relatively high GI. I mix in as many starchy carbs as I can, while still hitting my goal. Carbs are lower today, so there isn't as much "junk" involved. I kept my carb intake relatively high this prep, so I hadn't needed much more than an occasional "clean" refeed up until this point...I'd also need exactly 35 cups of jasmine rice to equal the amount of carbs that I consumed yesterday.

Cereal isn't junk food, it's god:)

Haha it's fantastic. I almost forgot how much I loved it.

I've been reading up on Skiploading and may give it a try. During the week leading up until your Skipload, what are your carbs roughly at per day? Are you staying low carb up until the day of the Skipload?

Everyone is different. Some guys go keto others moderate some relatively high (200gr+)

There's a lot of factors and skip himself says it's somewhat trial and error.

I use a similar strategy as Breezy and we bounce ideas off each other (if anyone has ever noticed we do a lot of similar things and that's why we're total bad asses )

I'm at about 130gr a day and got in 600 today with ft lower than 50gr. I was zero carb yesterday and leading up to the skip load.

Figured that. Just trying to get a sense of how it works. Trial and error though is key obviously. May have to try this and see what happens.

How high do the fats tend to get when carbs are lower?

Yesterday I was right around 100 for the day with my normal 325 protein. I just sub the carb calories for fat calories and try to use mostly coconut oil to make up the difference

Edit: nvm. Got the answer I needed.

I know skip hill I just wasn't sure why he prefers junk food.

I look best from a carb load when fats are really low (otherwise I hold water) and using sweet potato with mixed berries, and rice

Edit: I've never tried cereal though, but it never seems to sit too well with me, same with the proCessed carbs

B-zy! No Reese's PB cup cereal?! :)

Super excited for you and the upcoming contest. Rooting for you, and I know you're gonna rock it. And as mentioned previously, I could also see you competing in BB :)

My carb intake is generally higher than most, regardless of what type of diet strategy I'm using. DW has you covered though.

Yup. Lots of idea sharing and getting second opinions, which has worked out great. Teamwork FTW

Haha I actually picked up and had some Reese's Puffs yesterday. I like to have a good mix to graze on during the morning of the competition (with a couple chicken/rice/ketchup/salt meals as well).

Thanks for the support g-kix!

Been some good reading/ideas on this page of the thread... thanks guys.

No problem, man. As always, let me know if you have any questions.

Loading up on carbs for the last 2 days had me a little watery this morning, but filled out pretty well. The plan is to stay low carb and dry out until Thursday, when I slowly start to load back up on "clean" carbs.

You look incredible. The roundness of the Delts are unreal.

I laughed at this is you holding water. You look pretty dry to me and honestly perfect for physique

I was gonna say the same thing about "holding water" lol DA fuq

Thanks man. I have to give some credit to Mr. Meadows for changing up my style, which has definitely helped fill them out.

Not as dry as I was and not nearly as dry as I'd like to be on stage.

I was gonna say the same thing about "holding water" lol DA fuq

Haha I see it.

Yeah a good deal of belly water sub q VS day 1 but that's to be expected. It'll all shrink wrap once that YCHL comes to a stop too.

I was dry today too until that emergency meal and then looked sick for like 3hrs. Water intake aught up and now.....yeah not so much lol

Thanks for noticing :). Last day of yhcl tomorrow, so hopefully I'll notice some changes starting to happen in a couple more days.

Lol Five Guys to the rescue.

^^ I was just going to make this comment re: delts...

Thanks wasme!
