breezy's training, supplementation, and food log

Breezy.. successful season thus far for the B's what are your thoughts against Detroit?

Personally, I'm thinking B's in 6.. but Detroit have been a tough opponent all season for us.

I'm thinking it'll probably be B's in 6 as well. Should be a pretty good series.

No zetteberg is good news for the B's

Yup. :)

Agree with you there. Who do you cheer for DW? For some reason I think you might live in or near Cleveland

I believe he's a Detroit fan (where he grew up).

JM let me know that he thought the one arm band pulldowns and prone band low rows (a couple weeks ago) were "very cool". Hearing that, made my day.

Hey guys, I know we had a conversation about bands and we were talking about which ones everyone used. Breezy, which ones do you use again? I think Wasme also used the same if I'm not mistaken, sorry if I'm wrong

EliteFTS. This band pack gives you enough options for a lot of different band work.

If you're only looking to pick up a couple bands, I'd probably start with the Pro Minis. They provide a decent amount of resistance and there's plenty of ways you can implement them.

Very cool thank you!

I lift at home and I will use them for standing bicep exercises and connect them to my pull-up tower to the single arm pulldowns, stuff like that. I basically just have a bunch of free weights and dumbbells. Do you still recommend the pack or should I just grab a couple different bands?

You'd probably be alright without the pack, but it's really up to you. The Pro Minis would be good for the bicep work, dumbbell press, and could be used for pulldowns as well. The Pro Monster Minis have more resistance (probably better for pulldowns), but you could always try doubling the Pro Mini for certain exercises if necessary. The Pro Micros are great for pull aparts, over and backs, face pulls, and other solo band work (can double one for spider crawls), although a lot of that can be done with the Pro Minis as well (probably not at the end of a superset though).

Awesome thank you. I'm going to look over the bands today and order me some!

This morning's chest/shoulder session was great. I got to the gym without an exact plan, but wanted to keep the tri-sets going on pump days.

For the chest portion of my workout, I did 5 rounds of Banded Slight Incline Smith Press/Pec Minor Dips/DB Flyes. I wasn't sure how I'd rig up the Smith, but what I came up with couldn't have worked out any better. This is my new favorite chest exercise and I'm pissed that I haven't been doing it all along. The impact on my chest was incredible and felt better than anything that I've done previously. I'll be using this a lot in the off season to help build my upper chest (and chest overall).

Here's most of the first round and the start of the 3rd. I used 25, 15, 12, 10, 8 as the rep scheme on the Smith Press, while working up in weight. The reps dropped each round on both Pec Minor Dips and DB Flyes, as my chest fatigued.

For shoulders, I did Bent-Over Laterals into Swings with 25lb DBs, until I hit 30 total reps and followed with prone Band Pull Aparts/Band Face Pulls (switched to Face Pulls because I could barely do partial pull aparts after the 1st round). I did this for 3 rounds. I finished my session with 2 supersets of 6 ways and spidercrawls on a bench (from knees, working side to side). Doing the spidercrawls with my arms basically down at my sides, hit both the side and rear delts well, as opposed to mainly the rear when doing them with arms positioned out in front.

I should have a diet and supplement update posted sometime late tonight or tomorrow.

Here's a closer look at the Smith setup.

Waiting for the next sale and I'll be grabbing some.

Nice. It'll probably be pretty soon. I don't remember seeing them on sale in the last couple of months.

Damn Breezy, close one last night. Going to be a long series..

Yeah, it should be tough. I actually missed the entire game. Can't wait for tomorrow though.

I have my day planned around the B's. Going to my parents for dinner, so leaving at 145 to arrive at 245.. say hello, grab a snack and be in front of the tv slightly after 3...

Nice. I planned everything to make sure I didn't miss the game either. Solid win!

I'm just under 5 weeks out from my comp and have made a few changes to my supplementation since I last mentioned it. I've been using Rhodiola (adaptogen) for the last few weeks and just started Shift, Reduce XT, and PowerFULL. Agmatine has been added to my intra workout mix and before high carb meals (with ALCAR and AP or MD's Ultimate GDA). I have a ton of bulk yhcl and began fasted LISS with it this weekend. I'll be doing 3x30min sessions this week and will adjust based on my progress. I have more EAAs arriving today, along with CDP choline, and Burn 24 (saw a great deal and jumped on it). I picked up some Leucine tabs from the AS sale as well, which I'll combine with EAAs (still using MBCAA+ too).

After a few weeks of the new Compound 20, I'm impressed. Muscle fullness/vascularity are solid and I'm experiencing a leaning and definite GDA effect. I can normally use AP, Recompadrol, or any GDA completely fasted without feeling "hypo", but when combined with C20 (not completely fasted), I've "needed" food about 20mins after dosing on several occasions.

I'll be hitting a heavy chest/shoulder session later today and will try to have an update tonight. I'll have a nutrition update posted this week as well.

Thanks for the supplement break down. Always interesting to see what you are utilizing.

Great win indeed. Almost painful to see the habs up 3-0 though, isn't it lol

Sounds solid to me. My pre-competition supplement plan always has me adding in Rhodiola and Ashwaganda at least 8 weeks out from competition. Really seems to help me out. I do feel like each time I compete I am narrowing down exactly which products to use leading into it, something I am sure you do as well (even with our differing goals).

The things you listed to do with the Pro Micros, can you do all of these with the Pro Mini. Spider crawls, etc. I'm thinking of getting a set of the Pro Minis and a set of the Pro Monster Mini.

Breezy so you have any of the black onyx bands? I have a mini, that's retained it's resistance and has zero nicks in it, yet all over my pro colored bands have some sort of tear after usage. I'm just curious how long you're making yours last.

We have the full set of onyx bands at my gym... Well, I believe at least three pairs.
They don't get used very often because they're such high tension, but they seem to be holding up well. (they're only used for banded/reverse band work, no mobility stuff.)

No problem, wasme.

Haha yes it is. I wouldn't mind playing them though.

Thanks man. I'm a big fan of adaptogens as well, especially as a competition approaches. I used Sutherlandia (Ergobolic) throughout my last prep, which seemed to help. Yeah, I'm narrowing down what I think works best and am sure I'll make a few more changes next time around. I still need to grab some OG Erase Pro for the home stretch.

You could use the pro minis, but as previously mentioned, it'd be tough at times. For example, trying to do pull aparts at the end of another rear delt exercise.

All of my EliteFTS bands are the Pro series. They've held up pretty well, but the pro minis have a few spots where the top layer is flaking off. There's no real tears though and they should still last a while. I'd like to grab a few onyx bands pretty soon as well.

Awesome update.

Thanks Monte!

I'll have a training update posted shortly. I decided to do a few minutes of posing after my session and one of the girls from the gym stopped by and took a couple pics. She should be sending them soon and I'll post them up.

Here's today's session:

Incline DB Press
45x10 (warm-up)
65x10 (warm-up)
80x10 (warm-up)
90x8 (warm-up)
100x8
105x8
110x8, 75x8, 45x8

-~22 degree incline
-constant tension

Incline DB Flyes
50x10, 25x5 w/band resistance
50x10, 25x5 w/band resistance
50x10, 25x5 w/band resistance

-These were supposed to have manual resistance on the drops, but training solo I just wrapped a band around my back and looped it around my thumbs. Works great for added resistance towards the top of the movement.

Flat BB Bench
155x6
175x6
185x6
195x6
205x6

-split second pause on chest before exploding to 3/4 lockout
-chest was hurting at this point

Incline Stretch Pushups
1 set to failure

-started with hands on separate flat benches and feet on ground/switched to both hands on 1 bench after failing

Machine Rear Delt Flyes
120x15
120x15
100x15
90x15
70x15

-30 seconds rest between sets
-1 sec flex at peak contraction

10 and 2 o'clock Laterals
30x10
30x10
25x10

-cross between side laterals and front raises, bringing arms up to 10 and 2 o'clock
-focus on controlling the weight throughout entire movement

Machine Shoulder Press (neutral grip)
130x8
130x8
130x8

-3sec eccentric / pressing to lockout to fully engage delts at the top

It looks like I was only sent one pic and the quality isn't great. Muscle fullness is solid, but I'm also holding a good amount of water after 600g+ carbs yesterday and a bunch of food/water today. Either way, I should be in decent shape after another month of leaning out and drying up.

Haha thanks ace. Hopefully, she sends a couple more pics because I had some crazy vascularity running through my delts.

Id love to see you do a BB comp.

What you thinkin your weight will be at contest time?

Damn Breezy... delts, chest, arms are crazy big. Obviously you are doing everything nutrition/supplementation/training wise to perfection.

Thanks, wasme. I've got everything dialed in pretty well. It's all pretty basic (no big diet maneuvers or changes to training) and has made for a relatively painless prep thus far. My approach to nutrition has definitely been the biggest help and kept my training intensity at a very high level.

Looking real good brother!

Thanks, Pete!

You're BBer material Breezy. Impressive as hell.

Looking good Breezy!
