Wasme's recomp journey....

and justice, lightening and kill 'em all was by far their best work. after that i feel like it went straight down hill. weird. they were awesome with dave mustaine and cliff burton and suck with out them. guess they shoulda kept dave, but then we wouldnt have megadeath. RIP cliff.

Really, I love Metallica. I think ride the lightning is my fav album

I just think they got lucky with the timing of when they broke out. "...and justice for all" was a great album full of unique riffs and jamming tunes. But it wasn't a few years later that hard rock/metal really started breaking out with some phenomenal talent. But Metallica had already grabbed its followers, and even though their music started going down hill in the sense of originality (sorry their music just really all sounds the same), people were already bought in. If Metallica didn't break out with "...and justice for all" and tried breaking into the scene in the 90s with the stuff they were putting out...I don't think they would've been as popular as they are today.

This.
First CD I ever owned.

Metallica, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden were my metal beginnings.

Slayer changed my life! Lol ...and of course Pantera and Sepultura. When I heard these bands play my whole view of what could be done with music changed forever.

Metallica hasn't done much for me...ever.

I have always been into them. Mind you, post Black album they just have not been the same. That said, I will go see them any time they come to Toronto.

Nice... Van Halen, Priest, Maiden for me.

Gotta give Megadeth some love too.

Timing is important in many things.....

Lords of Summer
song is just meh, but I still haven't heard that was definitive to be on the album
they performed it in a recent concert, and hetfield said it "may" make it on the album but they do not know yet

I think that was a great album, but you are selling them short by a long stretch
in fact, some will say their most impressive stuff (and influence of the genre) came well before that album, at the very beginning
like garage days..ride the lightning..kill em all..master of puppets
they were already well established by the time they cut ..and justice

I agree on the new song.

Also agree on this. I saw the Justice tour.. you don't sell out arenas while your still cutting your teeth. One just got them more attention is all.

That's my point...they were original, they had a following, their sound was something "different"...then they just sold out. Their future albums survived on a decent song here and there but they lost their originality and every song started to sound the same. I know I'm in a minority here. I've had these discussions with friends of mine that have been fans from the beginning. I guess I've just never seen them as anything more than a glorified garage band.

Before my time, but I do know exactly what you're talking about! :-) I had my phase of listening to the classics...Zeplin, the Doors, Pink Floyd, Hendrix...one's music background can't be complete without knowledge if the legends!

ones background should also include rush, amazing the things a 3 piece band pulls off....tom sawyer is a very complicated song, but i loved the old all the worlds a stage album....i go back and listen to that old live version of working man and get fired up everytime i hear it.

btw-vinyl records played on a good gerard turntable beats the hell out of cd or digital for capturing the true sound- i can live with the little imperfections, vinyl rocks!!!

Rush is phenomenal.

Neil Peart is a god.

Haven't missed a show yet when they come through.
I have met Geddy; well I've said hello and shaken his hand lol.
He owns a cottage directly across from ours on lake Manitouwabing. (Near Parry Sound, Ontario)

Another 3-man Canadian band I grew up liking is Triumph. I'm guessing the American members here may not know of them though

I stand corrected, guess I just always assumed Canadian bands didn't get much publicity south of the border

Saw Triumph 2 years ago here

Charity Rock festival we have annually at Harris Park in London (my city)
This year Weezer is headlining, would prefer classic bands like in the past years but oh well

3/25/2014

Workout started off good, but felt more like I was going through the motions. This is the first workout of the reactive pump routine where I have felt this way. Have some 'domestic' stress ongoing 3 days now and I think mentally it is starting to take it's toll. But like most things, it shall pass. Workout, ended in a bad way as I tweaked my back. Nothing severe though - so hoping to be good to go tomorrow.

Reactive Pump - Week 2.2 - Back

Meadows Rows
60x8
80x8
95x8
110x8
110x8
110x8

Seated Cable Row (Band added)
140x6
140x6
140x6
140x6

- ram weight back to engage entire back

Stretch Pulldown
230x8
230x8
230x8

- extra wide grip, pulling down to top of head (i went to forehead), long stretch at the top

Dumbbell Shurg - hold for 3 seconds
60x12
60x12
60x12
60x12

Banded Deadlift - bands from the top
135x10
185x10
235x6
255x3

Tweaked back on the third pull... so stopped and called it a day. As the evening has progressed the right side of my lower back as developed a pretty good knot. I am hopefully it will clear up in a day or two. Tomorrow is chest/shoulder pump day - so will keep weight light.

Nutrition today (including remaining meal)

Ok not a fan of RUSH at all.... they are the bad where people either love them or hate them. Geddy Lee's voice gets on my nerves lol. But it is cool that his cottage is across from yours.Triumph on the other hand - was a great band! Rick Emmet excellent guitarist.
sure man, I'm old enough to remember them :D
As am I....

how about loverboy?

lmao... that is all I have to say about that.

Curious, are there a lot of Tragically Hip fans down there? Huge here,

I think they are the kind of bad that is big along the border - kinda like Tim Hortons lol

but hey - how about these guys?

Anyone remember the movie they did? Where they drank a vat of beer to put out a fire lol... was sooooo bad.

Eesh.. sorry dude. Actually what am I saying, my wife likes all the top 40 crap my kids do..

Hope the cause of the stress gets sorted out brother, my workouts go downhill pretty quick when I have **** on my mind.

Turn the volume up and add your favourite lift on to the very end of the workout so you can work towards it. I find it helps

Wait... What's wrong with Tim hortons? I like their coffee. That's like the only Canadian thing (that i know is Canadian) I like aside from the M1 garand. He was Canadian.

Thanks bro.. appreciate that. And not a bad idea at all.

Nothing at all. And its 'roll up the rim to win' time.. You like me!

Hey guys... looks like today will be a forced rest day.

My back was so so when I went to bed last night. Felt better when waking, but as this day is wearing on - it is getting way worse. Sitting at my desk is aggravating it. I keep gettiing up and walking around, even kneeling on one knee at my workstation. I really do not want to put off today's workout - as it feels like it wasn't all that long ago that I put my back out - alas looks like I have no choice.

I am actually leaving work now, going home to ice/stretch, etc.

See what tomorrow brings...

Edit: I know it isn't 'back pumps' but do you think there is any merit in taking Taurine ??? My appologies now if that is a dumb question - took a percocet so feeling a bit cloudy.

Relax, hit your macros, live to fight another day brother.

here is my unsolicited advice...rather you want it or not!!!

work out your 'domestic stress'......suddenly, back issues pull a david blaine and disappear.

bring home flowers, tell her how nice she looks...then throw her down on the carpet and have some good old sweaty make up sex!!!!

well if it is a stress-induced back issue, then taurine would be applicable here

the coincidence of timing was too much to ignore....1st domestic stress, then next day back stress?

relationship stress can cause all kinds of physical ailments...trust me i have been there!!!!

besides...some good makeup sex couldn't hurt!!!

Absolutely this!

Thanks bro..

what a dumb question

:D

altho taurine has a myriad of useful properties, I don't think this kind of back issue is conducive to treatment with this amino

Thanks Mr. Supportive! I didn't think so but was worth a shot.

Foam roll, stretch and rest buddy. If you can hit up a chiro to realign you.

Doing a lot of stretching.

I am sure being tense hasn't helped. You are right, time to make up for the betterment of my health. Gotta stop sweating the small stuff (just hard to do)

Absolutely this!

I'm not fighting with you hun, wait wut?

I think I'm gonna start a fight with the woman just for make up sex.

Dude, you crack me up.
