Jim's Training to Become a Human Tank!

Dude these high reps are insane....straight beast mode to get through some of that.

Gawd no shît. 15 deads??? That's a whole ME session for me.

Nice work, even though the beard is gone. :(

No beard? Unsubbed.

Good work there.
Looked like it was getting a little uncomfortable, grip included...!
5 minutes after I finished I was like "I bet I could've done more."

My wife did 28 reps on her last set of squat this week....

Gawd no shît. 15 deads??? That's a whole ME session for me.

Nice work, even though the beard is gone. :(
It makes me sad too....

And now my DL is automatically weaker.
No beard? Unsubbed.

Both job interviews went well yesterday. I already got a call back last night to offer me a position with one of the two companies, I told him that I was expecting a call today from the 2nd company and that I needed to weigh my options before answering. (the second company told me unless something crazy comes back on my background check that I am gtg.)

Also, got a call back from another company this morning that wants to set up and interview with me tomorrow (did a phone interview this morning that went very well) and they are willing to offer me a similar position for more money (assuming the second interview tomorrow goes well).

So, this may or may not effect my TSM appearance.

Log Press Realization 10's

Log From Rack: 180 x 1, 200 x 1, 220 x F, 200 x 1, 210 x F

Meh, the 200 went easy. The higher weights were more of a confidence issue, instead of just dropping down into the split like I should have, I kept trying to arch my back to get lower under it and keep it from getting too far behind me and it started getting way in front of me and I wasn't able to come out with it. More reps with it and they will not be an issue.

Log C+P: 110 x 3, 125 x 1, 135 x 13

DB Rows (w/ straps) : 75 x 12, 85 x 12, 100 x 11

Not Kroc Rows, very strict w/ little upper body movement.

a1. Facepulls: Black (Medium) Band x 20 x 3
a2. Band Pushdown: Purple (heavy) Band x 15 x 3

Done. Overall I'm fairly happy with this, I'm a bit disappointed with my jerks but I've only been doing them for a short time. I'll upload the 2 reps at 200 and the 220 and 210 failures for you guys and see if you see something I missed.

Your pressing is getting strong James.

Man, those almost makes with the log look scary brother. Nice reppage at the end.

You're thinking about it too much when it's over 2 bills. You can see it in that last failed rep when you hesitated. Form is good, could drop lower but that comes with comfort. Just quit thinking about it.

Not strong enough....yet.

Lol, it's easier to say when it isn't on your chest.

Job interview went well, I was given all of the information to fill out for the position today so that I can take it to HR after my 21st birthday. Drug test will be done early March so that it is done when I get to HR for my 5-6 hour training and certification process the day after I turn 21.

Didn't know you were that young. Doesn't show.

Congrats on the job!

Core Work:

Ring Fallouts: BW x 8 x 3, BW x 6

Pallof Press: Purple Band x 8 x 3

Short today, considered doing extra but decided I didn't really need anything more than that today.

CG Bench Realization 10's Wave

CGBP: 100 x 5, 120 x 3, 140 x 1, 155 x 18

Dips: +45 x 1, +55 x 1, +70 x 1

a1. Elevated Partial Pushups (feet raised, hands raised, pec focus) : BW x 25, BW x 20, BW x 18
a2. High Lateral Raise: Red Bands x 20 x 3

Lying Band Curl (on floor instead of bench for extra resistance): Black+Red Bands x 30

Events tomorrow morning and then I deload (yuck) before starting the next wave.

Seemed like you tested well this wave. I forget the calculations, how much do you get to bump your training maxes this time?

Yep, those numbers I posted earlier are correct. Overall, I'm not too disappointed with that. Obviously, I would have liked to get more on each lift (especially that damn log lol) but they aren't awful. The cap for what I count above my goal is 10 reps so that's what I want to get every time I do a realization workout....

As far as the deload, I figure I will do low volume at 70-80% of my training max (I'm thinking 3-4 sets of 2) and then do lower volume assistance work with a moderately heavy load. I don't want to go to light (because I hate it) but I obviously don't want to slow my recovery by doing too much as it will affect my performance in the next realization wave.

Events:

Yoke: 500 x 50', 500 x 50' (timed at 12 sec), 600 x 30' (one drop)

Need to learn to breathe properly with the yoke, for short runs I can hold my breath the whole way but with heavier weight (and slower runs) once I try to take breaths I lose the implement.

Stone Load: 235 x 8 x 2, 300 x F x 6

Wish we still had that 265 because that would've gone up today (for a PR), but I wanted to try something heavier. I made progress with it (the stone came off the ground every time) but it stopped right around the same spot every time.

Farmers + Keg Carry: 200 (per hand)/165 (keg) x 75'

Farmers Attempt: 280 (per hand) x F

That thing was glued to the pavement lol. It was already on there (Marshall was doing light runs for a warmup) so I figured what the hell, might as well try to take it back the ~50'.

I saw a guy doing zercher yoke walks and I thought of you James :D

Man that is some heavy **** today brother

Got some kind of stomach virus, been up and down all night with diarrhea and just started vomiting.

At least it happened on a rest day.....

Lost ~5 pounds this weekend

Went in today for Deload DL + FS.

Deadlift: 275 x 2, 285 x 2 x 2

Front Squat: 225 x 1 x 3

a1. Reverse Hyper: 50 x 10 x 2
a2. Lunge: BW x 16 x 2

I had the exact opposite problem...

Thinking about getting new oly shoes, not necessarily right now, but in the future.

You guys have any suggestions?

I intend to use them for squats, front squats, overhead work, and stones.

I've been looking at either the Nikes or Adidas but I'm not sure which would be best.

I like the Nikes cuz Im eccentric like that, but the Adi's are nice with the wood heel. Guess its personal preference… Let us know what you decide on Jim

When's the last time you saw the Adi's with the wood heal? I believe they stopped making that model. I was lookin everywhere for it. Sad panda.

Jim, I'll give you my answer after squats on Friday lol

Don't think they do.

I've had VS Dynamos for years now, cheap, solid heel, and held up well.

Yeah I was talking old model. Seen em on a couple sites, Amazon too I believe, when I was looking a couple months ago...

I did some reading on it on a few other sites between the two, most of it was in relation to just squatting, but it seemed most people without wide feet prefer the adidas. I've heard some complaints about how the Nike doesn't feel as snug around the heel as the adidas do, but that the Nikes are very sturdy shoes overall (and some say they feel a little heavy?).

Why do I feel like iparatroop has used both?? Where is that guy at?

I concur with the loose heel. I don't notice it when I squat though. They aren't "heavy" but you feel anchored down.

I don't have wide feet and I have no issue with the "loose heel " on the nikes. I haven't tried the adipowers yet, but I can try them whenever I want if you want an opinion. I chose the romaleos because when I put them on, it was almost like being anchored to the floor. I don't think they feel heavy, but I would call them "clunky", and almost cumbersome to walk around in at first, like wearing bricks. If I replace them, I'll replace them with another pair of romaleos, if that says anything.

Also, a little bit about training for the future. And I've been thinking about this since I initially decided to implement the Juggernaut Method, so this is what I'm thinking.

My Current Schedule is as follows:

Mon- Deadlift (JM), followed by Front Squat (5/3/1), Accessory work
Tue- Conditioning
Wed- Log Press (Work to heavy 5, then 3, then 1), Log C+P (JM), Accessory work
Thu- Conditioning
Fri- CG Bench Press (JM), Accessory work
Sat- Events
Sun- Rest

Obviously, there isn't anything wrong with this. I recently have been doing my primary assistance movement on CGBP day the same way that the Log Press starts on LP Day (first week is a heavy 5, next week is a heavy 3, and final week is a heavy single). For the Log Press day it will stay like that (gives me a chance to get a heavier log in my hands) as it is what is called for in the template.

But, what I'm leaning towards now is (and the difference is minor lol):

Mon- Deadlift (JM), Front Squat (5/3/1), Accessory Work
Tue- Conditioning
Wed- Log Press (5, then 3, then 1), Log C+P (JM), Accessory Work
Thu- Conditioning
Fri- CG Bench (JM), Incline Bench Press (5/3/1), Accessory Work
Sat- Events
Sun- Rest

Also, I decided before starting this that I intend to increase my volume on accessory work a little bit every new wave to slowly condition myself and improve my work capacity. I will probably be implementing more complexes (BB or other), because it sounds terrible so it has to be a good idea (conditioning, mental fortitude, what's not to love?).

Also, I'm thinking about doing the same with my wifes training. What I had her do this training cycle is much like my log press days, each day she would do her movement according to the JM and then the following movement would be heavy 5, then 3, then 1.

Instead, I'm thinking of having her do 5/3/1 as assistance as well, but I'm not entirely sure of which lifts I want her to use for this. She pulls sumo in competition, but I'm having her do the majority of her DLing conventional (to spare the hips and to build the weaker lift to translate to a stronger competition lift), which will only change when the weights get to a point that they are too much to do with good conventional form (or when a meet is coming up).

So here is what I'm thinking.

Mon- Deadlift (JM, Conv.), Sumo Block Pull (5/3/1), Accessory Work
Tue- Conditioning
Wed- Bench Press (JM), Lilly Pause (5/3/1), Accessory Work
Thu- Conditioning
Fri- Squat (JM), Front/Pause(??) Squat (5/3/1), Accessory Work
Sat- OHP (JM), 1 Arm DB OHP (5/3/1), Accessory Work
Sun- Rest

This is what I'm thinking, I'm not entirely sure if I want her doing Front Squats or Pause Squats for her assistance (recently I've been having her do pauses). I'm leaning towards the pauses, because that's where she is week (out of the hole), just like I have her doing the Lilly Pauses right where she is weakest. What do you guys think of all of that??
Sean1332, herderdude, Rodja, NomZ

I concur with the loose heel. I don't notice it when I squat though. They aren't "heavy" but you feel anchored down.

Thats what I figured, that it would only be noticeable when I was trying to jerk or load a stone. Most people seemed to really like them because of how anchored down you feel, which sounds perfect for squatting but not so much for all of the other things I need them for....

I wonder if I can find a place around here where I would be able to try a pair on.

Hmmm, you use them for all of your oly stuff right? I know they apparently take a couple of weeks to really break in (all oly shoes from what I understand). Did you get them in the same size as your normal running/training shoes or a half size down?

Have you searched for any Nike outlets in the area?

I say for your wife to front squat, and maybe even going as far as pausing some reps there? I'm not sure how applying 5/3/1 to pause reps, Press or Squats, would work out, seeing as pause time could always vary. But **** it. Try it.
I like the addition of the sumo off blocks following convo. Then have her pull off the ground closer to comp. Does she have hip issues like us?? I always assumed women are much more mobile in the hips than men.

I use them for all of my oly stuff. I don't think I needed to break them in as much as I just needed to get used to them. They fit true to size.

I'm gonna make a suggestion that may seem laughable at first but...
Reebok offers the crossfit lifter and lifter plus that have a forefoot that offers more flexion and is geared toward mixed activities. The have a 3/4" solid heel and uform technology so you don't have to break them in, you just bake and fit. I have a pair of the lifters, the lifter plus comes with two straps rather than one.

Here's a flexion comparison pic.

You CANNOT flex the nikes like that.

Sure haven't. I know there is a UA one, so I imagine there would be a Nike one. I'll check.

I typically call her pauses at 3s (1, 2, up) so they stay consistent. It isn't bad, but yes. We normally have to have her do some type of hip mobility before/after any lower body session. I'm also thinking about getting her some oly shoes for squatting, but I'm not sure if they will actually help her. She doesn't squat wide, so I figure it will, but she also doesn't seem to have any real ankle mobility issues that would require the heel...

Front Squats then? I'm not entirely fixed on the Lilly Pauses either, it just seemed appropriate because that is where she stalls. I thought Pin Presses could be a good one too for that. What do you think?

And, there is a Nike and Adidas Outlet at the same outlet mall. They aren't particularly close, but not terribly far either. You think they will carry these there??

Absolutely not. The best you're probably going to find is the powerlift (OG model) at the Adidas store. They're specialty items and they don't normally stock them. At least the Adidas and Nike outlets here don't, and they're huge.

How solid is that heel?

Have you used those before? They look perfect for what I want.

The heel is some "thermoplastic". It's as solid as the nikes. It's probably exactly what you are looking for. They stock them at the reebok outlets, sports authority, and dick's. What size do you wear?
