TGR Leaning out with the BPS Super Stack (Vanillean and DC

I ended yesterday with 2,503. Still a little short. I will probably do about 2400 again today (hopefully) because I have church again tonight, then maybe just not drop to 2-2.1 the next two days like I had planned for off days. I'm undecided about whether both will be off days or not...

Macros were 241/222/75 and 48 fibers. I had to cram the cals in, hence the high carbs:

We almost had a packed house last night:

I got to bed around 2230. Tonight it may go to 10 or even past 11. I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow, then I'm going to get my eyes checked. I've been squinting a lot lately, and I may be the only person on either side of my family that doesn't have glasses.

I don't have any new sides that I've noticed. Sleep is still great, granted, I've not had a lot of it the last couple days. BM's are normal, and powerful. :)

I feel like my water intake isn't where it should be. I'm going to start counting today. I think I was just over a gallon yesterday but I woke up in the middle of the night feeling a little dehydrated.

Well, have arms on tap for today. Gonna try guillotine curls for the first time and maybe a new tricep exercise I read off of the AM newsletter. I'll see if I have the energy for the treadmill this morning. If I don't feel like sprinting I'll at least walk fast for a while.

Morning weight is 192.2. Slight increase from yesterday my sodium was almost double my normal count.

Workout started strong. I only sprinted 3/5 mins, but the guillotine curls felt really good. Got a great pump with them.

I didn't hit any PR's today but I'm pleased overall with how it went.

Notes:

I took the first dose at 0620. Within 10 mins I could feel a warmth, but not sure what else. I drank 1/1 protein shake and I'll have my cup of cottage cheese around 0715.

I'm frickin tired as heck. 5 hours isn't enough sleep for me when working out. I brought caffeine pills and will probably take 40mg here soon while trying to pound water also.

I brought another protein bar and two extra cups of raw broccoli today to give my cals a head start.

Good lifting guys!

Same thing happened with me and glasses. I was literally the only one with out them. Most of my family has worn them since they were kids. Last year I was having trouble seeing at night and my wife was always asking me why I was squinting when watching tv. Sure enough went in to the optometrist and came out with glasses.

Ha! My wife was making fun of me squinting to her across the living room last week which is what started all this. I think she has a fantasy...

And yes, kinda.

Morning weight: 191.0

Yesterday cals were 2,419 with 274/225/49 with 58 fibers.

Almost at the 190 barrier and I'm looking leaner already!

Much needed off day today. Still uncertain about weekend calories. I plan to hit 2400 ish today, but that tends to change every few minutes.

So far I've had a hot johnsonville Italian sausage, a sweet Italian chicken sausage, some black beans, and a couple protein shakes with almond milk.

I slept 9 hours last night and it was glorious.

May do legs tomorrow, may rest. We'll just see how I feel. Almost all my meal prep for next week is done. At least the basics, anyway. May do some Reese's this week. IIFYM, right?

Getting my eyes checked today. Hopefully I don't need glasses.

Good lifting all!

20/25 and 20/30....

And cataracts in both eyes. Damn.

For real? Cataracts?

Yes. She said they weren't that big but referred me to a specialist. She also said surgery is inevitable but not necessarily needed right now. We'll see what they say. My wife is freakin'.

Good luck with that. Then the dentist for that wisdom tooth pain bro?

Ha. Yeah... I put the tooth on the back burner. Pain went away that next day.

If this helps, my wife's aunt went through the cataract surgery at 87. Wasn't a big deal but had to lay on her stomach for a week for proper healing. Something about air bubbles. Going to have to cross that bridge when you get to it.

To add to what Kenpo said, one of my best friends has had both eyes done as well. She said there really was no pain, and she recovered no problems. Just the nervousness of someone getting close to your eyes. Try to get your wife to relax about it - you'll be find Thomas. Sorry to hear though.

I'm not too worried and my wife seemed to have calmed down after she read some literature on it. My dad had the surgery before and also said it's no big deal.

Seriously, better that than any other thing IMO. At least this won't keep me out of the gym.

Thanks guys!

Speaking of the gym, I picked up three bands (20/15/10) today and two sets of handles. The bands are interchangeable and can be attacked to various things. Not quite MD bands, but I'm pretty certain I can make them work the same.

My dad had the same surgery, his got infected though and he said the eye drops for the infection burned like fire.

Moral of the story : don't get your cataract surgery at the VA.

No joke. The vets get shorted on a lot of their medical care.

Morning weight: 192.2

I did pig out for dinner last night though and through in some ice cream with Reese's chips.

I'm unsure about whether I'll lift or not today. If so my cals will be normal, if not it'll be 21-2200. No Super Bowl cheats for me tho year.

I also want to note something that happened yesterday. I took my first doses of each, 1x Vanillean and 2x DCP 2.0, at 1000 with a 400mg Niacin and an allergy pill all on an empty stomach. I did not eat 30 min later as Vanillean suggests, and right around noon I got real shaky and felt very anxious.

I don't know if it had anything to do with the stack on an empty stomach or not. I would think that if it did, that feeling would've come a lot quicker than 2 hours later.

Anyway, I was in the checkout line at Walmart when it happened so I grabbed a Fast Break and a water and after downing both of those I was fine.

I'm going to make sure that I take something, even if it is small, 30m post Vanillean like the bottle suggests.

... annnnnndd 191.0 post BM.

:)

I'm a little bloated from this weekend so I didn't jump on the scale this morning. Even still, I can see the leaning in my upper abdominal area.

I forgot that I was taking DCP 2.0 and Vanillean post workout this week, so I just took those. Oh well.

Notes:

I got a really good sweat going that may have been attributed to the stack. My caffeine intake was lower than normal, so it wasn't that. I'll play around with dosing times, but I definitely love to sweat.

Niacin makes me like that sometimes. Not sure if that's what caused it for you. I have had 3 panic attacks related to supps, and niacin was the only mutual compound.

I had read that before, but supposedly this brand is 'flush free' or something. That could be though.

My wife is calling around to set my consultation to look at my eyes and she's been told I'll have to not lift >15lbs for two weeks post surgery.

This is making me angry.

In other news:
I'm really craving mashed potatoes. I think I'll mash some cauliflower for dinner tonight. Not a bad alternative if you've never tried it.

Try some mashed sweet potatoes they are a good substitute as well

I wish I could do sweet potatoes but for some reason I just don't like the "sweet" part lol

I used to hate them, and still won't eat yams. It wasn't until I quit smoking last year that I started liking them.

Im not a fan of them plain but when you use seasonings like nutmeg cinnamon cyan pepper heck even some stevia you can change the flavor complex a bit and make it taste like non cutting food. if youre craving fries you can bake it if youre craving mashed taters you can mash em even tossing them in the micro for 5-8 min can make a tasty snack.

Just found these at a small market in town. Man, I used to love these as a kid.

I didn't notice any sides today. I feel great overall, and pretty energetic. That's typical for a Monday. The lack of sleep hours usually hits me mid week.

I just dosed my last for today and will probably be at 2,403 cals (including my PB bars) on the day after dinner, but will post the for-certain numbers in the AM.

I'm thinking I'll do chest tomorrow but we'll see.

300x5... solid brother

I figured, you wouldn't be able to lift for a couple of weeks post surgery. Don't worry about it. It is only two weeks. Totally bust your ass till then, and consider it your deload.

Mashed cauliflower is great. Most people don't even know the difference.

Yesterday's cals were 2.397 with 246/232/69 and 64 fibers.

My morning weight is 194.0

I'm not certain if the spike is the sodium and such from the weekend or the fact that I had to stuff my face to get my calories in last night:

Invalid Link Removed

8oz pork
3c broccoli
1c black eyed peas

Maybe a combo.

I slept like a champ but feel a little tired this morning. Going to take my DCP 2.0 and Vanillean post workout today.

My pre will be prodigy x3/4s, creatine x2.5-3g, and chocolate protein w/ almond milk used in with my morning coffee.

Thanks Wasme.

I'm hoping that I stay on the treadmill or something during that time. Don't want my motivation to sleep. Two weeks is a long time... Lol

I did end up mashing cauliflower and it tastes great. I just couldn't fit it in last night. Kiddo wants to take some for lunch today and I'll probably have some tonight.

- Undecided when the best time is to take it for me. I just took the first doses and have a semi- acid reflux feeling. That could be my fault for not chasing with enough h2o. This hasn't happened before.

- Noticed some intense vein-age last night in my arms, and my arms were popping during my chest workout today.

Not really sweaty today though. :(

That should be fine, as long as you don't get your heart rate up too high. I'd imagine being your eyes, you can't have the 'force / pressure' from weight which changes bp, same with elevating your heart rate on treadmill. But just keeping active is a great idea and keeps you the game.

I messed up the log and the first two ex's have a log split.

Great work in here, Reg! Man, that sucks about the eye surgery :(

Don't worry too much though, strength comes back pretty quickly.

Thanks Misfit!

Do you have any idea when you plan to get that procedure done?

It won't be during this log. I was going to schedule it afterwards and not put in anymore apps. They just called and pushed back the initial consult to the 20th.

Yikes, that seems like an awfully long wait. I'm guessing it isn't incredibly severe?

Yikes, that seems like an awfully long wait. I'm guessing it isn't incredibly severe?

I believe it's not that severe as of yet. I was supposed to go in for a consult this Saturday but they wanted to reschedule, so I pushed it back until later.

It's causing my eyes to get sore throughout the day from looking around the catatracts, and I have to squint a tad to focus on some readung, but I think for the most part they are young cataracts. The eye doctor also said it's possible that they recommend I go ahead and get reading glasses and push the surgery off anotyher 3-6 mo just to see how quickly they're growing.

-I didn't notice any issues with my second doses today as far as my throat goes.

-My hunger is up and down. It doesn't help that I'm training someone and I have to make his slow a** do all the work. I'm bored...

-Wearing long sleeves so there is nothing to note right now about vascularity.
