breezy's training, supplementation, and food log

Looking awesome B. Staying lean in the off season sure pays off come dieting time :)

Looking awesome B. Staying lean in the off season sure pays off come dieting time :)

Thanks brother. Yeah, I'm happy with the body comp changes, considering the amount of time that I had/have between competitions. I definitely pushed the calories, but am glad that I did. I worked up to 6500+ cals and 800g+ carbs for a while (a lot of it consumed peri-workout), which was a good amount higher than expected.

My wife can eat whatever she wants and still stays thin.

Have never known these feels.

Yeah, that can be tough, but my motivation stays high because I'm extremely passionate about training and the lifestyle it involves. The closest friend that goes to the gym is on AM and I've never met them in person lol. I don't have a wife or kids though, which gives me more freedom.

Some days, like this morning, I ask myself WWBD? It worked.

So true, you guys (girls) are my training partners.

:)

No fair. Looking swole b-zy! Your work ethic continues to amaze.

It's hard cause none of my friends or close family workout or into fitness so to stay motivated is crazy. My AM family here is great and running a log keeps me going

You have a log?link me :D

Lol. I did the same this morning and decided to skip abs. :D

Thanks g! I went well over 800g on many occasions and was still hungry most of the time. It's not too difficult when you love it.

I'm always logging some kind of product for different companies. Just finished up a level ll log and a ANS mini Diablo log. I don't have an ongoing log but I think I'm going to start one.

Let us know if you do, bud.

One-Arm BB Row

75x8 (warm-up)
100x8 (warm-up)
110x8
110x8
110x8
110x8

-25lb plates used for increased depth/stretch

-hip closest to bar slightly raised (helps “pre-stretch” lat) / keeping upper body stationary / driving with elbow

4th working set: I worked up to a tough 8 with good form. My focus was on driving the weight up with my elbow and not leaning or keeping my body weight back to support the weight. This helped target the entire lat, as opposed to the lower half. With a slight lean or shift in weight, 150lbs would’ve gone up as easy as the 110lbs (based on experience), but wouldn’t be as effective.

Rest-Pause Smith Rows
110x6 (warm-up)
160x6 (warm-up)
200x6
200x6
200x6
200x6

-20lbs bar resistance

-pulling from mid-shin level

-driving explosively with elbows

2nd warm-up and 4th working sets: I love these, especially after getting my lats warmed up and full of blood. I stood on a box because the Smith bottomed out before mid-shin level. Elbow drive and keeping my upper body stationary were the main focus. Explosiveness was pretty good, but started to fade a little by the final set.

50x12 (sit-up bench at lowest setting)

Lat Pulldowns (with a stretch)
160x8
160x8
160x8

-standard pulldown, but letting weight come up and arms lock out while partner gently pushes down on weight stack to increase the stretch

Banded Hyperextensions
3 set to failure

Standing Calve Raises / Dorsiflexion
15 +10 partials (out of bottom) / ~50 (until tibialis went numb)

-30 sec rest between each set

-wraps kept on until all sets were complete

-forgot how ridiculously painful these are

I noticed they both involved hitting chest and Delts twice weekly. I think I'm going to do the twelve week program three, followed by md, then rp. Not sure exactly though

I'm doing program 3 currently not sure what next. Probably RP or demolition.

You are looking thicker than before your last prep that is for sure. Delts and arms have really increased in size.

This^^

Looking awesome breezy!!!

Looking good breezy, you're still incredibly lean and fifteen Weeks seems unnecessarily long for you to diet.

Good opportunity to grow into his show if done correctly.

Awesome wo bud!

Thanks bean!

That'd be nice. I'm attempting to recomp currently, but don't think growing into the show will be an option with my (lack of) supplementation. Hopefully, I can hold on to the majority of my muscle though. I feel that I could've done a little better with that last prep.

Sounds good man. Look forward to it.

Speaking of supps, I don't have much planned for prep yet. I just started TEST Powder again, but everything else is more or less staples (OxyELITE Protein, Modern BCAA+, HBCD, AP). I'm using coffee pre-workout, but will go back to Jack3d AF in a couple of weeks. I plan on grabbing some Peptopro soon as well. Compound 20 and PowerFULL will be run further into prep. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'd like to grab AT-2, Erase Pro, Reduce XT, Norcodrene (looks solid), MP, and Recompadrol as well. I'll have to see what my funds look like in a few weeks (currently broke :().

Edit: Forskolin and/or the new ABE would be great too.

I like Test Powder but man, NZ price for it is steep Invalid Link Removed

Yikes. I thought that you guys couldn't have anything with l-dopa?

Double standards I think.

I can't import it as Macuna is considered a pest (this is what I was told when I phoned customs) but for some reasons big chain stores and online companies can sell it.

Same applies for Phenibut. I cant import it but it is present in some products I can buy here. Albeit at 10 times the price

Damn, I thought it was expensive here.

You can usually find it for ~$25.

Well, that's too bad. At least you guys have Watermelon as a "flavour" option :D. I just noticed and was jealous.

Hmm. Thanks. I usually look there for items first. I must've seen that at a different site.

No problem bud. It's a steal, considering the comprehensive formula.

You mentioned Demolition training. What's dat :)

It's just the name of the Meadows' program that I'm currently doing. "Muscular Demolition".

Ohhhhhhh

That's in the 3.2 book from elite fts right?

So I definitely just got 4 of the jack3d shirts (2 black, 2 grey) for free from Frank Gonzalez (he gave them to my buddy, they were a size too small, so they were given to me).

I'm pretty excited about that.

Demolition indeed. I don't think ppl realize how intense this stuff really is. I mixed in a few things last week and soreness was intense, def wasn't recovering.

I know guys eyes light up when they see gains and want them but it's a marathon, not a sprint. I think I'm rather advanced and I CANNOT hang thru an entire week of workouts with my coach (an IFBB pro) and he doesn't use weight that's insanely heavier than me on some things. That's why he tailors my workouts to ME, just like meadows has beginner phases of MD and Haney has beginner phases of FST-7. Just my thoughts on the subject.

I've gone through about seven weeks of MD and I'll say that I'm impressed. I actually referred to it as the cross fit of body building before actually looking at the program :) well I was wrong it's a very effective program to say the least.

Score! Those shirts are awesome. I have one of each, but could use a few more.

I agree. It's brutal (when done properly) and definitely not intended for those without a good amount of solid training experience and knowledge. After many years of training, it can take a little creativity to continue making progress. Meadows himself thinks it's a bad idea to be using his programs when someone could be making progress with a much simpler/basic approach.

Here's a quote from one of his old articles:

"This has led many to label Mountain Dog an "advanced" training system, intended for guys who've exhausted most traditional methods. I basically agree, as like in dieting, it only makes sense to "try to get the most out of the least."

In other words, why hit a balls-out Mountain Dog leg workout and have to be wheeled out of the gym on a gurney when a simple linear progression program of basic exercises will work?"

I believe I've posted this link before, but it provides an intermediate approach to MD, involving more basics and not beating yourself to death with intensity techniques/bands/chains. Bands are an excellent tool when used strategically, but can actually hurt strength/progress when abused.

Good post.

Sh*t game last night, and I am taking heat at work.

Breezy, day three of program three. I feel like I got hit by a truck.

Im on week seven right now. Did chest and shoulders yesterday and skipped reverse Pec deck due to time limits.

Thought "well I guess I'll need to make up some rear Delt work on back day....." wrong. Rear delts STILL got sore with limited work.

This Meadows gypsie has some magical formula worked up. Be it exercise sequence, rep range, exercise pairings, TUT, rest periods or more likely all of the above, that just works.

Yeah monte and I are on the same week same program and my legs are tore up today. Hammys are the worst :-)

I crushed legs after work today - two sets of bands was murder lol. Every time I go to the kitchen to refill my water bottle I wobble down the gd'in stairs!

This program seems like fun lol

Is everyone using bands?

I gotta admit, I have not had this kinda fun or DOMS in some time. Great program.

Nice. I'm jealous.

I am where instructed by the program. Being my first run through this, I am not adding anything - just doing as layed out. No need to be jealous, jump on the train.

I will. I have one more week of procrastination scheduled though.
