Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Ha. I drank the Kool Aid for a while and went with the standard programming supplied for the gym, but I know my goals. We're switching up biases geared more toward strength so I'm gonna train how I want, and see fit. They are programming using the 531 template for the strength bias. I just want to be cool like you. /hijack

This makes myself, and the rest of AM happy.

I saw that the other day. Effing nuts.

Dude, I guarunf'ingtee he's a state sponsored athlete from here on out, if not already. We don't have those and it's really hard to compete against them. The Russians had a shyt load of them in Prague. Guys who's sweats said Russian Olympic team. I got pics.

That's why we suck in international competition...

Those russians sure do love to be the best at stuff. It would be cool if people could make a living on these fringe sports, I'd bet we'd see so many more ungodly awesome American powerlifters if that were the case.

Herder, I drank a shyt load of beer over two nights with a Russian who was not only a member of the team, he was a WPC international judge. Google translate rocks. He flat out told me these guys do nothing but train, eat, sleep, shyt and are given gear. I mean real gear. It's their job and they're the best at it.

It reminds me of the Bulgarians in the 80's: we're coming to your house, we're gonna lift your weights our way, kick your ass and there's nothing you can do about it...

17 and looks 30, dafuk.

Jimbo speaketh the troof.

Cutting weight for anything less than a national or world record is stoopid...

I wouldn't go that far since you would want to have experience with a weight cut going into a meet where you're attempting to set a record. You don't need to go for a Kroc-esque weight cut, though.

Good shît broheme. How's your bench feeling these days?

Oh ya, did Tate Press also. 50x2x8, 60x2x8

And bench is going good dude. I'll snag videos next time. Impinged left shoulder still but it's slowly getting better it seems

I'm really impressed with how well the template works for benching. You know it'll get better, dude. Just gotta be dilligent, which we know you are. And a little patient. Jury's out on your patience. ;)

I am cutting weight because I look better and feel better when I have less fat, regardless of muscle. So I guess YMMV.

Since the whole convo was in here I am putting it here(as long as it is okay with you keeping it here Sean). This is CWS interviewing KStarr.

We're talking about cutting 15lbs of pure water weight directly before weighins just to drop a weight class, not decreasing body fat. Big difference

Looks like this, your bench, is moving up. Well done, Sean.

Will be paying attention to this and your approach. Nice bit of work BTW sonny

Nah not doing that again unless its to cut to 220, which would be a while since I'm only 215. My last meet I went from 214 to 200 in a day and it still wasn't enough to make my 198.25 weighin.

My bad, misread something.
F----ing monacle fell out again hunting my teeth and puddin'.

I, however, will be cutting for my meet next week. Bought a manual and everything. Dropping carbs, loading salt and water, glycogen depletion workouts in the beginning of the week, magnesium citrate, dropping water, dandelion root, the whole 9. And then step on the platform heavier than I am right now.

Cube-Explosive Squat-Week 7

EFS Yoke Bar Squat (set x rep)
*Oly shoes, comp stance, knee sleeves*
427x5x2
452x3x3 + Below parallel foam box

14" Cambered Bar Good Mornings
*flat sole, wide stance*
245x4x8

Bulgarian Split Squat/Low Box Banded Abduction

DB Side Bends

Slow and sluggish with squatting today. Went to bed late and took a small nap before I went to the gym and that just made it worse. Wasn't a terrible day though. Time to rest up and eat.

The manual EFS was selling?

Can't wait to see his this goes...

Correct. He lays it all out there in detail. Leaves no stone unturned. Talks about OTC diuretics, Rx diuretics, what to do if you stall on Thursday, how to replenish, how to replenish with IV bags, basically any tactic you can think of.

I need your squatting power...

Figured my next meet, Feb 8th.

What do y'all think about Bret Contreras

Mr. Glute. We all could learn something from him. "Seat of Power" ftw. I liked his article consolidating 30 of the biggest conventional deadlifts ever, complete with pictures of their positioning with the bar just an inch off the floor.

I'll be doing a Feb one as well possibly.

Heal that back up, man. You hit 550, right?

Noice.

It's healing, squatted today no problem. Yep, 551 wrapped.
