13 Weeks to RPS Rawdawg Nats: Herder's PUUUGHE Comeback

Here's the video from my squat practice day. Really liking the form. Hams are a mite bit sore today. We'll see how that goes tomorrow. I intentionally manipulated the volume and force I applied on yesterday's squats to go below Prilepin's recommendations so I would be recovered for tomorrow. We're just hitting openers and GTFO. Possibly doing some assistance work later in the shed, that remains to be seen.

Lol, me and my wife have been watching those every time they put the newest one up. We're waiting for heat 4.

Lalas looked fantastic. Interesting that most everybody trimmed up for this year. Bjornssen looked damn lean.

He posted a picture of himself to twitter this year, 6'9" 419# with a ****ing sixpack.

Yeah, idk how anyone places (besides the winner) but Lalas was definitely performing well in the heats.

God damn. Eat your heart out, Pete Rubish.

Does squatting outside of a cage ever fawk with your head?

For the time being, I'm stuck doing it when I never have had to before, and it messes with my head a bit.

Regardless, squats looked smooth like baby oil between Sean & Jim's skin.

Honestly, squatting INSIDE of a cage messes with me. There's one at the gym that's massive, that's the only cage I've felt comfy in. I was inside a smallish cage when I hurt my back and that messes with me. I can count the number of times I've squatted inside a cage on my hands.

Today's squat sesh: slept for about three hours, don't know why, just did. Had a coffee and some of Anthony's iForce whatever the F (stim pre). (iForce reps, stay out of my log, first and last warning) and mobilized when we got to the gym. We were slightly rushed and as a result only had time for openers, which was expected.

Pre: roll IT/adductors, Donnie Thompson set the hips, band distracted hamstring stretch, band dislocations

work up work up

put my belt and wraps on a set earlier than I normally would. Not worried about how I do out of my equipment at this time, more worried about acclimating and perfecting technique in my equipment.

Brachialis was killing me, so I had to go to Rip's way of holding the bar. That feels terrible to me, like the bar is gonna roll right off of my back. But I'd be unable to unrack any of my attempts with my thumb around the bar, so Rip's way it is. Going to have to really take care of it these next two weeks.

Ant crushed 435. He's on the effing money right now. Expect 1325-1350 from him. Felt slow from squatting Friday, that's alright though. Hit what I came in to hit. You'll see in the video that I terminated my first try at rep one. I wasn't torquing at all as you'll see by my knees shooting forward, so I reset and finished the set. Here's all I did today:

Ice that mother ****er!

I don't know why I yelled that. Conquer is a good low stim pre. Super sweet.

Yell whatever you want! As long as you're yelling.

Not bad. Not something id usually go with, I'm a high stim guy. That's how I cancel out my shakeyness.

I prefer to be out of the rack, it makes it really hard to quit a lift at the sticking point when you know you might die if you do lol.

Watched up to the English guy getting hurt on squats. It's cool stuff. Asian dude was at a disadvantage

Yeah, you could see him leaning before that last squat. It was a matter of time if he kept pushing it. The WSMs in China always feature one Chinese competitor. You should've seen the last one, he was like 5'10" 230. Never had a chance.

Yea he shouldn't have done so many since he didn't have to. Oh well .

And yea it's crazy man. He was at least a solid 100 lbs less than the others. You gotta admire the courage but it was a lost cause from the start

You're right, of course. It was a huge tactical error. But one of the things that I admire so much about these great strongmen is that they are tremendous showmen. There's a lot of tactics and strategy on comp day, sure. When it comes down to it, these guys bust their balls all year for three things: Arnold, Giants Live, and WSM. They toil in the shadows for months and then once or twice a year they get to let loose and show the world what they got, and they do a fine job.

Definitely man. It's awesome to watch and looks fun to do. I'll have to finish the rest of the vids. That American dude was beastin, so I wanna see if he wins

yea that sounds right. Dude was a tank on ohp

The first time he ever worked with the log, he put 345 overhead. I follow his buddy Kalle Beck's log on Juggernaut. OB is a schmonster. He's been training for strongman for like two years.

That's crazy. The man is an animal. I thought guys were gonna get 2-3 tops, but some got 5+ and I'm pretty sure he got 10+. Unbelievable.

Oh just you wait, buddy. OB is an excellent presser, but Big Z is one of the great pressers of all time, up there with Serge Reding and Vasily Alexeev.

The whole Tomlin ordeal, 100K Fine and possible effects on draft picks (moving down in the order or even taking them away entirely)

I wasn't for tomlin on this originally but his responses have been very classy. It's a judgment call.

Why is it a big deal? It's not like he cheated for years, got a few Super Bowls .. I don't believe the pats had go move down in the draft or get a pick taken so why would the steelers on one play which didn't even matter in the end?

Bellichek was fined 500K for that ordeal, which is a record fine for a head coach in the NFL.

He's getting punished for 2 things.

1. Being on the white stripe that is reserved for the referees.
2. Being on the field of play during a play that's in progress.

Yea but no draft penalty . So how does that hurt the team if he is a lil less rich? His was way worse than tomlins

They haven't decided whether or not there will be a draft penalty.

It apparently depends on how the draft order turns out (for whatever reason)

I stil don't see how they can do that when it didn't happen to the pats. Pretty ridiculous to me. The fine is understandable but anything else is absurd. Unless it's a 1 game suspension for Tomlin

I know exactly how they can, because they're the NFL and they decide the punishments for infractions of the rules.

They apparently do not believe that it was unintentional like Tomlin says and are punishing him for (in their eyes) intentionally attempting to alter the outcome of a game through his actions.

He might would've been better off if he didn't have that **** eating grin when they were showing the replay that night.

So how is tomlins doing worse than the pats? How does it deserve a harsher punishment?

It would be ridiculous if it affected their draft. 100k should be the end of It
