Pregnenolone is the master hormone at the top of the adrenal food chain. It can convert into DHEA or progesterone. DHEA can convert to test or E, progesterone to cortisol. Check out Ray Peat's article on Pregnenolone and DHEA. Some amazing info on there. I use this stuff to shield from stress related problems - especially physical. As Peat says, young people are loaded with this stuff, it even protects against hormone imbalances. I's why young guys can mess about with juice and bounce back so easily, often avoiding the fine tuning sides of older men. You can't OD on it either!
I had bloods done during a period of intense stress. My progesterone was twice the upper normal limit. Yet I didn't have progesterone symptoms. The explanation was really simple - this was converted pregnenolone about to be further converted into cortisol. My blood work was simply a 'snapshot' of stress management. Ultimately preg will lower cortisol and stress by buffering the effects of stress. People look at it too short term. It needs time to do the business. I hear 'oh my cortisol went up with preg!' Really? No sh#t? Considering it is the raw material for cortisol, that is no surprise. But simultaneously that pregnenolone supp freed up their natural preg to convert to dhea and testosterone which will eventually lower cortisol in a big way.

I haven't had my pregnenolone levels tested before however next visit to the Endo, I will ask. I've been on TRT for about 1.5 years now and am afraid that I may be running low on this and DHEA since I do not use HCG. I've used pregnenolone in the past with some decent results but never made it a staple in my treatment plan. I tend to suffer from a lot of general anxiety and am hoping that this may relieve some of this. The rhodiola I've been taking has done wonders for my anxiety.

Hey Godfather
I was offered trt here in the UK. I have boxes of Sus 250 just sitting in a cupboard. I figured estrogen was my culprit. I quit flax, fish oil, most grains and followed Ray Peat's diet and supp advices. I am a huge fan of saturated fat - meat, coconut oil, fresh double cream. Before I'd even messed with trt drugs I was getting hour long wood in the early am after six months. However the boys were tapering off in the evening and I was getting anxiety just running up the stairs. Yet my weight training was fine. I knew estrogen was the culprit - using arimidex as a tester. I bring my T up using just arimidex (check out the studies on elderly men). It took me to go up to .5mg of arimidex a day just to lose the anxiety. My boys doubled in size and kept their size all day. Then I dropped the Adex for a couple of days. The boys stayed up, but the anxiety attacks were wild! That was coming from aromatisation of new adex induced higher levels of my own T. I hit half an Adex and within an hour the anxiety was GONE. I am a fast metaboliser so it only lasts 24 hours in my system. I was never overweight, always lean. But you don't need belly fat to have estrogen dominance. It's all genetics. For me, the symptoms were more energy and psych related. I go with how I feel and Adex is doing it for me. It takes a out 6 to 8 weeks to get max results and I am on course. The amount of cr@p and hidden estro in the western consumer diet is dire. It takes up to year to clean it out of your system - 4 years for poly fats. All the 'healthy' stuff they told me to eat was screwing my endo system. Not any more. I am not saying Adex will work for everyone but it's worth a good try. Results are noticeable quickly. Plus you can back it up with preg or dhea and be certain that none of those are getting converted to E. For me, this game is about ratios, not blood levels. I am killing E to give my T a chance to rise above the level my body accepted through bad diet. I am breaking a low plateau, and as I make more T the E will follow it up. Contrary to opinions on boards - E will NOT disappear from your system. A novel feedback measure at GNRH ensures that a low normal is maintained. Look at the study of the elderly men on 6 weeks of Adex at 1mg a day! Those dudes were still pulling wood at those doses and their E declined modestly while T rocketed. Hope some of this is helpful. I see Adex as an hpta reset opportunity.
I have my brother on Adex now too at half mg every two days. He dropped 3 belt sizes in ten days. His life long winter depression disappeared. He kept his wood. We reckon, like me, he was always estrogen dominant - yet never fat or noticeably overweight. Blood tests are deceptive for E. It hides in the tissues and organs where it's actions are stress promoting and catabolic. I'm betting your anxiety is in your chest? A tangible feeling with no apparent trigger? Estrogen loves the CNS and it loves cortisol and high serotonin (another catabolic stress hormone - see Ray Peat).

"In the above scenario, taking supplemental pregnenolone could contribute to the over-production of cortisol, while a case could be made for supplementing estrogen.
Outside the context of pharmaceutical physiology, you'll find that hormonal synthesis doesn't work like the pictures and diagrams you find when you type "pregnenolone steal" into Google.
Far from increasing cortisol, supplemental pregnenolone, or simply increasing our own production, inhibits the pituitary's release of ACTH, which signals the adrenal glands to produce cortisol.
Moreover, estrogen stimulates ACTH, increasing cortisol". Danny Roddy.

Try ashgwanda brother. I did and I can't believe how well it works, esp for someone who has taken a it anxiety meds since 14
