Article: Daily Calf Training

"Calves may not be as "sexy" as big biceps or massive quads, but few things look sillier than a bodybuilder with lower legs like matchsticks."

Not according to any women, including my wife, that I have met. Nobody wants to see some skinny twigs no matter how everything else looks. I have 18.5" resting and I still am never happy with them after years of pounding them. Work them calves!

I've seen this kind of training heavily advised for calves and abs. What about delts? They're in constant use all day as well being the main mover in your arms. I know it may sound crazy but think about it.

I wouldn't advise constant heavy training on delts/shoulders. I am 39 and the injury I see so many suffering from next to back problems is shoulder issues. My shoulders still pop from all the heavy work I put in over the years.

you would be better to train traps/rhomboids daily with the logic you have. I see where your going with it and its not inherently wrong-its just the shoulder complex is unstable at best. If you build your traps and rhomboids-along with proper rotator cuff prehab-you will be able to have a more solid base from which to train your shoulders with more frequency if you so chose.

i started training calves every second day and am finally seeing a bit of growth. im just destined to have small calves

I don't go heavy. Torn labrum limits me. I do a lot of volume work.

I mean, at 5'10" 245, whatever you are doing is working. lol I think my comment was more in general for those thinking about it.

Lol fair enough. I do like manotaurs idea of the prehab and rhomboid work first if you do go that way. It was mostly a thought on my part though. My shoulders are pretty weak from my injury so I figured if run the idea out there. Just glad no one lit the torch to start flaming over the mere thought. :-).
