Country Gets HUGE with 5-3-1, Erase and DAA.

So did any of you guys ever run the x gels and like them? Stacked with anything?

Soon I hope. Meet I was considering is this coming weekend and doesn't work well. I was hoping to find one over my winter break but no such luck.

Day 2 week 3 cycle 10. Deads. Bw 190.4


Back has had a little pinch lately where I had my fractured vert. So I gota get that cleared up. Feels fine when I lift. Hips were still tight but loosened up. Overall I felt weak and crappy and it reflected in my sets but still did work and extra reps etc. also why the hell is my first working set 405 lol. Freaking everything is so heavy now.

Dead- warm up, 405x5,460x3, 515x3. 495x1,1 225x5 135x5
Squat 135x7,7
Ham curl 90x7 110x7,10
Back xtn- 170x15,15,15
Core - weighted sit-ups25x15,20 w other stuf throwin in, hanging leg lifts.
Db curls -35x5, 50x5



Ate. A ton. Two bowls of chicken and rice, 3 chicken tenders, potatoes, grilled pepperoni and cheese. Protein shake. 16 oz milk after that. I feel like I are something else but can't remember. Oh well.

All in all my body is ready for this Deload. I'm sore and stiff and just feel worn out. But I've had good numbers this week, Im pretty sure 515 is a pr or tied at least. I need to look back.
 
Two months of beard. Supposed to grow til New Years so 2 more months to go.

I guess ill be deadlifting twice as much come January! I should say I won't shave til my first meet, then I would be scrambling to find one!!! Haha. Hmmmm

Easier said than done. My primary focus right now is on school and training whether there is a meet or not. I'm keeping my eye on PL watch and locally. Trying to find something now.

I found one. It's semi-far though. 4 hours.

Edit: I found one, I thought it was the last day of my classes, but it's actually the saturday (day) after... It's a lot closer, but the downside. Only push/pull (my two best anyways) and unsanctioned. But good thing is it's toys for tots, a charity I already support a lot with my jeep buddies. So that would be cool. It's december 7th.... so I have 1 week of deload, 3 weeks of training, hold back on all my 1's on week 3 and light stuff the meet weak (75%) and then kill it.... hmmmm.
 
Don't you even hmm! Just effin do it! The thing about 5/3/1 is it's for being strong all the time instead of a peaking program, so it's just a little tweak and you're ready. Maybe instead of a 1s week, just work up to your deadlift opener on Monday the 25th and hit your bench opener Friday the 29th, no assistance and take the next week as a week off or a super easy deload. I was actually going to suggest you do a push/pull if you weren't sure about your squat. Just get out there and do it up!
 
Ill email the guy about it. No online entry form. I feel like it may be a small meet. I will probably need to pick up a belt and singlet too. I seem to never lift well after a Deload I was thinking maybe do a moderately heavy body day mod week like 75-80%

Singlets are cheap, lots of places to find them, house of pain seems to be a popular one. You don't have your own belt? You'll love a good PLing belt. I wouldn't skimp on it, get a good one and it'll last you over a decade. 10mm by Inzer on House of Pain, Toro, Texas Belts, any of those will work. You might like the Spud Inc. canvas belts, too. They don't bite into you like a thick, stiff, leather belt. You'd have a hard time breaking in a belt in one month, though. A lot of rolling it up and running over it with the ol' Jeep and wearing it all the time even on warmups.

I use my old velcro one, alot of feds don't allow it, I've only seen one. I may be able to use mine in this meet though, since there is no fed. I'll ask the guy when he emails me back about that if it's not in rules he sends me. I can wear it in one way or another haha. Also if I get another meet in by feb 28th next year I can still compete against the 18-19s lol. I only found one in that time frame, it's the one that is 4+ hours away though.

Yeah us 4 at least should do one this summer once my cherry is popped.

It's freaking massive, and all of the Steel City's best bench bros come out. There were probably 12-15 different 400lb raw benchers and at least 4 500lb raw benchers. There were also two whole flights of 600+lb deadlifters. It's going to be after your 20th birthday, but it's still a great place to go. I have a feeling we'll see either an 800lb bench or deadlift next year at the monster. Best bench and deadlift by coefficient wins $200.

That's crazy, and I did look at it, very tempting... I might do it if I don't find anything else just to have something to train for. March 30th I believe?

This meet is in somerset PA. I don't know where you are at in the burgh but it's not too bad of a drive.

I might have a decent coefficient haha, probably not the best though. My deads like 3 right now. Might get like 3.15 at best. It would be sweet to see some big lifters though.
 
Oh yeah, my buddy was telling me about the one in Somerset! We decided to go sanctioned and full power instead. The Monster meet is definitely fun and there are some freaks. Saw three guys pull 700+. One guy was 190 and pulled 620 raw, another guy was 205 and pulled 705 equipped. Those are the kinds of #s you're looking at. Biggest raw pull by coefficient was 760 @ 264, and it was SWEET. I got to see a 785 and a 770 at my last meet, and also an 800lb pull that was set down before the down command. There's nothing more awesome than watching a massive deadlift, except maybe owning a massive deadlift.

It sounds like a blast for sure. Those are some crazy numbers. I should be up there soon. I mean I have a lot of prime growth time left, it's just about slow, steady, sustainable gains. I might have 600 in me by that time... No idea where body weight will be though, that's is iffy. I mean are we talking they cut down for it like a normal meet/classes or just walk in that way? haha. And those are some huge numbers... wow. I wish I had more legit equiptment at my gym now. Idk what I am gona do once I hit 585, only place I can hit more than that will be at home or go to another gym, or meets. I mean I don't max that often but a year from now following 5-3-1, I will be doing reps up near that. I'm not gona be able to do my sets right soon, I'm close now.

I definitely plan on growing into the 220 class through college. So grow into 198 for now... Then keep going. I have been making steady gains this year. It's pretty crazy looking back on the past year and seeing how much I have changed and strength I have gotten back/gained. I wish that kind of progress could happen year after year, but it's definitely slowing down/getting harder. Dead is going solid still, bench finally took off a few months ago, squat is finally coming along and getting more technically correct... It's gona be my biggest grower over the next few years for certain.

Somerset is almost 2 hours away. We're going to the RPS Xtreme Xmas Xplosion in Columbus, it's on the 15th. Really, nobody cut for the Monster meet, lots of guys showing up just a few lbs over and not caring to make weight at all. It's unsanctioned, and I guess if the week's worth of grocery money was that important to them, they could cut hard if they wanted to. But really most ppl just walked in and hit it. Less than half of the competitors were in singlets even, just people going hard and showing off.

Don't worry too much about the equipment. My buddy only has enough plates for 515, so he just pulls it as hard and fast as he can for 5s and 6s with gentle negatives (it's HIS basement, after all). Or he pulls sumo, or pulls snatch grip no straps. There's always a way, the answer as you know is just go HAM on what you have and there will be gains.

That's not too far man. Columbus would be crazy far for me. 5 ish. I didn't think guys would cut but I guess if they have a good shot at the coefficient they might.

I need to get my bench and squat up. I'm making progress but I really want to focus on form over the next few months or however long it takes. My body is growing, now I just need to perfect even further the good base I'm laying down.
 
Nothing wrong with a 315 bench with arms made for pullin. Your squat will come, the right form changes everything. Once you find it and build the correct muscles from using the correct movement, the weight you're squatting will jump.

Wise words as always man. I'm gona build these triceps to hell and back. I have the chest for it. Long legs short torso doesn't help the squat either but no excuses. You're right about building the right muscles now. I can feel it.

I could cut to 181 but I don't believe in that. 198 til I out grow it. I'm mid to high 180s right now.

Okay more important. I have 4 weeks til this meet. First one is a deload. I was thinking do week 2 of 5-3-1 for week 1, week 3 for week 2 and do my openers/whatever is prescribed, but not overkill, then do week 1 as the week before but maybe just not do the heavy set... I ALWAYS lift bad after a deload, don't know why, so I don't want to do a deload before the meet. I hit my PRs after I kill myself for a few weeks, no clue why. What do you guys think.

Dead- 480 and Bench 280.

Second and third would be:
Dead - 550(maybe less to save some for the 3rd) ??? (575+)
Bench-300,315 (?)
 
Openers look good. Really you can go by feel the day of on the other lifts. If you have a number you are trying to reach and is obtainable make that the third, something That makes the jump okay or the second.

Thanks man. Well I've hit 550 like In June and 545 at the end of a training session a month or two ago. So I know I can pull it. I'm stronger now. Bench I've hit 315. So I would like a PR for the third but it is what it is.

I based my openers on 87 percent of my maxes.

Bench - warm up. 225x3 265x1 290x1 310x1 300x1,1 255x7, 3 sets of 135x10 with feet up.

OHP- 44x7, 95x7, 45x a bunch

Inverted row. 45 plate on chest super set no rest 7uh/5oh, regular w45 10uh, 10oh, body weightx10

Tri push down 8x7,7,7,10,12

Light core work.

Not a bad day and some decent weight on bench. Figured I would kill it before the Deload. Whatever I did Monday actually got me sore til today. And was still a little weak. I was a little of balance today but just trying to spend time under heavier weights. All in all good session. I felt tired and had a busy day so it was relaxing to get some big weight. My spotter/lift off wasn't the best either. Just a regular guy I know but never really spots me and he wasn't doing much as far as getting the weight out to me but it was enough and I was grateful for the help.
Those last Isi sets blasted my tris.
 
I wouldn't jump straight to 550 from a 480lbs deadlift. If you really think you'll get a PR above 550 make a smaller jump that is more middle ground between your first and third attempt.

What was your most recent triple on each lift?
