It's about to start training for a half marathon, was just wondering will supplementing with BCAA kinda stop muscle loss, and is it still possible to build muscle?? I will still be in a calorie surplus.
Depends on your running history.
If you have run before, training for a half marathon should not subject you to stresses that are totally out of your comfort zone.
If you have not, then ramping up for a half will probably hit you harder.
BCAA's are a good idea, but won't stop muscle loss.
And I wouldn't plan on gaining. I am happy if I can mostly maintain in race season
In that case, I wouldn't worry about muscle wasting--but I still would not plan on trying to gain until afterwards. Best to focus on one goal at a time.
